Everything was going according to plan. Yuan Shikai only needed to release fluctuations of magical energy to attract prey.
Tiamat only needed to wait for the prey to come to her. Their teamwork was simply flawless.
They soon caught a hundred sea creatures. With the idea that catching more today meant catching less tomorrow, they did not end the hunt right away.
Yuan Shikai discovered that besides the sea-creature monsters they could use as ingredients, there was another kind of enemy that could not be eaten: hostile, indescribable creatures.
They had bodies resembling monsters, but their appearance was nothing more than a mass of pitch blackness, steeped in an ominous aura.
They tried to approach, but Tiamat destroyed them before they could get close. They left nothing behind when they died.
These indescribable creatures made up a large proportion of the enemies, seriously slowing the hunt.

He had been fine before making the connection, but now the more he looked, the more alike they seemed. What enemies had there been in Imaginary Scramble?
It had been a long time, but he vaguely remembered an enormous whale, apparently named Alpha.
Yuan Shikai suddenly gave a self-mocking smile. How could there possibly be such a coincidence?
Then an enormous figure appeared. It seemed to possess a short-range blink ability.
It blinked right past Tiamat, opening its cavernous maw at Yuan Shikai in an attempt to swallow him.
Unfortunately for it, before that cavernous maw could close, Tiamat in her juvenile form pulled Yuan Shikai out.
Yuan Shikai could have dodged on his own, but the resistance of the Imaginary Number Sea meant his movements could not keep up with his reactions.
