Because one hand was still clenched into a fist, Nina could not completely cover her ears. When she heard the Aberrant Beast's howl, she instinctively widened her eyes, trying to make out its condition through her blurred vision. She spat out a mouthful of liquid melted from magic power, her face pale as she asked.
"Not yet."
Cornflower was not in much better shape either, but compared to Nina, she had some magic power to spare for repairing her body, so she could still stand steadily. "The magic power is still melting, which means this thing hasn't given up yet."
After being stripped of Corrosion Resistance, the Aberrant Beast before them was almost instantly injured by the liquid seeping from its own body. Even its nest-building behavior had become a desperate gamble that hurt the enemy by a thousand while damaging itself by eight hundred. Yet even so, it still insisted on completing everything, so after Cornflower interrupted it for a moment, it activated its Rule again.
The Aberrant Beast's scant intelligence could not comprehend the reality that its own bodily fluids were harming it. It only believed that the magical girls before it had hurt it, and that it had to eat them both in order to stop being injured.
There was no doubt that Cornflower's actions had left the Aberrant Beast in just as miserable a state as they were, finally allowing both sides to continue fighting from the same starting line. However, if they allowed the Aberrant Beast's Rule to keep operating, the final result would likely be the magical girls and the Aberrant Beast melting away together here.
That was not the outcome Cornflower wanted.
