The carbon-based chip was complete!
This was probably the best news Lu Zhou had heard in days.
After a brief moment of surprise, he did not hesitate. He immediately asked Yang Xu to take him to the Computational Materials Research Institute, where they found the laboratory housing the carbon-based chip project team.
When the two arrived, the laboratory was remarkably quiet.
A group of researchers with dangerously receding hairlines stood around a piece of experimental equipment roughly twice a person's height, while one of them carefully adjusted something.
Rather than interrupt them, Lu Zhou held Yang Xu back and waited by the door for a while.
Soon, murmurs of amazement began spreading through the crowd.
Looking at the excited expressions on the researchers' faces, Lu Zhou could guess without asking that they had discovered something extraordinary.
Growing a little impatient, Yang Xu turned to Lu Zhou.
"Let's go over."
Lu Zhou nodded.
"Sure."
They wound their way past a jumble of experimental equipment and into the laboratory. As they approached the apparatus, the researchers finally noticed Lu Zhou and Yang Xu.
A middle-aged man in the crowd who looked every inch an academic appeared surprised and hurried over.
"Director Yang? Dean Lu?"
"This is the project leader," Yang Xu introduced smoothly, knowing that Lu Zhou had never met the man before. "Professor Wu Tianqun."
"Hello, Professor Wu."
"Hello, hello!" Flattered, Professor Wu clasped Lu Zhou's right hand and shook it enthusiastically. "Academician Lu, what brings you here in person?"
"I heard the experiment had produced results, so Yang Xu dragged me over." Releasing his hand, Lu Zhou looked at the apparatus amid the crowd and asked with a smile, "Is it complete?"
Standing ramrod straight, Professor Wu answered, his face glowing.
"This is a replication experiment. The first experiment succeeded
