"As my student, you must be the very best!"
In Angel Forest, He Xi's solemn attempt at acting like a proper teacher was rather amusing.
"Teacher, do you think I'm outstanding?" Wang Shu asked.
The vast forest was quiet. From time to time, the chirping of birds and flowers echoed endlessly, adding a touch of spring to the beautiful natural scenery.
Zhi Xin stood nearby as well, looking at Wang Shu with curiosity in her eyes.
This boy, who was a few years younger than her, seemed so amazing!
"Ahem, average, I suppose." He Xi coughed lightly and gave a relatively fair assessment.
"Oh." Wang Shu responded indifferently.
"If Wang Shu is only average, then what about me? What do I look like in Teacher's eyes?" Zhi Xin could not help clenching her hands, lowering her head even further.
"Tell me, what do you want to learn? As my student, and as a future god, you need to have a plan for yourself," He Xi said.
"I'll learn whatever Sister teaches me," Wang Shu said.
"Call me Teacher. Be serious." He Xi glared at Wang Shu with her clear, lively eyes.
"Understood," Wang Shu said.
"If I don't teach you, will you refuse to learn anything?" He Xi asked teasingly.
"Of course not. How about this, Teacher? Teach me everything you know."
Wang Shu looked at the beautiful He Xi with eager anticipation.
"Hehe, you certainly have a big appetite. Do you know how much time it took me to get where I am today?" He Xi asked.
"How long?" Wang Shu asked.
"Thirty thousand years! A full thirty thousand years. Can a little brat like you absorb thirty thousand years' worth of knowledge? Aren't you afraid of choking to death by biting off more than you can chew?" He Xi said irritably.
"Teacher, that's not right. Isn't there a saying that standing on the shoulders of giants lets you achieve twice the result with half the effort?
You're the giant. With your guidance, how could it possibly be the same?" Wang Shu said.
"To stand on a giant's shoulders, you first need the ability to climb onto them. Otherwise, if you fall to your death, there'll be no one to complain to," He Xi said.
At that moment, Wang Shu seemed to have discovered the truth. No matter what he said, He Xi always found a way to shoot him down. Was she really this mischievous?
He didn't want to work hard either. If he could win over He Xi, wouldn't he instantly reach the pinnacle of life?
Of course, that was only a thought. Putting it into practice would still take quite some time.
"Then I'll start by learning about wormholes!"
Wang Shu thought for a moment before speaking. Mainly, he wanted to experience the thrill of flashing around without any cooldown.
"Are you sure?" He Xi looked somewhat surprised.
"Absolutely sure," Wang Shu said.
"Fine. Zhi Xin, teach Wang Shu everything you can about wormholes. Your teacher still has flowers and grass to water," He Xi said, then vanished.
"What?" Wang Shu could not understand He Xi at all. This teacher was far too careless.
"Wang Shu, Teacher taught me about wormholes before," Zhi Xin finally gathered the courage to raise her head and speak.
"Zhi Xin, you know Wormhole Algorithms? Then why haven't I seen you use them?" Wang Shu asked.
"I'm only a trainee angel, while Wormhole Algorithms place great demands on both the Gene Computer and control of dark energy.
And with my current abilities, I can only transport some nonliving matter.
Their composition is relatively simple, their information is limited, and they are easier to calculate.
Transporting living beings requires a massive amount of computational space and constantly shifting data.
Furthermore, our genes are not naturally compatible with genes related to space. They are all introduced later through Holy Language. So unless one is a second-generation or higher High-Level Angel, there is no substantial change in Wormhole Algorithms," Zhi Xin said.
"Is it really that complicated?" Wang Shu asked.
"It is indeed complicated. Space itself is not stable. It is full of disorder, making calculation and analysis quite difficult," Zhi Xin said.
"Still, I should give it a try," Wang Shu said.
"Alright. I'll first teach you the basics of wormhole transport algorithms," Zhi Xin said.
What followed was one teaching while the other listened. Then, Zhi Xin transmitted the Wormhole Algorithm to Wang Shu through Holy Language.
"Ding. Detected that the host has learned this universe's basic spatial Wormhole Algorithm. Obtained 1000M data. Balance: 11000M."
As Wang Shu received the infusion of knowledge, 001's voice sounded in his mind. However, he was already used to it.
Wormhole Algorithms played an important role in this universe. They were among its foremost technologies and a crucial link, so it was unsurprising that they generated data.
"Wang Shu, did you understand?" Zhi Xin asked when she saw him spacing out.
"Oh, I understand. I understand," Wang Shu quickly replied.
"This is only the first-generation Wormhole Algorithm. Above it is the second generation, the advanced algorithm controlled by High-Level Angels like Yan Jie and the others," Zhi Xin said.
"Then are there third and fourth generations?"
He remembered that in the original story, Morgana had said that the Big Clock contained fourth-generation wormhole technology suitable for upgrading Space-Time Rose.
But it seemed that Morgana herself had first researched Wormhole Algorithms. Or perhaps the long-extinct God River Civilization had already possessed wormhole transport technology.
After all, the Big Clock was the crystallization of the God River Civilization's wisdom, so its technology naturally came from the God River Civilization.
"I don't know. At present, only the first and second generations are known. Upgrading any technology is not something easily accomplished. It requires enormous manpower and resources, and even then, nothing may come of the research," Zhi Xin said with an extremely serious expression.
"If there were a third-generation Wormhole Algorithm, then the second generation would undoubtedly be crushed in every aspect before it." He Xi suddenly appeared again, as elusive as a ghost.
"Teacher!" Zhi Xin looked surprised.
"Sister." Wang Shu looked enlightened. So He Xi had not gone to water flowers after all—she had been eavesdropping!
"How is your learning going? Can you use the Wormhole Algorithm?" He Xi asked.
"I should be able to," Wang Shu said without any modesty.
"Then give it a try," He Xi said.
"Teacher, this is Wang Shu's first time using a Wormhole Algorithm. We need to test it beforehand, or it could be dangerous," Zhi Xin said worriedly.
"Don't worry, I'm here. As long as he still has one breath left, I can save him," He Xi promised, patting her chest.
Wang Shu said nothing. He slowly closed his eyes and let his consciousness sink into the Dark Plane.
"Activate Gene Lieyang Flame. Begin importing data. Holy Language. First-generation Wormhole Algorithm. Begin analyzing target material. Begin analyzing target data. Define the designated space. Constructing Worm Door..."
"Construction failed!"
In the Dark Plane, Wang Shu opened his eyes. A series of data streams floated around him.
"001, can you analyze the reason?" Wang Shu asked.
"The first-generation Wormhole Algorithm uses Angel technology and Holy Language as its input. The host may consume 100M data to re-edit the Wormhole Algorithm and convert it into a language compatible with the host's genes," 001 said.
"Alright, then consume 100M data," Wang Shu said.
"Ding. Consumed 100M data. Re-editing the first-generation Wormhole Algorithm. Beginning spatial analysis. Reconstructing Worm Door..."
"Construction successful..."
