Background

Qing Lin was born with both human and Snakefolk blood in the Tagore Desert, where hostility between the two races made mixed-blood children targets of prejudice. Her green scales caused others to reject and abuse her; by the time Xiao Yan met her in Stone Desert City, she was frail, malnourished, and accustomed to being treated as a monster 106 107.

Her mixed heritage also gave her the rare Three-Flower Jade Serpent Eyes, an exceptional eye technique associated almost exclusively with human–Snakefolk descendants. The eyes were beginning to awaken when Xiao Yan recognized her identity and potential 106 107.

Xiao Yan accepted Qing Lin without hesitation, promised that no one would bully her while he was present, healed her accumulated injuries, and formally took her as his personal maid. His protection became the foundation of Qing Lin's lasting loyalty 106 107.

Qing Lin initially appeared as a petite, undernourished girl who kept her head lowered in fear. Xiao Yan's medical treatment quickly restored her health, leaving her noticeably more confident and lively 106 108.

Her devotion to Xiao Yan is absolute, but it is not passive. She cultivates intensely to repay his kindness, remains at her post through three months of his seclusion, and refuses Queen Medusa entry despite being only a Nine-Star Dou Practitioner 108 124.

When Xiao Ding and Xiao Li are threatened by Lü Man, Qing Lin immediately uses the possible destruction of her own eyes as leverage. She rejects Sky Snake Palace's offer of status, discipleship, and future advancement because she refuses to leave Xiao Yan 128.

Qing Lin first serves near the Desert Iron Mercenary Corps, where Xiao Yan discovers her identity and Snakefolk heritage. After witnessing her fear of rejection, he promises to protect her, heals the injuries caused by long-term abuse, and makes her his personal maid 106 107.

Cultivation Under Xiao Yan

Xiao Yan repairs Qing Lin's body with medicinal baths and pills, personally monitors her recovery, and begins her cultivation. Her exceptional perception allows her to reach First Stage Dou Qi in under half a day; Yao Lao subsequently provides a complete inheritance suited to her eyes 108.

Green Lotus Core Flame Expedition

Qing Lin accompanies Xiao Yan into the underground magma region because her eyes can sense and subdue serpent-type Magical Beasts. She contracts the Two-Headed Fire Spirit Serpent, gains access to its memories, and survives the dangerous energy feedback from its Fifth-Tier evolution through Xiao Yan's sealing array 109 111 113 115.

Guarding Xiao Yan's Seclusion

While Xiao Yan refines the Green Lotus Core Flame, Qing Lin guards the entrance for three months. She refuses to yield even when Queen Medusa demands entry, using Xiao Yan's formations to uphold his order that no one disturb him 123 124.

Sky Snake Palace Pursuit

Sky Snake Palace traces the awakening of Qing Lin's eyes and sends Lü Man and White Fang to capture her. Qing Lin protects Xiao Ding and Xiao Li by threatening to destroy her own eyes, then rejects the Palace's offer to make her a Holy Maiden. Xiao Yan returns before she can be taken, and Qing Lin contracts White Fang after his surrender 113 128 129.

Return to the Xiao Clan
