The cries of "Fire!" had barely rung out when Xie Chen's phone vibrated again.
He quickly opened it, and with one cold glance, the message came into view—[Jump from the highest rooftop, or all of Chinatown will burn to ashes!]
Xie Chen deleted it the second he finished reading. By the time Huo Wenye snatched the phone away, it was too late.
"What are you doing?" the latter asked, his eyes bloodshot.
Xie Chen grinned. "Ahem, just some filthy insults. I was afraid they'd dirty our Beijing socialite Buddha's eyes."
Although Huo Wenye did not fully believe him, the message had already been deleted, leaving him no choice. He merely asked in a hoarse voice, "What do we do now?"
"You go put out the fire. I'll check out the rooftop." Xie Chen spoke as though it were perfectly natural. After giving Huo Wenye a deep look, he turned to leave.
But the moment he took a step, his arm was grabbed. "Why do we have to split up? Are you hiding something from me?"
"Shouldn't we divide up and save time?" Xie Chen deliberately sounded relaxed. "You've got so many people stationed around here. Are you really worried something will happen to me?! The sooner we settle this, the sooner we can leave, right?"
Huo Wenye still refused to let go. He narrowed his eyes as though trying to see through something.
Xie Chen's expression suddenly turned serious. His lips caught Huo Wenye's without warning, tangling deeply with his before he whispered by his ear, "Wait for me. Once this is over, I'll go register with you!"
"Really?" Huo Wenye asked dazedly, almost foolishly.
"Of course." Xie Chen had already run some distance away. He looked back with a brilliant smile.
"Brother Ye, I love you!"
Huo Wenye froze.
