  • Ye Fan demands the release of his “grand-master,” Kong Deming. Mu En frees him, and Kong Deming orders the Royal Soul Engineer Corps and Fire Phoenix Soul Engineer Corps to withdraw from Shrek City, ending the immediate conflict.

  • Ye Fan explains the conditions of his resurrection ability: the deceased must retain their bones and part of their soul, must form a pact with him, and will have their restored cultivation limited by both their former strength and the Undead Demiplane.
  • Ye Fan reveals the Undead Demiplane to the Silver Dragon King and Di Tian. They are astonished by its scale, resources, undead inhabitants, celestial bodies, and potential to evolve into a complete world.

Character Developments

  • Mu En is weakened but remains pragmatic. He accepts humiliation to protect Shrek, then devises a compromise to preserve soul tool research outside the academy.

Ch. 102Dragon Clan Graveyard

Chapter Summary: “Dragon Clan Graveyard”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Upon entering the Undead Demiplane, the Silver Dragon King suddenly vomits blood. Ye Fan realizes that her old injuries, previously suppressed by the Lake of Life, have worsened because of the realm’s intense deathly energy.
  • Ice Dragon King examines her and determines that she is suffering not only from physical injuries but also from a severe loss of origin.
  • The Silver Dragon King reveals that she has been relying on a Life Gold crystal to sustain herself, but Ice Dragon King explains that its healing effect is too slow and inefficient.
  • Ice Dragon King asks Ye Fan to use his Law of Life to refine the Life Gold and treat the Silver Dragon King. Ye Fan reveals his second Martial Soul, the Life Angel, shocking Di Tian and the Silver Dragon King.
  • Ye Fan channels the Life Gold’s energy through his Life Angel and transfers it into the Silver Dragon King. The treatment lasts half an hour and completely exhausts his Soul Power and mental strength, causing him to collapse.
  • Ye Fan remains unconscious for three days. During that time, Meng Hongchen stays beside him and supports him on her lap.
  • After awakening, Ye Fan learns that the Silver Dragon King has regained much of her vitality. She explains that his treatment restored approximately thirty percent of her lost origin and allowed her to remain away from the Lake of Life for extended periods.
  • The Silver Dragon King gives Ye Fan the Life Crystal so that he can continue cultivating his Law of Life. Though he initially hesitates because the crystal is extremely valuable to her, Fire Dragon King forces him to accept it.
  • Fire Dragon King then asks Ye Fan whether he might one day revive the dragons who died in the past. The request shocks Ye Fan and makes him think of the Dragon Clan Graveyard.

Character Developments

  • Ye Fan: Demonstrates the extraordinary power of his Life Angel and Law of Life. Although he cannot fully heal the Silver Dragon King, he proves capable of restoring a significant portion of her origin. His willingness to sacrifice himself earns him the Dragon Clan’s deep gratitude. He also begins considering his future ability to aid the entire soul beast and Dragon Clans.
  • Silver Dragon King: Her hidden injuries are exposed, showing how heavily she has been relying on the Lake of Life. After Ye Fan’s treatment, she becomes much healthier and gains greater freedom of movement. She recognizes Ye Fan as the Dragon Clan’s greatest benefactor and develops curiosity about human affection after observing him and Meng Hongchen.
  • Meng Hongchen: Shows strong concern for Ye Fan, remaining with him throughout his three-day coma. Her emotional reaction and tears reveal the depth of her attachment to him.
  • Ice Dragon King: Acts protectively toward the Silver Dragon King and provides the medical insight necessary for her treatment.
  • Fire Dragon King: Becomes more familiar and direct with Ye Fan, calling him “little brother.” He uses the gift of the Life Crystal to pressure Ye Fan into accepting it and then presents the Dragon Clan’s larger request.
  • Di Tian and the others: Are shocked by Ye Fan’s Twin Martial Souls, particularly the Life Angel, and gain a greater understanding of his potential.

  • Sacrifice and gratitude: Ye Fan exhausts himself to save the Silver Dragon King, while she repays him with the precious Life Crystal and acknowledges his importance to the Dragon Clan.
  • Trust and obligation: Ye Fan’s hesitation to accept the Life Crystal reflects his awareness that accepting a priceless gift may create a debt. Fire Dragon King’s later request confirms that the gift carries broader expectations.
  • Hope for revival: The possibility of resurrecting dead dragons introduces a major future goal and suggests that Ye Fan may eventually become essential to restoring the Dragon Clan.
  • Human emotions and relationships: The Silver Dragon King observes Meng Hongchen’s concern for Ye Fan and begins to understand the appeal of human affection, though she suppresses such thoughts because of her responsibility to the soul beasts.

  • Ye Fan privately approaches Kong Deming and Jing Hongchen, revealing that he knows the Holy Spirit Cult was responsible for his family’s destruction and that he now possesses enough strength to challenge them.

  • Kong Deming promises to handle the political negotiations and participate in the campaign against the cult. He also gives Ye Fan a Worship Hall token, allowing him to mobilize much of the empire’s administrative apparatus, and invites him to become a worshipper of the Sun Moon Empire.
  • Ye Fan accepts, formally tying himself more closely to the empire while waiting for Kong Deming’s signal and the Silver Dragon King’s return.

  • Political realignment: The Sun Moon Empire is moving away from its pragmatic alliance with the Holy Spirit Cult and toward cooperation with Ye Fan and the soul beasts.
  • Revenge versus justice: Ye Fan’s desire to avenge his family aligns with the empire’s own hatred of the Holy Spirit Cult, which has massacred Sun Moon citizens.
  • Family and belonging: Ye Fan’s emotional response to Kong Deming and Jing Hongchen, along with his concern for his sister Ye Guyi, emphasizes his need for family, loyalty, and protection.

  • Da Ming announces that the Clear Sky Sect will fully reemerge in three days. Shrek is expected to publicize the event across both continents.
  • The announcement reaches Ye Fan and the Sun Moon Empire before their return to Bright City. At an emergency Mingde Hall meeting, most attendees dismiss the Clear Sky Sect as overrated, while Ye Fan privately recognizes the danger posed by its two divine-level sect masters.

  • Da Ming is excited to leave his long period of inactivity and lead the Clear Sky Sect into the conflict.
  • Xiao Wu shows greater concern for Wang Dong’s safety than for Shrek’s broader political struggle.

  • Reconciliation and forgiveness: Kong Lexuan’s reunion with Kong Deming illustrates the healing of generational trauma through truth and forgiveness.
  • Political and divine manipulation: Tang San uses indirect orders to influence the mortal world while technically avoiding direct intervention.
  • Overconfidence versus true power: The Sun Moon Empire’s leaders underestimate the Clear Sky Sect because of its long absence, while Ye Fan understands that its hidden strength may be far greater than its reputation suggests.
  • Tradition versus technological advancement: The Clear Sky Sect’s ancient power is positioned against the Sun Moon Empire’s rapidly advancing Soul Tools.
  • Secrecy and reemergence: After ten thousand years in seclusion, the Clear Sky Sect’s return threatens to reshape the balance of power across both continents.

  • Tang San and Xiao Wu: Xiao Wu questions whether the Divine Realm should interfere, but Tang San rationalizes his actions as indirect involvement.

Ch. 105You Have the Clear Sky Sect; I Have Spirit Hall

Chapter Summary: “You Have the Clear Sky Sect; I Have the Spirit Hall”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Ye Fan warns the assembled leaders that the newly emerged Clear Sky Sect is extremely dangerous.
  • He points out two suspicious facts:
    • The sect appeared immediately after the Body Sect and Shrek Academy were dealt with.
    • It has deep ties to Shrek Academy, particularly through the Sea God, Tang San.
  • Ye Fan reveals that the Clear Sky Sect’s two leaders have reached the god-level, information supposedly obtained from his “mysterious teacher.”
  • The revelation shocks Kong Deming, Jing Hongchen, the Silver Dragon King, and the others. However, Ye Fan explains that planar restrictions likely prevent the Clear Sky Sect’s god-level experts from freely using their full power.
  • Rather than immediately confronting the sect, the group decides to observe its movements while accumulating strength and waiting for Ye Fan’s mysterious teacher to awaken.
  • Ye Fan reveals that he, Xiao Xiao, and Fanfan established a faction called the Soul Hall six months earlier. He proposes restoring its former name: the Spirit Hall.
  • The Spirit Hall is intended to oppose the Clear Sky Sect symbolically and politically by reviving another legendary faction from ten thousand years ago.
  • Ye Fan explains that the Spirit Hall will focus on the Soul Spirit transmission method, which allows Soul Beasts to form contracts with humans, preserve their intelligence, and provide soul rings without being killed.
  • The group agrees to join the Spirit Hall and become its worshippers or representatives:
    • Kong Deming
    • Jing Hongchen
    • Douluo Luan Feng
    • The Silver Dragon King on behalf of the Soul Beast Clan
  • The Spirit Hall’s emergence ceremony is scheduled for the same day as the Clear Sky Sect’s announcement, creating a direct symbolic challenge.
  • Ye Fan privately hopes that his sister will appear when she sees the Spirit Hall emerge.

Character Developments

  • Ye Fan demonstrates strategic insight and political ambition. He uses the Clear Sky Sect’s emergence to launch the Spirit Hall and strengthen his own faction.
  • Kong Deming becomes increasingly impressed by Ye Fan’s foresight and accepts both the danger posed by the Clear Sky Sect and the value of the Spirit Hall.
  • Jing Hongchen continues to trust Ye Fan and readily supports his plans, partly because he believes in Ye Fan’s mysterious teacher.

  • Xiao Hongchen and Meng Hongchen remain firmly supportive of Ye Fan, with Meng Hongchen directly pushing Kong Deming to agree to join.
  • Douluo Luan Feng also accepts the Spirit Hall after learning that it may improve relations between humans and Soul Beasts.

Significant Themes

  • Strategic balance of power: Ye Fan counters the Clear Sky Sect by reviving the Spirit Hall, creating a political and ideological rival rather than confronting the sect directly.
  • Trust and manipulation: Ye Fan’s claims about his mysterious teacher carry great authority, allowing him to persuade powerful figures even though he privately acknowledges that he is exploiting the teacher’s reputation.
  • Human–Soul Beast reconciliation: The Soul Spirit method offers an alternative to hunting Soul Beasts and could fundamentally change relations between the two races.
  • Revival of historical legacies: Both the Clear Sky Sect and the Spirit Hall are ancient factions being brought back to influence the modern world.
  • Caution versus ambition: The Silver Dragon King’s hesitation contrasts with Ye Fan’s bold plans and highlights the danger posed by forces connected to the Divine Realm.
  • Political symbolism: Launching the Spirit Hall on the same day as the Clear Sky Sect’s emergence turns the event into a deliberate declaration of rivalry.

Character Interactions

  • Kong Deming repeatedly asks Ye Fan for further information and ultimately endorses his strategy.

  • Spirit Hall builds its Sun Moon Empire headquarters opposite the Royal Soul Engineering Academy and announces a ceremony to unveil a technology that could change the continent’s balance of power.
  • The great powers and empires weigh how to respond. The Star Luo emperor decides to send Princess Xu Jiujiu’s delegation to Spirit Hall’s ceremony while attending the Clear Sky Sect’s return himself. Other empires also split their delegations. The Sun Moon Empire’s plans shift when Crown Prince Xu Tianran does not attend the Clear Sky Sect’s event.
  • The Clear Sky Sect and Tang Sect react with fury to Spirit Hall’s return. In the Divine Realm, Tang San orders Niu Tian to prepare to destroy Spirit Hall.
  • A blonde girl in Bright City, revealed to be Ye Guyi, hears of Spirit Hall’s return and wonders if her “little brother” is involved. Hidden pursuers identify her as the angel’s heir and call for reinforcements.
  • At the Holy Spirit Cult’s altar, Ye Xishui is angered by the Sun Moon Empire’s support for Spirit Hall. Long Xiaoyao points out that the Clear Sky Sect’s simultaneous return may provoke conflict between the two powers. Ye Xishui sees an opportunity and orders the cult to monitor Spirit Hall.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ye Fan uses his political standing and alliances to turn Spirit Hall’s return into a coordinated, continent-wide effort.

  • Kong Deming and Jing Hongchen lend Spirit Hall their expertise and institutional influence, strengthening its technological foundation.
  • The Clear Sky Sect’s leaders reveal the depth of their hatred for Spirit Hall through their explosive reaction to its return; Tang San’s order escalates the threat.
  • Ye Guyi is drawn toward Spirit Hall’s news by a personal connection, but her pursuers’ discovery places her in immediate danger.
  • Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao debate the threat Spirit Hall poses. Long Xiaoyao’s strategic perspective redirects Ye Xishui from anger toward exploiting the rivalry.

Significant themes

  • Power and political balance: Spirit Hall’s technology, Sun Moon Empire backing, and the Clear Sky Sect’s return unsettle the existing order.
  • Old grudges and renewed conflict: A ten-thousand-year rivalry threatens to erupt again.
  • Strategic diplomacy: The empires hedge their bets by sending separate delegations to both ceremonies.

  • Ye Fan led Spirit Hall’s senior figures into the square, accompanied by Kong Deming, Jing Hongchen, and three formidable beings in human form: the Silver Dragon King, Ice Dragon King, and Fire Dragon King. Their presence impressed and alarmed the attendees.
  • Ye Fan revealed that he was both a Sun Moon Empire minister and a descendant of the Angel Clan, provoking shock throughout the crowd. The revelation moved Ye Guyi, his long-lost sister, to tears.
  • Hidden above the ceremony, Holy Spirit Cult figures—including Ye Xishui, Zhongli Wu, and Feng Ling—observed the new power. After learning of Ye Fan’s Angel Clan heritage, they resolved that Spirit Hall must be destroyed and discussed a formation being prepared against it.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ye Fan presents himself confidently as the founder and public face of Spirit Hall. He privately directs the Silver Dragon King to monitor hidden Ultimate Douluo-level observers and prevent interference.
  • The Silver Dragon King detects the concealed experts overhead. She can identify two as Ultimate Douluo-level but cannot determine the third’s full strength.
  • Xu Tianran covets Spirit Hall’s power and the Silver Dragon King, while resenting Ju Zi’s evident affection for Ye Fan. He suppresses his hostility for the moment, waiting for a better opportunity.
  • Ju Zi, now carrying a more commanding and battle-hardened presence, softens and smiles when she sees Ye Fan. He acknowledges her discreetly, though Xu Tianran mistakes his gesture as directed at himself.
  • Ye Guyi recognizes Ye Fan as her missing younger brother. Her companion Wei’er notices her distress, but Guyi quickly conceals it.
  • Long Xiaoyao and Zhongli Wu debate the origins and strength of Spirit Hall’s three mysterious experts. Long considers the possibility that one exceeds Ultimate Douluo level.

Ch. 108Kong Lexuan Advances to Titled Douluo

Plot points and events

  • Ye Fan introduces Spirit Hall’s new Spirit Transmission Method, presented by Kong Deming and his daughter, Kong Lexuan. The method is intended to help humans and Soul Beasts coexist while strengthening Soul Masters.
  • Kong Lexuan, already a level-ninety Soul Douluo, undergoes the ritual with a Transformation Immortal Herb supplied by Ye Fan. It becomes her Soul Spirit, a Golden Starlight Grass.
  • The process grants her a ninth, Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and propels her directly to level ninety-five, making her a Super Douluo titled Moon.
  • Ye Fan explains that Soul Spirits can provide suitable Soul Rings, potentially allowing a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Spirit to grant three such rings. They can also retain some Soul Skills and fight independently.
  • The demonstration astonishes the gathered empires, sects, academies, and Holy Spirit Cult members, who recognize that Spirit Hall’s technology could transform Soul Master society.

Character developments and interactions

  • Kong Lexuan becomes a Titled Douluo and Super Douluo, demonstrating the method’s power and offering Spirit Hall’s younger generation a formidable role model.
  • Kong Deming guides his daughter through the ritual, while Ye Fan supplies the Soul Spirit and uses the public demonstration to promote Spirit Hall’s achievement.
  • Xiao Hongchen, Meng Hongchen, and their peers are inspired by Kong Lexuan’s sudden rise and silently resolve to train harder.
  • Xu Tianran grows wary of Spirit Hall’s increasing strength and decides to hasten his effort to seize the throne. Ju Zi understands the significance of the Immortal Herb.
  • Ye Xishui, Zhongli Wu, and Feng Ling watch the demonstration without envy, confident in the Holy Spirit Cult’s own resources. Elsewhere, Feng Ling and Zhongli Wu prepare to help Xu Tianran take power; Long Xiaoyao hesitates but ultimately keeps his doubts to himself.

Ch. 109Even Across Ten Thousand Miles, We'll Come for You

Key plot points and events

  • At the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy, Ye Fan offers the four empires Spirit Hall’s Spirit Transmission Method free, provided they supply facilities and personnel. Spirit Hall will provide the technology, training, and contact with Soul Beasts.
  • The offer is a strategic way to establish Spirit Hall’s presence across the empires. The Xingluo, Heaven Dou, and Dou Ling delegations reserve judgment until they can consult their rulers; the Sun Moon Empire’s Xu Tianran resents the plan but is constrained by powerful factions around him.
  • In Shrek City, the Clear Sky Sect, Shrek Academy, and Tang Sect announce an alliance, pledging to stand or fall together. The Clear Sky Sect reveals a formidable force of high-level fighters, while Shrek transfers its Soul Engineer Academy to the Tang Sect, which will supply the allies with hidden weapons and Soul Tools.
  • Clear Sky Sect master Niu Tian condemns Spirit Hall and proposes that the continent’s “righteous” forces unite against it. Huo Yuhao opens a spatial passage to the arena where Ye Fan is, and Niu Tian and Tai Tan enlarge and stabilize it. Niu Tian then invites the assembled forces to cross the vast distance and attack Spirit Hall.

Character developments and interactions

  • Xu Jiujiu keeps her Spirit Hall allegiance secret while representing Xingluo, waiting for the right moment to free herself from the empire’s constraints.
  • Wei Xin, Dou Ling’s second prince, sees the Spirit Transmission Method as a chance to boost his influence and possibly his claim to the throne, but agrees to seek his father’s approval.
  • Xu Tianran grows more hostile toward Ye Fan, fearing Spirit Hall’s expansion will create another power center inside the Sun Moon Empire. His frustration is compounded by his dependence on other factions and his resentment over his disability.
  • Ye Fan remains calm, having anticipated the delegations’ responses; his offer advances Spirit Hall’s influence without requiring them to accept immediately.
  • Niu Tian and Tai Tan demonstrate their immense power by strengthening Huo Yuhao’s spatial gate, while Huo Yuhao provides the means for the alliance’s sudden long-range move.
  • The scene ends with the allied leaders confronting the gathered delegations with a direct call to join their campaign against Spirit Hall.

Significant themes

  • Power through influence: Spirit Hall’s technology offer is both a practical benefit and a means of embedding itself within rival states.
  • Political rivalry and insecurity: Xu Tianran fears losing control as powerful institutions and factions compete for influence.
  • Unity and confrontation: The Clear Sky Sect, Shrek Academy, and Tang Sect unite against a shared enemy, turning political opposition into a potential military campaign.
  • Contrasting uses of technology and power: Ye Fan seeks influence through cooperation and training, while Niu Tian’s alliance prepares to use overwhelming force.

Ch. 110The Clear Sky Sect Descends—Who Are You, Old Man?

Plot points

  • Niu Tian forces the gathered empires, sects, and academies to follow the Clear Sky Sect through a spatial passage. He tells Xuan Zi to lead Shrek’s forces against Spirit Hall.
  • The passage opens above the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy in Bright City, bringing the Clear Sky Sect—and then the other delegations—to the Sun Moon Empire capital.
