Realizing that the magical girls around me were still watching me, I couldn't help muttering.
"That's too much trouble to explain. I shouldn't need to go into detail, right?"
I had to send as many witches as possible into cold storage, and figure out how to deal with the Black Mud collapsing from the sky. I didn't have time to give some speech to a worldwide audience. I wasn't an actor or a politician. I was... a father!

"Ceruno, give me the next set of coordinates."
"Wait a moment. The medical team is on its way. Are you really planning to keep fighting with one hand out of commission?"

The injury to my right hand was rather troublesome.
An Association jet helicopter slowly descended overhead. Its rotor wash violently shook the beech branches, making them look like ghostly silhouettes in the pitch-black surroundings.
"They got here pretty fast."
The coordinates weren't latitude and longitude, so I wasn't quite sure where I was. Judging by the skin colors and languages of the magical girls nearby, along with the surroundings and climate, though, this was probably somewhere in Eastern Europe.
The personnel who jumped out of the helicopter spread out to tend to the injured magical girls. Their leader, however, a bespectacled woman in a white coat with a halo above her head, came straight over to me.
She even saluted. Was she military?
Her skin was very fair, but her delicate features were Asian.
"We're a medical unit from the Siberia Branch... Um, should I call you 'Proxy' or Ceruno?"
Her voice sounded through the Thought Network, so no translation was needed.
"Call me Proxy, to keep us distinct."
"Then, Miss Proxy, please let me examine your injury."
