Ian currently does not have the power to cut off Zombie's head. To say the least, even if he had, he would not do such an extremely physical action. Instead, he chose to pierce the monster's head with a sword. Dr. Frey began to wave the weapon randomly, which distracted one of the Zombies.
Ian took the opportunity to kill the remaining two Zombie and successfully rescued Nate. However, Dr. Frey was still panicked when facing her only Zombie. Ian and Nate were about to step forward to help, but Booth spoke, "There are three more. Go and deal with them."
The two glanced at Dr. Frey and left without saying anything more. A few seconds later, they returned and saw the doctor covered in blood and internal organs. The doctor's face was pale and his whole body was shaking. Booth looked at her coldly. "Remember: this mission is already the easiest you can encounter."
He looked around at everyone. "There is a large compact SUV twenty meters away. I can set up the ignition." Booth said and walked away. Nate and William followed closely behind. Ian helped Dr. Frey, but the corner of his eye fell on William.
'This guy is extremely talented in assassination,' he analyzed. The purpose of Booth was to train this team, which is why he treated Dr. Frey harshly. However, the latter seemed to completely ignore the existence of William. At first, Ian thought that Booth might just be sexist and believed that the only woman in the team needed strict discipline.
But with his extraordinary senses and experience, he could see that William had the ability to reduce his own presence. In addition, this guy was unusually quiet, which made him feel uncomfortable, so he decided to keep an eye on him.
The team quietly reached the car, and Booth smashed the window and opened the door for everyone. He got into the driver's seat, reached under the steering wheel to find the ignition wires, and then connected them.
"After completing this mission, you will become official members of the Samsara Hall, with the military rank of 'soldier'," Booth explained. "Soldier-level missions are still within the scope of mortals, which means that certain skills, such as setting up wires to steal cars or shooting, are very valuable. You may need to spend dozens of points to purchase these skills."
"The rank 'Soldier' means there is a hierarchy. What is the higher rank? How do we move up the ranks?"
"I'll tell you after you pay," Booth replied as he started the car.
"Ha."
"Knowledge is valuable because it saves lives. My mission is to provide you with basic training courses, not to provide valuable information for free."
Booth's attitude was clear, so no one asked any more questions. The team traveled fairly smoothly for the first half of the journey, but as they approached the university, they encountered a small group of Zombie.
"Fire," Booth shouted. Ian and Nate did not hesitate and immediately jumped into the battle. They each used machine guns to eliminate more than a dozen Zombie.
"Good job," Booth praised. It was one thing to hit Zombie in a moving car, but another thing to shoot him in the head. Ian ignored him and looked at his watch. For killing ten Zombie, he now received 50 points.
"Can I purchase items from the Samsara Hall during the mission?" Ian asked.
"Give me the 50 points you just earned and I will answer you," Booth replied.
"Forget it," Ian waved his hand. He speculated that this was possible, but Main God would not make it easy for these people. Therefore, this may require players to purchase expensive passes to enjoy this privilege, or they must first reach a certain military rank.
Booth shrugged, then frowned. "Legion Zombie is approaching from the front. Do you know how to use grenades?" Only Nate and Ian nodded.
"To be honest, I can't hand this kind of thing to you," Booth said suddenly. Then, he casually took off a grenade from his military vest and pulled out the latch. Several people panicked, but Booth remained calm.
He held the steering wheel with his right hand and threw the grenade with his left hand. The grenade drew a perfect straight line in the air, accurately fell into the mouth of a Zombie and exploded. The flames and explosions engulfed the group of corpses and dispersed them.
"What amazing power and precision," Nate's eyes Blink murmured to himself.
"This virus is simply a desecration of life," Dr. Frey said as he looked at the aftermath of the explosion. Shrapnel from the grenade penetrated the heads of several Zombies, killing them. However, the remaining Zombies were still squirming despite being severely burned or injured.
Ian looked at these Zombie. 'I wonder if they have souls.' If these Zombies had souls - even if the souls were weak or broken - this world would definitely be the Heaven of the Necromancer.
With the technology of Booth, the team successfully shuttled through this crisis-ridden city. When Ian saw the university in the distance, a light flashed in his eyes. His plan was one step closer to success.
Boom!
The car suddenly vibrated violently and then swerved. If Booth hadn't reacted quickly, the car would have overturned. "What happened just now?" Dr. Frey asked with a trembling voice.
"Something hit us," Nate said.
"It's Licker," Ian said looking at the rear window. "And there's more than one."
"How many are there?" Booth asked.
"In addition to the one that hit us, there are two more," Ian replied.
"Three Licker are beyond my ability," Booth frowned. His brain was running rapidly, and he suddenly had an idea. He stepped on the accelerator and accelerated. These monsters were fast, but not enough to catch up with the car that was traveling at full speed. As expected, one of them jumped on the roof of the car after finding that he was about to be thrown away.
Ian started shooting at the roof of the car, followed closely by Nate. However, this was meaningless as none of their attacks hit the monster's head. Meanwhile, Booth continued to accelerate, not slowing down even as other Zombie rushed towards him. Then, as he drove into an open area, he slammed on the brakes.
The sudden deceleration threw Licker out of the car, but Booth was already prepared. While Licker was still in mid-air, he used his quick reaction to shoot its head with a gun.
"Run," Booth yelled as soon as the car stopped, and immediately abandoned the car and ran away. Nate was sitting in the front seat, without any obstruction. So, as soon as he heard the order, he ran away. William was sitting in the left back seat, and he reacted quickly and ran away immediately. Unfortunately, Dr. Frey was sitting in the middle and had no time to react. Ian was supposed to be one of the fastest out of the car, but for some reason he stayed. In fact, he even jumped into the front seat.
So, these two were still in the car when two other Licker hit the car with enough force to flip it over. The worst part was, no one had time to pay attention to them, because dealing with Licker was the top priority. One Licker pounced on Booth, forcing him into a melee fight.
At the same time, another Licker targeted Nate and William. Ian adjusted his posture to survive the impact. His ears were bleeding and there were many scratches on his body, but he didn't care. He immediately rushed to the car's radio.
Licker is a strange creature without eyes that can only perceive things through sound. Ian's plan is to rewire the car's audio system so that it releases strong sound waves; in other words, he wants to transform the car audio into a sonic weapon.
It was difficult for him to work while upside down and bleeding, but the advantage of synchronizing with this clone was his extremely high willpower. So, he endured the pain and continued to operate, until the car released a roar that almost shattered his eardrums. Then, he heard the painful roar of Licker, followed by a gunshot.
Ian groaned and slowly crawled out from the crack of the broken window. Dr. Frey was already unconscious. He shouted for help, but no one responded. In the end, Ian had to find a way to drag her out and carry her on his shoulders.
"Why didn't anyone come to help?" he complained while carrying her with difficulty. "Wait, what's going on with this solemn atmosphere?" However, when he saw the wounds on Nate's shoulders and William's face, he answered his own question.
"Are they infected?" Ian asked.
"Unfortunately, yes," Booth said, putting his hand on the gun.
