Su Tianqing had already lost count of how many times she had looked surprised today.
Originally, Escape from Foxkov was supposed to look like this:
A squad of mice armed with light weapons searched the city for gold, fought well-equipped boss squads, activated the evacuation point's power switch, and escaped the city by helicopter with their gold.
Intense firefights, indoor CQB, and crouching at extraction points when necessary, perhaps with some insignificant heavy armor added in at most—this was what Foxkov was supposed to be like.
But Foxkov now...
It had anti-aircraft missiles and attack helicopters, machine-gun positions and tank assaults, orbital strikes falling from the sky, and four well-equipped Shadow Squad soldiers over two meters tall emerging from an Orbital Drop Pod.
She could practically hear the unrestrained laughter coming from those Shadows.
"We're getting shot at! Reverse, now!" Hyacinth shouted.
"I-I-I'm trying!..." Marigold hurriedly replied. She pulled the control lever into reverse and began backing up steadily.
She stared through the observation slit from the driver's seat, watching the Shadows for a moment before suddenly asking:
"Where did they come from?"
"They looked like they dropped straight down from the sky just now," Hyacinth answered.
"...That sounds terrifying. Can the few of us really beat them...?"
Without rushing to answer Marigold's question, the golden-haired fox girl poked her head out of the commander's cupola and looked toward the sky where the trails of the Orbital Drop Pods led.
This probably wasn't as simple as whether they could beat them... It was a question of how long they could survive in this mindscape. Su Tianqing thought.
Garuda's eyes were nowhere to be seen in the high-altitude dome. Instead, something resembling a warship hovered in the extremely distant sky. It seemed to be the thing that had dropped those pods
