At a checkpoint on the main route from downtown Kofukov City to the port, a squad of Magic Mice peeked out from a building, then cautiously edged outside.
Squirrel Mai Sui, guinea pig Green Ivy, fancy rat Violet, and groundhog Edelweiss.
And behind them came flying squirrel Purple Crystal, craning her neck to look around with a sniper rifle in her arms.
"Looks pretty safe around here."
Holding her assault rifle, Mai Sui walked over to the intercom by the port gate. After cautiously watching their surroundings for a while and finding that not even wild enemies had spawned, the squirrel lowered her rifle, took off her night-vision goggles, and spoke to her companions.
Besides Mai Sui's five-person squad, another mouse squad was infiltrating through a different entrance to the port. Apparently, it was kangaroo Sea Blue, lemming Peridot, and their third teammate.
"I thought you'd be going with Sea Blue and the others, Purple Crystal. But you ended up assigned to us instead."
Green Ivy spoke to Purple Crystal while sorting through and checking the various first-aid supplies and healing injection kits in her backpack.
"They probably thought I'd be better suited to supporting a frontal assault," Purple Crystal replied, tightening her hold on the sniper rifle.
Under the rules of Foxkov 2.0, the Magic Mice's equipment had inherent restrictions-armor and weapons shared a total budget of ten thousand points. They could equip themselves however they liked within that budget, while consumables and healing injections were unrestricted.
For example, the fully modified assault rifle in squirrel Mai Sui's hands cost 3,000 points, while her level-five armor and level-five helmet cost a combined 5,000. The remaining 2,000 went toward magazines, night-vision goggles, and a backup pistol for emergencies, bringing her total to exactly ten
