Background

Yuan Shikai was a thirty-five-year-old man in his previous life before transmigrating into the body of a five- or six-year-old boy in the Type-Moon world. He inherited the memories of a young member of the Genji Clan, a once top-tier Japanese mage family whose magical standing had collapsed after a bloody incident centuries earlier. 1 2

Although the Genji retained extensive mundane influence through business, politics, legitimate society, and the underworld, Yuan regarded that influence as insufficient protection against supernatural threats. He began a daily regimen of kendo, magecraft study, and Reinforcement practice while using his foreknowledge to identify the era and prepare for future Holy Grail Wars. 2

At six, he secured succession as Genji Clan head by turning a council challenge into a demonstration of his political competence. The elders learned that many of the clan’s operating models were his proposals, and the succession was approved in secret until his public inheritance at age ten. He received the clan heirloom Dojigiri Yasutsuna but refused the system’s offer to reclaim it for twenty lottery draws. 3

On his tenth birthday, Yuan formally inherited the Genji Group’s assets. His early business reforms and investments increased the clan’s assets more than tenfold, while he also moved the family’s mundane influence toward politics. 4
