Fourteen-year-old Hong Siyu did not believe there were miracles in this world.
Or rather, miracles were a word that had nothing to do with her.
Ever since she was born, she seemed to have been a child who was just a little more unlucky than everyone around her. No matter what she did, things usually did not go as smoothly as she wished.
So, when she was helping at the class snack stall during the school festival and someone bumped into her from behind, knocking the seasoning from her hand, she was not surprised at all.
Ah, here we go again.
That was all she thought.
The uncapped seasoning bottle slipped from her palm and fell through the air. The reddish-brown sauce rolled inside it toward the mouth of the bottle, nearly spilling out.
Hong Siyu did not have time to catch the bottle. She could only spread her hands helplessly and stare wide-eyed at the seasoning bottle flying through the air.
Then, right before her eyes, a hand reached out from the side.
That hand firmly caught the seasoning bottle just before it could topple onto the griddle. Hardly any of the sauce spilled, and it remained almost exactly as it had been.
Hong Siyu stared blankly at the hand that had suddenly appeared, not knowing how to react.
When she looked up, she saw that the owner of the hand was a tall, handsome boy.
His features were not stunning on their own, but together they were pleasing and harmonious. He wore his short hair neatly, and his school uniform was immaculate and buttoned up with meticulous care. He gave off a reserved, rigorous, scholarly air, like the "scholar" described in classical novels.
However, there was no expression on his face. He could even have been called indifferent.
