"You rely too heavily on gods."
Just as Miss Terra had said, I could use Yezi, the NPC before me, to explain my views to Great Blood.
"Using magic requires reliance on gods; resource distribution also relies on Life; even having children... increasing the population, something so vital to the continuation of civilization, must be governed by gods.
"If one day your god can no longer sustain the population, or is forced to leave this world, will you still be capable of surviving independently? This was precisely the mistake Great Will made in the past. Everything in the world depended on her radiance. When she could no longer support the entire world, the result was the destruction of civilization."
"Ceruno, gods are the laws by which the world operates. If the gods leave, then the world itself will cease to exist, you know?"
Perhaps.
But Miss Terra had not interfered excessively with the development of civilization. I believed that was the right approach.
"There is no textbook more educational than the history of the Past. It records bloody lessons, warnings for future generations. Yet even an existence like Great Blood failed to learn from it. It attributed Great Will's failure to poor resource circulation and believed that controlling the population would allow sustainable development. Yet it failed to see the real cause and blindly followed the same mistaken path."
As I spoke solemnly, NPC Yezi's expression turned strange.
"Ceruno, did you eat something bad? Could that magic potion drink from earlier have had some strange effect?"
As she spoke, she reached out and touched my forehead, checking whether I had a fever.
"I'm fine. My mind is clearer than ever."
My thoughts were remarkably clear. I even felt that I could persuade Great Blood.
Brushing aside NPC Yezi's hand,
