Sixteen-year-old Hong Siyu was still a girl unwilling to believe in miracles.
She had always believed in her mother's teachings, upholding the principles that "pie doesn't fall from the sky" and "those who do not work shall not eat." She firmly believed that every gain came only after hard work and effort.
Even though she had encountered an Aberrant Beast attack in her third year of middle school and met magical girls, she had always thought it was merely a coincidence. She believed her future life would have nothing more to do with such supernatural things, and that she would continue living an ordinary life.
And because of that, after studying diligently, she was admitted into Fangting City's best high school with outstanding grades.
Everything seemed to have returned to normal. Following that path, she would surely continue on as an excellent student. She would enter an even better institution of higher learning, receive a better education and diploma there, then find a well-paying job and become a mature member of society.
Most children her age hoped their futures would be different, hoped they could become special, and did not want to become just another ordinary person among the masses. But Hong Siyu did not think that way. A definite life plan gave her a grounded sense of security.
She had never expected fate to play a joke on her at that turning point. No matter how little she believed in it, something that was practically a "miracle" to her still happened.
She became a magical girl.
In her first year of high school, when she encountered another Aberrant Beast attack, she was chosen by a baffling rabbit Fairy and became a magical girl.
Was that "fortunate" or "unfortunate"? Hong Siyu could no longer figure it out.
Calling it fortunate
