It was one of the few pieces of public knowledge that wizards could learn without paying a price.

Proper Wizard Apprentices knew of it, as did First-Ring Warlocks. Some Extraordinary Magic Beasts and Abyss Demons, however, had only heard of the All-Knowing Eye and were utterly bewildered by the "Equivalent Exchange" rune.

"To wizards, the All-Knowing Eye is what the Abyssal Will is to demons." The warlock in the white mask paused before explaining, "The Equivalent Exchange Rune is roughly the equivalent of the Abyssal Sacrifice Rune."

"The difference is that Abyssal Sacrifice takes the offering first. Whether you receive anything in return depends entirely on the Demon God's mood."
