Yan Xianjue had been helping Shen Fangli rehearse the lines in the script when he learned that the original female lead had been released from prison early.
His obvious pause caught Shen Fangli's attention. She set down the script and took a drink to soothe her throat, then casually asked after putting down the cup, "What's wrong?"

Shen Fangli took a deep breath. She was not some naïve fool, and by now she understood what Yan Xianjue meant.
Her pupils shook. "So Lin Shi went through all that trouble to get her out just so she and Lin Lang could kill each other?"
