By now, Tudingui had formed a fairly complete guess about the Examination Institute's intentions in setting up this assessment.
The purpose of any examination was inevitably to test certain abilities and knowledge of the examinees. And this practical assessment was surely meant to evaluate some kind of "combat skill" possessed by Magical Girls.
The scenario this labyrinth was meant to simulate had now become self-evident—it was an Aberrant Beast's Nest.
Because an Aberrant Beast's Nest could distort the surrounding space to a certain extent, Magical Girls needed sufficiently strong perception to find their way within it. That was why this assessment took the form of a maze: to simulate the conditions inside a Nest as closely as possible.
Because Nests belonging to Aberrant Beasts at Half-Molt and above were affected by Rules, Magical Girls needed clear thinking and cool heads in order to analyze and break those Rules. That was why the maze contained so many puzzles, all to select those capable of continuing to think through more problems even while exploring.
And because every Nest inevitably had an Aberrant Beast serving as its master, the maze naturally contained similar "enemies." After all, a Magical Girl's perception and thinking abilities alone were not enough. Basic combat ability, as well as adaptability to the terrain, also needed to be tested.
Following that logic, if she was not mistaken, the "exit" that no one had yet found should reveal its true form after she defeated the Aberrant Beast before her.
There was no other reason. According to the process of "attacking an Aberrant Beast's Nest," once a Magical Girl had mapped out the route, broken the Rules, and defeated the Nest's master... the next thing to consider was how to leave.
So there was only one thing she had to do now.
