But only half of me made it through.
A searing pain erupted from the waist and abdomen severed by magic. My mind was too overwhelmed to think, and I could not even feel the existence of my lower body...
Everything below my ribs had been torn away by the teleportation magic.

Xiao Qilan's flustered voice rang beside my ears. It seemed several people lifted me onto a stretcher and carried me into a room reeking of disinfectant.
Though the pain had robbed me of some of my ability to think, my consciousness remained clear.
Fainting was the human brain's self-protection mechanism.
But I had no brain, and therefore no such mechanism. Staying awake when I should have passed out only made this harder to endure.

That little girl's sniveling voice was so noisy!
Though I was in so much pain that I rolled around on the floor, I could indeed feel my body slowly growing back. Until then, I could only close my eyes and endure it, or perhaps sense my surroundings.
