"I'll go wait downstairs, then!"
There seemed to be a staff-only elevator behind the service counter. The enthusiastic, energetic young prison guard skipped out through the back door again.
The clerk she left behind sighed helplessly. Though she had more or less been pressured into it, she still opened the elevator doors for us.
"Sorry for the trouble."
I figured I should at least apologize, but she waved it off.
"That girl will call the warden, and you'll get permission to enter anyway... I have nothing against you. I just wish the work environment could be a little more serious."
"Yeah, a prison really should be a little more serious."
She was a stickler for the rules. She probably wouldn't get along very well with Xiao Xi.
Security at Jadeite Stone Prison was already tight enough. Miss Bai Ze was simply a kindly person, caring for everyone without exception, whether they were inmates, guards, or other staff.
Someone like her would make a great teacher, but how had she ended up being assigned as a prison warden?
"Miluno, that girl really looks up to you. You're pretty popular, huh?"
The elevator doors had only just closed.
Having witnessed Xiao Xi's adoring attitude, Mom naturally wasn't about to pass up the chance to tease me.
"Popular... I am technically an idol, you know?"
I did have some name recognition. Although I hadn't been doing any idol work at all, quite a few people remembered me because of my performance in the final battle...
There just weren't many people who recognized me on sight when I walked down the street.

As the elevator descended, Mom took things even further and lunged at me.
