Background / History
Li Changfeng was originally an armed police officer who died saving a teammate during a border anti-drug operation. Reborn into a poor farming household, he inherited responsibility for a bedridden elder, an academically focused younger brother, and the family’s remaining farmland. Although resentful of the burden, he chose to keep supporting the household rather than abandon it. 1
After entering Shaolin Temple, Li trained rapidly and formed a True Qi Seed. His first major field assignment was an escort commission for Dragon Gate Escort Agency, during which he saved Chief Escort Du Jinlong’s daughter from Hungry Wolves; the rescue activated the System’s Reward for Saving People function. 8
Li later received the first three layers of Draconic Elephant Prajna for completing the Shaolin Bronze Body Skill quest, then defeated a second-rate bandit leader and obtained the Shaolin Dragon Claw Hand manual. His pursuit of Draconic Elephant Prajna became the foundation of his cultivation path. 13
Personality
Li is driven by a sense of responsibility inherited from both his previous life and his circumstances after rebirth. He is willing to accept dangerous duties, including escort work, investigations, and missions against heretical forces, particularly when others’ lives are at stake. 1 8 93
He is highly persistent and pragmatic in cultivation. After recognizing that attempting to cultivate all twelve meridians at once was a mistake, he adopted a step-by-step approach; he later relied heavily on System training, experience points, and medicinal pills to force breakthroughs. 8 15 174
Although confident in battle, Li assesses his shortcomings directly. After being pursued by the Bloodclad Men, he acknowledged that his poor movement technique left his otherwise formidable offense and defense unbalanced. 100
Li can be playful and provocative around people he knows, especially Princess Minmin, but his power also leaves him concerned about his own violent tendencies. He chose to remain at Shaolin for a year to study Buddhist teachings and restrain the violent energy produced by his cultivation. 601 273
Abilities & Skills
System-Assisted Cultivation
Li possesses a System that assigns main and side quests, grants experience points and items, and provides access to a practice space where time can be used for sustained training. 13 174
- Uses experience points to advance cultivation methods and martial arts directly. 112 269 682
- Uses System training time to practice for months or years beyond normal external time. 174 735
- Receives rewards ranging from martial manuals and pills to major techniques such as the Golden Spear Unfailing Divine Skill. 93
Draconic Elephant Prajna
Li’s signature Buddhist cultivation method converts his immense Inner Force into overwhelming physical power and Draconic Elephant True Qi. Its manifestations scale from one dragon and one elephant to thirteen layers of Draconic Elephant Power. 65 782
- Amplifies unarmed strikes, palm techniques, sword attacks, and leg techniques. 161 303 345
- Grants immense raw force; at the eleventh layer, Li possessed 110,000 jin of strength. 682
- Produces dragon and elephant phantoms and powerful roars during activation. 56 136
- Its fourth-layer skill, Savage Elephant Tramples the Heavens, releases a destructive omnidirectional shockwave capable of collapsing terrain and shattering enemy attacks. 136 161 364
- Cultivation at the thirteenth layer carries a risk of baleful energy and demonic deviation without sufficient Buddhist understanding. 173
Buddhist Body Techniques
Li combines the Shaolin Bronze Body Skill, Indestructible Divine Skill, Adamantine Body Force, and Vajra techniques into a durable defensive style. 56 436 493
- Shaolin Bronze Body Skill — creates a Vajra Arhat phantom and reinforces his body enough to endure barrages of kicks, palm force, and sharp weapons. 56 73
- Indestructible Divine Skill — allows him to withstand attacks from opponents below Grandmaster level with minimal harm; its Adamantine Body Force can repel surprise attacks. 436 493
- Vajra Palm of Immense Strength — especially its third stance, Vajra Body Empowerment, fuses a Vajra phantom into his body and produces massive Draconic Elephant palm strikes. 74 266
- Great Subduing Demon Fist — a Xiantian-level fist art that required five years of System study and practice before Li comprehended its first move, Vajra Subdues Demons. 575
- Particularly effective against heretical-path practitioners and demonic forces. 707
Dragon Subduing Eighteen Palms
Li inherited this ultimate palm art from Xiao Yuanfeng’s remnant soul after performing the ritual before his skeleton in Despair Valley. 173
- Hidden Dragon, Do Not Use — a concentrated dragon-shaped palm strike delivered from a rooted stance. 174 238
- Flying Dragon in the Sky — an aerial palm technique used while escaping a Grandmaster opponent. 318
- Soaring Dragon Ascends — compresses True Qi before releasing it as an overpowering dragon-shaped palm print. 230 610
- Repentance of the Soaring Dragon — a later stance enhanced by Li’s Force Intent and repentant palm intent. 775 836
- At the Lake of Enlightenment, Li repeatedly practiced each stance and refined the technique’s weaknesses, increasing its speed, concentration, and control. 496
Grasping, Claw, and Weapon Arts
Li developed a broad fighting style to compensate for his early lack of attack options. 56 60
- Shaolin Dragon Grasp — learned its Telekinetic Grab stance under the Subduing Tiger Hall Master’s guidance; it can manipulate heavy objects and crush iron locks. 93
- Shaolin Dragon Claw Hand — a first-rate claw art used alongside Draconic Elephant Prajna. 59 78
- Heavy Sword, No Edge — a heavy-sword style supported by Edgeless Sword Intent; its stances include Thunderbolt, Great Skill is No Skill, and Mountain Shattering, Earth Rending. 345 360 381
- Returning Dragon Eighteen Swords — its fourth stance, Five Swords United as One, killed the long-haired demonic cultivator. 161
- Bodhidharma Divine Sword and Burning Wood Saber Technique — advanced offensive arts selected from Shaolin’s exchanges. 269
Movement and Combat Adaptation
Li’s early weakness was mobility, but he later acquired techniques to address it. 100
- Learned Soaring Sky Nine Steps to entry level after six months of practice. 700
- Obtained the Hidden Dragon Force Jade Scroll, a difficult art requiring the balance of speed and power. 668
- Uses tactical retreats, disguises, ambushes, and terrain destruction when direct confrontation is unfavorable. 100 245
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Yama Sword — Li’s primary later sword; its spirit resonates with him and was considered capable of becoming a divine weapon after refinement with higher-grade materials. 899
- Azure Rainbow Sword — used with Returning Dragon Eighteen Swords and Mount Song Swordplay. 161 357
- Snow Silver Blade — exchanged from the Hall of Merit alongside the Hidden Dragon Force Jade Scroll. 668
- Storage Ring — inherited from Xiao Yuanfeng; originally contained an Innate Core. 173
- Buddhist Beads — blessed by the Shaolin Abbot and presented upon Li’s appointment as chief disciple. 268
- Life-saving pills — supplied by the Subduing Tiger Hall Master for the Dragon Gate Escort Agency investigation; Li later used one to survive the Bloodclad Men leader. 93 100
- Van Dragon Root — consumed in part during the battle against the Dragon Elephant Demon Beast, enabling his thirteenth-layer breakthrough. 782
Relationships
