As Larkspur selected two outfits on the shopping street and leaned against the counter waiting to pay, the vibration from the phone in her shoulder bag caught her attention.
She opened the bag and checked, discovering that it was Lin Yun's phone that had received a message. However, there was no one here who knew her, so there was no risk of exposing conflicting identities. Larkspur did not hesitate and took out the phone directly.
Opening the messages, she saw the topmost one from Lin Xiaolu:
[Lin Xiaolu: [Image] Today's plans. I heard that today is Valentine's Day, and you can give chocolate to someone you like, so I'm planning to try making some.]
The hand holding the phone paused. Larkspur's gaze narrowed, her eyes becoming almost sharp. Her fingers rose and quickly typed out the words, "Who are you planning to give it to?" But afterward, she stared at the available emoji options for a long while before finally making her choice:
[Who are you planning to give it to? [Grinning]]
To keep her question from sounding like an interrogation, she decided to add a smiling face. In her view, though, the [Smile] emoji seemed to carry a hint of insincere politeness, so she chose the wide-grinning one instead.
It was not that she doubted her daughter. In fact, after more than half a year of getting along under this false identity, she was certain that Lin Xiaolu showed no tendency toward puppy love. But they were now in the Magic Kingdom, a society where everything revolved around magical ability. The appeal of being a magical girl was only stronger to Kingdom residents than it was in the Material Realm. There was no guarantee that boys would not try to strike up conversations with the younger girls.
