We headed back to downtown Skyreach City, with one extra person in tow.
Barbara insisted on staying with me no matter what. Even Yin Wei couldn't talk her out of it and let her climb into the back seat with me.
Honestly, I was pretty surprised too. Barbara had always refused to leave the place where she'd put down roots, yet she'd actually stepped outside her "comfort zone" just to cling to me?

As she started the car, Yin Wei suddenly spoke up with a warning.
"If you don't intend to accept Barbara, don't make a move on her, okay? If you make any promises, you have to take responsibility. If you aren't going to return her feelings, tell her clearly sooner rather than later. Even if it hurts her, you still need to make things clear."
"I know. Don't treat me like some irresponsible scumbag."
"You don't have much experience with romance. Who knows whether you can withstand such a passionate assault? Then again..."
She glanced through the rearview mirror at Barbara, who was hugging my arm with a lovestruck expression.
"...She'd make a pretty flawless wife, wouldn't she?"
"No, no, no. If I did anything intimate with her outdoors... like kissing or something... wouldn't the police arrest me?"
She wasn't just petite; she had no breasts or hips either. She looked exactly like an elementary school girl who hadn't hit puberty.
Whether I undid my transformation or not, whether I was a man or a woman, kissing an elementary school girl in the street would mean spending half an hour at the police station explaining myself to the officers.
