When an unranked Lineage challenged a ranked Lineage for a seat on the Supreme Council, it was called the Battle of Contesting Currents.

The Battle of Contesting Currents was a war between Lineages. In a sense, it was a comprehensive test of the two Lineages' strength, influence, connections, and resources.

The winner rose, the loser fell—there was no possibility of a win-win outcome!

According to the rules, the Battle of Contesting Currents used a best-of-nine format. Whether the challenging Lineage or the defending Lineage, whoever secured five victories would win the seat contested by both sides.

The rules also allowed a Lineage representative participating in the Battle of Contesting Currents to fight another match after winning their first individual battle.

Shen Ze had hired Gao Jing to fight by offering a Totem Soul Crystal as payment, and the latter had to win two matches.

But how could that be easy?

The Battle of Contesting Currents was extraordinarily intense and brutal. The Lineage representatives who fought faced no restrictions on profession, nor were they prohibited from using Witchcraft Artifacts, talismans, potions, or other external items.
