Bazdilot usually used magecraft to force himself into deep sleep. Five minutes at a time was enough to leave him feeling no fatigue.

Today, Bazdilot went into deep sleep as usual. But when he opened his eyes again, he found himself aboard a ship, with a kid in front of him talking nonstop.

Dozens of other people stood around him, listening intently to the kid. At the end, they cheered together, "All glory to the Argo!"

When Bazdilot opened his eyes once more, he understood. The ship in his dream had been the Argo. Through their magical connection, he had entered one of Alcides's memories.

Bazdilot said, "So that was Jason? A kid like that was captain of the Argo?"

Alcides suddenly appeared. "I thought I heard you mention someone's name. Did you see him through our magical connection?"

Bazdilot said, "I saw a kid rambling on and on."

Alcides said, "Yes, he certainly talked too much. Atalanta complained about him more than once."

Bazdilot said, "Why would someone as powerful as you follow a kid like that?"

Alcides said, "Some saw me as a hero. Others saw me as a monster. But no one saw me as a person. He was the only one who saw me as neither hero nor monster, just one of his crew."

"I'm telling you this for one reason. If I hear you disparage him again, I won't hesitate to kill you."

Alcides's tone made it clear to Bazdilot that he was not joking.

Suddenly, one of the Cottilio Family's men rushed in, shouting, "They're here! They've come inside!"

Bazdilot said, "Who has?" Then he sensed a surge of magical energy entering the meat-processing plant.

Alcides said, "A Servant and a mage. But there's another presence as well. Strange."
