Tech Company's technology was at the global forefront, having once launched rockets into outer space and maintained cooperative relationships with many countries, holding vast resources.
The branch located in Jiangbei City was just one of many, yet in this apocalyptic era, it was still thriving.
I reckon this Tech Company should have quite a few good things...
Lin Dong began plotting in his heart.
However, Tech Company had at least a thousand Awakened. Although Lin Dong was very strong, he had not yet reached the point of being truly invincible, and relying solely on himself, he could not wipe them all out.
Even with Tank, Little Eight, Doctor, and two thousand elite zombies in tow, charging in might not necessarily succeed.
Unless he could command a million-strong horde of corpses, at which point he could charge at whoever he wanted!
Perhaps... it was time to expand his territory.
Lin Dong's two thousand-plus subordinates were only from the area surrounding the building; the reason for taking them in initially was simply so he could hunker down at home without being disturbed.
Now Lin Dong had thoughts of recruiting troops and expanding his territory.
Over the next few days.
Lin Dong continuously ate meat and drank blood, absorbing all five crystal cores, and his strength increased by another large margin.
The range of his Corpse Domain expanded. If fully deployed, it could last for twenty minutes, and its might was even more formidable.
Nightfall.
Darkness enveloped the earth, and a blood-red moon hung high in the distance, dyeing the sky a dark crimson. It was another night of slaughter.
In recent days, the area around the building was not peaceful.
This was because there were always zombies from other territories wandering over.
They hissed at Tank and his subordinates, full of provocation.
The two factions of zombies frequently tore at each other.
Of course, Tank was not one to put up with children's games, and he smashed the heads of all those foreign zombies to pieces.
At this moment, Lin Dong stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out into the darkness.
On the cluttered and ruined street, a "squeak-squeak-squeak" sound suddenly echoed, followed by the appearance of pairs of eerie green eyes flashing with a bloodthirsty gleam.
From the sewer by the roadside, a swarm of giant rats crawled out, their sizes easily as large as small piglets.
The rats shrieked strangely, their nostrils twitching as if searching for prey, and they quickly set their sights on the zombies beneath the building, swarming forward all at once to leap onto the zombies' bodies and tear at them with sharp teeth.
"Roar--"
The zombie's body was covered in giant rats, swaying precariously as a painful roar issued from its throat.
It did not hold out for long.
It collapsed to the ground.
Then it was devoured entirely by the rats, as if melting away amidst the horde.
These mutated beasts could treat zombies as a delicacy.
However, the commotion of the tearing immediately startled the other zombies, who rushed over in a frenzy to attack the giant rats.
Yet the rats were agile in form, dodging back and forth with extreme flexibility, making them very difficult to catch.
They even hopped back and forth repeatedly, toying with the zombies.
Furious, it drove the zombies to howl in rage.
Yet just as the rats were feeling pleased with themselves, a wind-like shadow suddenly appeared, and amidst the flashing of sharp five-fingered claws, those rats were sliced into six pieces.
It was none other than the female zombie Little Eight.
With her footwork and speed, she could completely crush those rats, a bizarre smile hanging on her face as she treated the slaughter of the rats as a game.
Not only that.
Beneath the night veil, another burly figure appeared. He grabbed a rat with his massive hands and began exerting force with his five fingers, rendering completely futile the frantic kicking of the rat's four limbs in mid-air and the piercing cries from its throat, until it was finally crushed raw.
Tank licked the rat blood from his hands, a look of excitement on his face.
Immediately afterward, he lunged forward again, stamping a rat into a bloody mush with one foot, or grabbing a rat and twisting his hands to snap it forcefully into two halves.
Tank's posture and movements were practically the same as snapping a cucumber apart...
Those rats were cowed by the shock and began fleeing in all directions. Before long, they vanished into the darkness, and the entire rat swarm scattered to the winds.
"Heh-heh-heh-heh~~~"
Tank chuckled foolishly, hauling two dripping giant rats and trotting all the way to a nearby alleyway before devouring them like eating a watermelon.
Fresh blood splattered everywhere, staining his face with juices...
He didn't dare openly devour them on the street because Lin Dong had said to eat fewer dirty things, as those were all junk food.
If the boss saw him, he might earn his disgust.
Incidents similar to these rat attacks and zombie provocations had occurred frequently in recent days, and Lin Dong had grown used to them, simply not bothering to care at all.
Early the next morning.
Heavy dark clouds shrouded the sky, as black as ink, and before long, a torrential downpour began.
Yet these raindrops were far from ordinary; mixed within the water stains were strands of black insects falling from the sky.
It was an insect rain.
Those insects were about the size of a small pinky finger, landing on the streets or abandoned vehicles with a pattering din.
Before long, they formed a dense, massive blanket.
"Hisss..."
Inside the building, Su Xiaorou couldn't help drawing a sharp breath, feeling her scalp tingle. The bizarre occurrences of the apocalypse were growing more numerous by the day; it had actually started raining insects, and she didn't know what else might happen in the future...
Lin Dong gazed out the window, his brow furrowing slightly.
The weather today was truly awful...
Yet prior to the apocalypse, television broadcasts had once reported that "fish rains" had fallen in certain places because tornadoes swept fish up into the sky before dropping them back down.
Presumably, this "insect rain" shared roughly the same logic.
Only, these insects were different from ordinary ones; a ring of sharp teeth grew inside their mouths, and they would burrow into the flesh and blood of zombies.
Zombies that were originally nimble in form would turn stiff after the insects burrowed inside, as if their bodies were no longer under their own control.
Fortunately, Lin Dong's subordinates were all elites with exceptionally high intelligence. Before the insects could burrow into their bodies, they plucked them right out, or even tossed them into their mouths to chew vigorously.
Tank, in particular, with his thick skin and flesh, wasn't afraid of insects at all. He scooped up a handful and poured them all straight into his mouth like eating crispy noodles in his childhood days.
He probably felt the taste wasn't half bad...
So he tilted his head back, opened his wide mouth wide, and aimed it at the sky just like drinking rainwater.
"Ah--"
"Thanks for the bounty of nature..."
Yet within just a few minutes, the insect rain came to an end, and insects were everywhere on the streets outside.
Disliking sunlight, they scurried into sewers, soil, or corners to avoid the glare.
In the alley beside the building.
Tank's burly physique squatted against the base of the wall, reaching out to grab a handful of insects from the ground before sending them into his mouth one by one like cracking melon seeds.
Little Eight and Doctor walked over, tilting their heads to size him up.
"Hey, the boss said not to eat junk food."
"Shh!"
Tank made a silencing gesture, meaning to keep it quiet and avoid making a loud noise, then handed the insects in his hand out toward Little Eight.
Little Eight tilted her head, her eyes appraising them for a moment.
She seemed to find them rather appetizing.
So she picked up an insect, placed it in her mouth, and tasted it.
"Mmm, so good!"
Immediately following that, she and Tank squatted together in the corner, beginning to "crack melon seeds" like little children sneaking snacks.
Doctor folded his arms, leaning his back against the wall, utterly speechless at the behavior of these two zombies.
"The boss is going to find out about you two."
"No he won't... The boss just loves staying inside, and usually doesn't come out at all."
Little Eight said.
She looked as though she understood Lin Dong very well.
Yet right as she spoke, a sinister face suddenly revealed itself at the entrance of the alley.
