"Qubi! Get back here!"
Lin Xi lunged at him, her fingertips barely grazing Qubi's tail.
But Qubi spun around her feet and darted straight between her legs.
"Huh?"
Lin Xi missed and hurriedly turned around.
By the time she faced him again, Qubi had leapt onto the flower bed by the roadside.
The next second, he landed lightly on Lin Xi's head.
Lin Xi froze for half a second, then lost her footing.
"Ah!"
With a smack, she landed flat on her butt.
"Ow, ow, ow!"
Lin Xi clutched her head and curled into a ball. Her butt had gone numb with pain, and her face burned with embarrassment.
Qubi sat steadily atop her head, his tail dangling lazily before her eyes.
"I suggest you stop moving around."
"I'm observing the surrounding environment."
Lin Xi raised a hand toward her head.
"Get down here!"
Qubi hopped aside and landed on the lid of a trash can.
Lin Xi grabbed at empty air, swayed twice, and nearly fell over again.
"Are you really a cat?"
"What cat runs like that?"
Qubi looked down at her.
"Correction. I'm not a cat."
"I'm a Higher-Dimensional Lifeform."
He paused, then added,
"Also, normal humans don't chase an invisible cat through three streets in a shopping district."
"Shut up!"
Lin Xi pushed herself to her feet and brushed down her pants.
The back of them was covered in dust, and her face immediately fell.
"These are new pants."
"This is only the second time I've worn them."
Qubi glanced at the dusty patch.
"Not bad."
"They've got more texture than yesterday."
Lin Xi took a deep breath.
"Are you determined to make me catch a Higher-Dimensional Lifeform with my bare hands in the middle of the street?"
"You can try."
Qubi flicked his tail.
"Though
