Ch. 301Face Me Together

Chapter Summary: “Face Me Together”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The twenty Sternritter continue bombarding the Mist Village army with homing Explosive Flame Arrows. The attacks penetrate cover and detonate with devastating accuracy, destroying the Mist formation and throwing its soldiers into panic.
  • Mist commanders order their troops to scatter and defend themselves, but the barrage causes heavy casualties.
  • The Seven Ninja Swordsmen—Suikazan Fuguki, Biwa Jūzō, Munashi Jinpachi, Kushimaru Kuriarare, and their companions—decide that stopping the archers is impossible from a distance. They launch a coordinated assault toward Hyūga Qingchuan, believing that killing the leader will collapse the enemy force.
  • The swordsmen force their way through the arrow barrage using their chakra, weapons, and Body Flicker Technique. They rapidly close the distance, reaching a range where they expect the ranged Sternritter to be vulnerable.
  • Qingchuan remains calm and reveals that he is not dependent solely on archery. He orders the Sternritter to disperse and fight independently, then creates ten Shadow Clones.
  • Instead of protecting Qingchuan, the clones use Hirenkyaku to leap over the Seven Swordsmen and attack the confused Mist army in the rear, intending to eliminate the remaining soldiers before they can escape.
  • Qingchuan draws his previously sheathed Spirit Particle blade, Soul-Cutter, and releases overwhelming Spiritual Pressure. With Blut Arterie patterns spreading across his arm, he challenges all seven swordsmen to fight him simultaneously.
  • The chapter ends with the Seven Ninja Swordsmen facing Qingchuan in a direct confrontation, while the Shadow Clones begin “harvesting” the Mist troops.

Character Developments

  • Hyūga Qingchuan is shown to be far more versatile and confident than a conventional ranged commander. He shifts effortlessly from long-range attacks to close combat and deliberately separates the Seven Swordsmen from their army.
  • Qingchuan’s arrogance becomes more pronounced. Rather than retreating or relying on his subordinates, he welcomes the strongest enemies personally and treats them as potential sources of “nourishment.”
  • The Sternritter grow intoxicated by their newfound power. Their fear and uncertainty have been replaced by killing frenzy and fervor as they massacre the Mist soldiers from a safe distance.
  • Hyūga Ryosuke and the other archers briefly lose confidence when the Seven Swordsmen break through the barrage, highlighting their vulnerability in close combat and their reliance on Qingchuan’s leadership.
  • The Seven Ninja Swordsmen remain aggressive and tactically focused, correctly identifying Qingchuan as the key target. However, their confidence is shaken when his clones ignore them and his true combat ability is revealed.

Significant Themes

  • Overwhelming power and battlefield control: Qingchuan controls both distance and positioning, turning the Mist army’s numerical advantage into a liability.
  • Arrogance versus adaptability: The Seven Swordsmen assume that reaching the archers will secure victory, but Qingchuan has anticipated their strategy and prepared a counterattack.
  • The transformation of soldiers through power: The Sternritter’s easy victories awaken bloodlust and devotion, showing how power can encourage cruelty and fanaticism.
  • Leadership and psychological warfare: Qingchuan maintains complete composure, while his confidence intimidates the enemy and strengthens his own forces.
  • Expendability and dehumanization: The Mist army is treated as “fodder,” while Qingchuan views enemies as resources or “nourishment,” emphasizing the chapter’s brutal, utilitarian view of warfare.

Character Interactions

  • Mist commanders desperately shout orders to the panicking army, but their attempts to restore formation fail.
  • Fuguki and Jūzō rally the Seven Swordsmen, urging them to ignore the casualties and charge Qingchuan directly.
  • The Seven Swordsmen collectively target Qingchuan, believing his death will cause the opposing force to collapse.
  • Qingchuan orders the Sternritter to disperse, then uses his clones to bypass and humiliate the Seven Swordsmen rather than confront them immediately.
  • After sending the clones toward the Mist army, Qingchuan directly taunts the Seven Swordsmen and invites all seven to attack him together, setting up the chapter’s climactic battle.

Ch. 302Eight Gates: Fifth Gate

Summary: “Eight Gates: Fifth Gate”

Key plot points/events

  • Hyūga Qingchuan uses Shadow Clones to slaughter the Mist Village army while his real body confronts the Seven Ninja Swordsmen.
  • The Seven Swordsmen attack him together, enraged by his perceived arrogance.
  • Qingchuan’s “Soul-Cutter” — a high-density beam of Spirit Particles vibrating millions of times per second — proves powerful enough to clash with the legendary blades.
  • Tongcao Yebait breaks away to attack twenty Hyūga Branch House archers maintaining a long-range formation.
  • Might Guy suddenly intervenes, blocking Yebait’s Helmet Splitter with a kick and protecting the archers.
  • Qingchuan tells the Hyūga archers to act freely, turning the battle into a more mobile engagement.
  • The chapter ends with Guy opening the Fifth Gate (Gate of Closing) to fight Tongcao Yebait.

Character developments

  • Hyūga Qingchuan: Demonstrates overwhelming confidence, fighting all Seven Swordsmen with a single body while clones handle the army. He trusts Guy to cover his allies and adapts tactics when the archers lose formation advantage.
  • Might Guy: Shows his signature hot-blooded “youth” philosophy, protecting comrades without hesitation. He acknowledges Qingchuan’s influence by deciding to open the Fifth Gate, embracing the idea of pushing beyond limits with no retreat.

Significant themes

  • Arrogance vs. dignity: The Seven Swordsmen see Qingchuan’s strategy as an insult to their reputation and react with fury.
  • Comradeship and protection: Guy’s intervention embodies the theme of protecting one’s allies at all costs.
  • Sacrifice and pushing beyond limits: Guy’s opening of the Fifth Gate highlights the willingness to risk one’s body for a greater cause.

Character interactions

  • Qingchuan duels the Seven Swordsmen, showcasing a clash of raw strength and technique.
  • Tongcao Yebait openly mocks Guy as a “circus clown,” setting up a direct confrontation.
  • Qingchuan gives orders to the Hyūga Branch House members, freeing them to fight independently.
  • Guy’s arrival and defiant stance shift the dynamic, giving Qingchuan’s forces room to counterattack.

Ch. 303You Know Nothing About Sharpness

Key Plot Points / Events

  • Might Guy activates the Eight Gates, gaining red skin and green chakra vapor; he physically overwhelms Tongcao Yebait and his massive blunt sword Kabutowari.
  • Guy opens the Sixth Gate and unleashes Morning Peacock—a storm of flaming, friction-ignited punches—completely defeating Yebait, who is blasted unconscious and charred; his sword is knocked away.
  • Meanwhile, Hyuga Qingchuan fights the remaining Six (actually five?) Swordsmen single-handedly. He uses his high-frequency vibrating Spirit Particle blade to slice through Kuriarare Kushimaru’s supposedly indestructible steel wires.
  • Qingchuan’s Defensive Blood Armor lets him ignore blades slicing his arms, leaving only shallow marks.
  • When Munashi Jinpachi tries to leave the fight to help Yebait, Qingchuan manifests a Spirit Bow in his left hand and fires explosive arrows to pin him down, demonstrating ranged sniping and close-quarters combat simultaneously.
  • Qingchuan declares that no one may leave, effectively trapping the Swordsmen in the battle.

Character Developments

  • Might Guy is shown even stronger than in canon with the Eight Gates, but remains emotionally driven by “burning youth” and refuses to waste the stage Qingchuan created for him.
  • Hyuga Qingchuan is cold, confident, and tactical: he uses his Byakugan’s 360° vision, Spirit Particles, blades, and pressure to single-handedly act as both cage and executioner.
  • The Seven Ninja Swordsmen feel real fear for the first time, especially at Qingchuan overwhelming them while still stopping any retreat.

Significant Themes

  • “True sharpness” transcends physical steel—Qingchuan’s Spirit Particle/high-frequency blade easily breaks “unbreakable” wires and weapons.
  • One man as an army: Qingchuan’s combined close-range and long-range abilities make him a one-person battlefield control.
  • Synergy between teammates: Guy handles his duel while Qingchuan keeps everyone else trapped, enabling Guy’s victory.

Character Interactions

  • Guy vs. Tongcao Yebait: overwhelming physical power vs. heavy weaponry; ends with Yebait utterly defeated.
  • Qingchuan vs. Kuriarare Kushimaru: Qingchuan breaks his hidden wire technique, mocking him with “You know nothing about ‘sharpness.’”
  • Qingchuan vs. Munashi Jinpachi: Qingchuan snipes him for trying to leave, asserting absolute dominance.
  • The Swordsmen’s mutual dread and helplessness as Qingchuan switches between bow and blade while fending off multiple attackers.

  • Munashi Jinpachi uses his Blast Sword: Shibuki to launch a powerful Explosive Blade Art: Happa Rekkōshi attack on Qingchuan.
  • Qingchuan survives both attacks unscathed, revealing his Defensive Blood Armor and shocking the Mist Village ninjas.
  • Qingchuan enters Sage Mode, displaying immense chakra and pressure.

Character Developments

  • Kuriarare Kushimaru and Munashi Jinpachi attempt to work together to take down Qingchuan, ultimately failing.

Ch. 305This Is What an Explosive Blade Is

Chapter Summary: “This Is What an Explosive Blade Is”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Hyuga Qingchuan kills Munashi Jinpachi, one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, by using his Spirit Particle Sword to implant Explosive Tag markings throughout Jinpachi’s body. The markings detonate internally, incinerating him completely and leaving only ash.
  • Qingchuan calmly washes the blood from himself and turns his attention to the remaining five swordsmen, intimidating them with his cold Byakugan and overwhelming presence.
  • Suikazan Fuguki, commander of the Mist attack force, refuses to retreat. He attacks Qingchuan with Samehada, believing the sword can drain Qingchuan’s chakra and eventually exhaust him.
  • Qingchuan deliberately allows Samehada to approach and offers it his hand. However, the dense, high-frequency Spirit Particles in his body are poisonous to the chakra-eating weapon. Samehada experiences them as countless internal blades rather than nourishment.
  • Samehada panics, screams, attacks Fuguki to escape his grasp, and flees across the battlefield. This shocks everyone, especially the other swordsmen, since Samehada is famed for its ferocity and loyalty to combat.
  • Fuguki is left wounded, humiliated, and terrified after realizing that Qingchuan is far beyond an ordinary young ninja.
  • While everyone is distracted by Samehada’s betrayal, Kushimaru Kuriarare—the assassin wielding the needle-like sword Nuibari—silently appears behind Qingchuan and launches a surprise attack.

Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan: Displays extreme confidence, cruelty, and control. He demonstrates that his Spirit Particle techniques can both destroy enemies internally and overpower weapons designed to consume chakra. His calm contempt makes him appear almost inhuman to the opposing forces.
  • Munashi Jinpachi: Is decisively defeated and killed, establishing the lethal power of Qingchuan’s explosive technique.
  • Suikazan Fuguki: Changes from an aggressive commander into a frightened and humiliated opponent. His faith in Samehada and his belief that Qingchuan must eventually run out of energy are shattered.
  • Samehada: Reveals an instinctive fear of Qingchuan’s Spirit Particles. Rather than serving its wielder, it abandons and injures Fuguki to preserve itself.
  • Kushimaru Kuriarare: Reinforces his identity as a patient and deceptive assassin by waiting for the perfect distraction before attacking.

Significant Themes

  • Overwhelming power and terror: Qingchuan’s abilities transform him from a perceived “Konoha brat” into a monstrous, almost supernatural battlefield threat.
  • Hubris and miscalculation: The Mist swordsmen underestimate Qingchuan because of his age and appearance, only to discover that their familiar weapons and tactics are useless against him.
  • Predator versus predator: Samehada, normally a terrifying weapon that devours chakra, becomes prey when confronted with Qingchuan’s incompatible and destructive Spirit Particles.
  • Psychological warfare: Qingchuan’s calm speech, contemptuous attitude, and refusal to defend himself intensify the enemies’ fear as much as his techniques do.
  • Instinct versus loyalty: Samehada’s survival instinct overrides its bond with Fuguki, showing that even a weapon considered obedient will abandon its master when confronted with overwhelming danger.

Character Interactions

  • Qingchuan taunts Jinpachi before killing him, turning Jinpachi’s fascination with explosions against him.
  • Qingchuan confronts the remaining swordsmen, daring them to attack and treating their fear with open contempt.
  • Fuguki attempts to rally the swordsmen and attacks Qingchuan with Samehada, but the weapon rejects him and wounds him in its panic.
  • Qingchuan mocks Fuguki by implying that Samehada possesses better judgment than its owner.
  • The chapter ends with Kushimaru exploiting the chaos caused by Samehada’s betrayal and attacking Qingchuan from behind, creating a cliffhanger.

Ch. 306Sage Art: Scorched Earth, the Day a Legend Collapsed

Chapter Summary: Sage Art: Scorched Earth, the Day a Legend Collapsed

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Kushimaru Kuriarare attempts to assassinate Qingchuan from behind while the latter is distracted by Samehada and supposedly between transformations.
  • Qingchuan effortlessly catches Nuibari’s blade with his bare hand, using glowing Blut Vene patterns to reinforce his palm. He mocks Kushimaru’s lack of understanding of true hardness.
  • Through Spirit Particle energy, Qingchuan pulls Kushimaru toward him and cuts both the Nuibari and its wielder cleanly in half with his Soul-Cutter. Kushimaru becomes the third of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen to fall.
  • Horrified and enraged, the remaining swordsmen—Biwa Jūzō, the Hiramekarei wielder, and Suikazan Fuguki—abandon strategy and launch a desperate combined assault.
  • Fuguki, having lost Samehada, grabs the fallen Kabutowari but struggles to use it effectively. Despite this, all four surviving fighters combine Water Release, Lightning Release, chakra-enhanced blades, and blunt-force attacks.
  • Qingchuan avoids the attack with Hirenkyaku, shooting vertically into the sky and leaving the assault to devastate the beach instead.
  • Floating above the battlefield, he gathers vast quantities of Spirit Particles and creates a massive red Spirit Bow. He also compresses fire-nature chakra into a flaming arrow covered in Explosive Tag runes.
  • Thousands of crimson Spirit Particle arrows materialize behind him, forming an overwhelming aerial barrage aimed at the remaining Ninja Swordsmen.
  • The chapter ends as Fuguki realizes they must flee, only to understand that escape is impossible. Qingchuan begins his Sage Art: Fire Release: Light Rain Explosive Flame Arrow.

Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan is revealed to possess overwhelming defensive strength, superior speed, aerial mobility, and devastating long-range techniques. His confidence becomes openly contemptuous as he treats the legendary swordsmen as primitive brutes.
  • Kushimaru Kuriarare shifts from a confident assassin exploiting an opening to Qingchuan’s helpless victim, dying instantly despite using one of the Mist’s most feared weapons.
  • The remaining swordsmen lose their pride and composure after witnessing two comrades die within seconds. Their disciplined reputation collapses into panic and a suicidal attempt to overwhelm Qingchuan through numbers.
  • Suikazan Fuguki is especially weakened without Samehada. His desperation leads him to wield Kabutowari incompetently, emphasizing how dependent he was on his former weapon.
  • Biwa Jūzō and the Hiramekarei wielder display fear beneath their aggression, realizing that conventional attacks cannot compete with Qingchuan’s power.

Significant Themes

  • The collapse of legend: The Seven Ninja Swordsmen, once symbols of terror and elite combat ability, are reduced to desperate survivors facing one-sided slaughter.
  • Overwhelming power versus brute force: Qingchuan repeatedly dismisses the swordsmen’s strength and weapons as crude physical force compared with his mastery of Spirit Particles, Blut Vene, and advanced techniques.
  • Pride turning into panic: The swordsmen’s confidence evaporates after Kushimaru’s death, revealing how quickly arrogance collapses when confronted by an opponent far beyond their abilities.
  • Technological and spiritual superiority: Qingchuan’s hybrid abilities—combining chakra, Quincy-like Spirit Particles, and high-speed movement—make traditional ninja weaponry appear obsolete.
  • Inevitable destruction: The final image of thousands of explosive arrows suggests that the battle has moved beyond a contest and into total annihilation.

Character Interactions

  • Qingchuan directly taunts Kushimaru, mocking his attempted sneak attack and asserting his superior physical hardness.
  • Kushimaru’s attack on Qingchuan prompts an immediate counterattack, establishing the vast difference between them.
  • The surviving swordsmen react emotionally to Kushimaru’s death, shouting his name and urging one another to attack together.
  • Jūzō assumes the role of desperate leader, rallying the others by insisting that Qingchuan’s chakra must eventually run out.
  • Fuguki’s loss of Samehada isolates him from the others and forces him to rely on a weapon he cannot properly control.
  • Qingchuan’s final airborne display leaves the remaining swordsmen terrified and helpless, with Fuguki recognizing the hopelessness of their situation just before the barrage begins.

Ch. 307Heard You Love Holding Funerals for People?

Summary: "Heard You Love Holding Funerals for People?"

Key Plot Points

  • Hyuga Qingchuan fires a "beacon" guiding arrow, triggering a massive Explosive Flame Arrow Rain — a senjutsu-powered saturation bombardment over the battlefield.
  • The four gathered Ninja Swordsmen are caught in a ten-second bombardment that melts the beach into a giant glass-lined crater over 100 meters wide.
  • The wielder of Twin Blades: Hiramekarei is killed; his treasured swords are destroyed.
  • Fuguki Suikazan barely survives, shielded by his thick fat and two corpse shields, but is horribly burned and near death.
  • Biwa Juzo is revealed to have escaped via Water Clone during the chaos, fleeing into the sea — abandoning his comrades.
  • Qingchuan lands and confronts the survivors: Raiga, Fuguki, and Tongcao Yebait.
  • Raiga collapses into cowardice — begging for his life, offering treasure, secret jutsu scrolls, and servitude as a spy.
  • Fuguki defies Qingchuan — cursing Raiga's disgrace, crawling toward Samehada for a final stand.
  • Qingchuan asks Raiga about his infamous hobby of "holding funerals" for his victims, then manifests a spirit blade, declaring a "Happy Funeral" for Raiga.

Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan: Displays absolute, overwhelming power with senjutsu-based archery; cold, ironic, and theatrical in dealing with enemies; in full control throughout — not even bothering to chase the fleeing Biwa Juzo.
  • Raiga: Revealed as deeply self-serving — his brutal reputation collapses into hysterical groveling under mortal terror.
  • Fuguki Suikazan: Embodies the old pride of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen — defiant to the end, preferring death with honor over petty survival.
  • Biwa Juzo: Shows cunning through the Water Clone deception, prioritizing self-preservation over group loyalty.

Significant Themes

  • Pride vs. Survival: Fuguki's honorable defiance contrasts sharply with Raiga's shameless surrender.
  • Absolute Power's Impact: Qingchuan demonstrates that overwhelming force breaks wills before it breaks bodies.
  • Ironic Justice: Qingchuan uses Raiga's own macabre "funeral" ritual against him as poetic punishment.
  • Mist Village Decadence: The swordsmen's collective weakness — cowardice, disunity, and self-interest — symbolizes their village's decline.

Character Interactions

  • Raiga vs. Fuguki: Raiga screams at Fuguki to stop dragging him down; Fuguki spits curses at Raiga for disgracing Mist Village — a clash between selfish survival and dying honor.
  • Qingchuan vs. Raiga: Qingchuan remains eerily calm and amused while Raiga grovels; his gentle smile and soft voice carry hidden menace.
  • Qingchuan's stillness: He does not pursue Juzo, implying the escaped swordsman isn't worth his attention — elevating Qingchuan's confidence above all other fighters present.

Ch. 308Funeral

Chapter Summary: “Funeral”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Qingchuan executes Raiga Kurosuki with a Spirit Particle dagger, severing his throat and spine before flooding his body with Lightning Release. Raiga is internally carbonized and reduced to ash in a brilliant explosion.
  • He kills Suikazan Fuguki by crushing his already-damaged chest and heart beneath his foot, showing no interest in allowing final words or mercy.
  • Jinin Akebino, unconscious after being struck by Might Guy’s Sixth Gate technique, is beheaded while helpless.
  • Biwa Juzo escapes by leaping into the sea, making the battle’s outcome six of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen dead and one escaped.
  • Qingchuan retrieves the fallen swords—Fang, Kabutowari, Nuibari, and the remains of Shibuki—and seals them in a scroll.
  • Samehada, normally a feared and predatory weapon, recognizes Qingchuan as the stronger predator and submits to him. Qingchuan claims it as his new weapon.
  • The larger battle also ends in total Mist Village defeat. Of the roughly two thousand Mist shinobi, many have been killed by Qingchuan’s Shadow Clones, Might Guy, and their allies, while the survivors stand paralyzed by fear.
  • Qingchuan turns toward the remaining Mist forces and announces that they are his next targets, implying the slaughter will continue.

Character Developments

  • Qingchuan is portrayed as utterly ruthless, calm, and overwhelmingly powerful. He kills efficiently without allowing speeches, pleas, or dramatic last words, treating the executions almost casually.
  • His mastery of Spirit Particle techniques is emphasized through precise killing methods, internal Lightning Release explosions, Spirit Particle threads, sealing techniques, and enhanced physical strength through Blut Vene.
  • Qingchuan’s dominance extends beyond human enemies: Samehada instinctively submits to him, suggesting that even legendary weapons recognize his superior strength and spiritual pressure.
  • Raiga, Fuguki, and Jinin are reduced from feared members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen to helpless victims, highlighting the gap between their reputations and Qingchuan’s power.
  • Biwa Juzo is the only swordsman to survive, escaping before Qingchuan can kill him.
  • Samehada is characterized as intelligent and survival-oriented rather than purely loyal. It abandons its former allegiance and cooperates with Qingchuan to preserve itself.
  • The surviving Mist shinobi lose their confidence and will to fight, psychologically defeated before Qingchuan even attacks them directly.

Significant Themes

  • Overwhelming power and domination: The chapter emphasizes Qingchuan’s complete superiority over elite warriors and an entire military force.
  • Fear as a weapon: The brutal executions and Qingchuan’s calm demeanor destroy the enemy’s morale as effectively as physical attacks.
  • Death without ceremony: Despite the chapter’s title, the deaths receive no traditional honor or mourning. Qingchuan deliberately eliminates last words and sentiment, turning the battlefield into a cold, efficient “funeral.”
  • Predator and prey: Samehada’s submission and the terrified reactions of the Mist shinobi reinforce the idea that strength determines authority and survival.
  • Merciless efficiency: Qingchuan frames quick deaths as mercy, but his detached attitude makes clear that compassion is secondary to practicality and control.
  • The collapse of reputation: The legendary Seven Ninja Swordsmen and the supposedly formidable Mist army are exposed as powerless against Qingchuan and his allies.

Character Interactions

  • Qingchuan interacts with each defeated swordsman as an executioner, refusing Raiga and Fuguki any chance to speak.
  • He addresses Raiga mockingly, turning the swordsman’s lightning-based identity into the manner of his death.
  • His interaction with Samehada is almost like training or taming an animal: he commands it, evaluates its obedience, and accepts its submission.
  • Samehada attempts to bond with Qingchuan by absorbing his energy but recoils when confronted with his Blut Vene-enhanced aura.
  • Qingchuan’s final interaction is with the remaining Mist troops. Rather than treating them as opponents worthy of negotiation, he announces that they are simply the next group to be killed.

Ch. 309Parting the Sea

1. Key Plot Points & Events

  • Hyuga Qingchuan has already dismantled the Seven Ninja Swordsmen and seals Samehada into a scroll, treating the slaughter like routine yard work.
  • Over 1,000 Mist Village ninjas on the beach are paralyzed with fear. Their commander orders a chaotic retreat into the sea.
  • The Mist ninjas try to escape using Hidden Mist Technique and Water Clones; Qingchuan orders a squad of Hyuga Branch House members—the "Sternritter Squad"—to hunt them down using Byakugan.
  • Qingchuan disperses the entire fog with a hand-seal-less Wind Release: Great Breakthrough, exposing the fleeing ninjas.
  • A 300-man Mist rearguard combines chakra to create a 40-meter tsunami via Water Release: Great Exploding Water Shockwave.
  • Qingchuan splits the tsunami in half with a water-blade technique, Water Release: Great Water Formation Wall, literally parting the sea as he walks through it.
  • The surviving Mist main force escapes into deep water, thinks they are safe—only to see Qingchuan sprinting across the ocean surface toward them.

2. Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan: Displayed as utterly calm, ruthless, and godlike. He uses Quincy powers fused with Byakugan, needs no hand seals, and shows no hesitation or exertion. His presence inspires both fanatical worship and existential terror.
  • Mist Village Ninjas: Reduced from an organized army to panicked, fleeing prey. Their commander abandons honor and formation, showing total psychological collapse.
  • Might Guy: Though powerful himself, he is rendered speechless and helpless by the tsunami, underscoring Qingchuan’s superiority.
  • Sternritter Squad (Hyuga Branch): Fanatically loyal to Qingchuan, viewing him as an object of absolute worship. They obey his kill-order without question.

3. Significant Themes

  • One-man army vs. massed force: The story emphasizes overwhelming individual power over sheer numbers.
  • Futility of escape: The ocean, normally a Mist ninja’s greatest advantage, becomes another killing field—no retreat is safe.
  • Godlike transcendence: Parting the sea is a biblical-scale feat, positioning Qingchuan beyond ordinary ninja capabilities.
  • Fear and worship: Qingchuan inspires either terror or devotion; there is no middle ground.

4. Character Interactions

  • Qingchuan commands the Sternritter Squad: “Leave none alive who flee with their backs to you.” They respond with synchronized fanaticism.
  • Might Guy and the Konoha pursuers watch in stunned awe as Qingchuan walks through the split tsunami, soaked and speechless.
  • The Mist commander first shrieks retreat, then briefly celebrates survival—only to have his relief shattered by the sight of Qingchuan chasing them across the sea.
  • The 300 Mist ninjas acting as rearguard silently choose sacrifice, but their suicide attack fails completely.

Ch. 310How Could He Run in the Sky?

I've read the chapter excerpt. What would you like me to do with it? For example:

  1. Continue the story – write what happens next (the quincy technique, the battle's outcome, Guy catching up, etc.)
  2. Translate it into another language
  3. Summarize it
  4. Give feedback on the writing
  5. Something else
Let me know how I can help!

Ch. 311The Battle Situation

Chapter Summary: The Battle Situation

1. Key Plot Points & Events

  • Hyuga Qingchuan, narrowly evading a Water Shockwave, deploys a new, compact version of his "God-Slaying Spirit Light Cannon." Unlike the massive previous version, this one is a hand-sized, hyper-compressed black sphere that functions as a "mobile artillery platform."
  • Qingchuan fires a thin but ultra-dense beam at the three hundred Mist Village shinobi holding the rear. It instantly vaporizes their Water Formation Walls and then the shinobi themselves, leaving no trace of blood or remains.
  • The beam strikes the sea, boiling and vaporizing the water within a 500-meter radius, creating a massive mushroom cloud of scalding steam that kills the surviving shinobi near the blast.
  • Might Guy arrives and witnesses the aftermath: a gigantic two-kilometer-long trench in the ocean where the water has been obliterated. The entire three-hundred-man rear guard is gone.
  • Of Mist Village's original 2,000-man army and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, only ~200 survivors and a dishevelled Biwa Juzo escape.
  • Qingchuan spends days regrouping scattered Konoha forces, rebuilds the defensive line, leaves behind his 200+ shinobi, and returns to Konoha with the Sternritter and Might Guy.
  • Meanwhile, northwest of Konoha, Hidden Rock reveals its hidden strength and overwhelms Konoha, with Minato stretched thin. Sarutobi Hiruzen manipulates Cloud Village (new Raikage: A) into attacking Hidden Rock's rear, using the Third Raikage's death and the release of Yugito Nii as leverage. Cloud Village agrees, forcing Onoki to withdraw.
  • Back in Konoha, Qingchuan reflects on the chaotic, pointless nature of the war—"crabs in a basin"—then checks his battle rewards (receiving "Favor" for winning against overwhelming odds).

2. Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan: Demonstrates refined, terrifying mastery of his Senjutsu. Remains cold and emotionless in battle, but shows strategic responsibility by rebuilding Konoha's defenses and leaving troops behind. His Byakugan is described as utterly without emotion.
  • Might Guy: Shocked and speechless by the sheer scale of devastation Qingchuan caused.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen: Displays cunning diplomatic manipulation, turning Cloud Village into an ally via clever provocation and negotiation.

3. Significant Themes

  • Overwhelming Power: One individual's ability to obliterate hundreds of elite shinobi instantly highlights the horrifying gap in strength.
  • The Absurdity of War: The Third Shinobi World War is depicted as a muddled, backstabbing free-for-all with no clear objectives—a waste of life and resources.
  • Political Manipulation: Hiruzen's clever maneuvering of enemy forces shows that wars are won off the battlefield as much as on it.

4. Character Interactions

  • Qingchuan vs. Mist Village shinobi: One-sided slaughter; their defensive jutsu are useless against his beam.
  • Might Guy reacts with disbelief to the destruction, serving as the audience's stand-in.
  • Hiruzen negotiates with Cloud Village, leveraging grievances and hostages to forge a temporary alliance against Hidden Rock.
  • Qingchuan subtly critiques the strategies of the other Kage, showing his detached, analytical view of the war.

Ch. 312The Capitalist's First Big Order

Summary: The Capitalist's First Big Order

1. Key Plot Points & Events

  • Hyuga Qingchuan returns to his village and hands over the mission report and the sealed six ninja swords to Orochimaru.
  • At home, he reviews his system rewards from the recent battle.
    • Rewards include techniques from Fuguki Suikazan and Raiga: Needle-Head Senbon, Hair Needle Senbon, Lightning Release: Raiga, Lightning Strike, Thunder Dragon Tornado, and Lightning Armor.
    • A large batch of Water Release techniques: Water Formation Pillar, Water Prison, Water Iron Cannon, Water Dragon Bullet, Explosive Water Shockwave, Great Waterfall Technique, plus Mist Village’s Silent Killing Technique and Mist Body Flicker.
    • He earns 43,000 Energy Crystals personally from the battle.
    • His Sternritter subordinates’ kills also grant him over 30,000 Energy Crystals.
    • Total for the trip: 77,600 Energy Crystals.
  • He checks his status and sees he now has 80,000 Energy Crystals stored.
  • He begins raising his Quincy fusion rate.
    • After going from 10% to 11%, he notices no immediate power gain and realizes the upgrade system now works differently: he can choose to “end the current fusion rate increase” and undergo a bodily enhancement phase all at once.
    • Recognizing this process will make him unconscious, he decides to only do it in a safe location.
  • He creates Shadow Clones to guard him, then raises his fusion rate to 40%, spending 60,000 Energy Crystals.
    • He keeps 20,000 Energy Crystals in reserve for future recruitment.
  • He confirms the upgrade, and his consciousness fades as his body begins being enhanced.

2. Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan shows his “capitalist” mindset: he profits from his subordinates’ kills and views them as long-term investments.
  • He becomes more cautious and strategic, learning not to upgrade while in potentially dangerous locations.
  • His growth is accelerating, accumulating many offensive, defensive, elemental, and stealth techniques.

3. Significant Themes

  • Exploitation and growth through others: His Sternritter members’ combat victories feed his own power, reinforcing the “capitalist” title.
  • Resource management: He carefully budgets Energy Crystals, balancing upgrades with recruitment needs.
  • Caution and preparation: He takes precautions before entering a vulnerable state, showing maturity and foresight.

4. Character Interactions

  • Brief interaction with Orochimaru: Qingchuan simply delivers the mission report and sealed swords, then leaves.
  • Shadow Clone banter: One energetic clone jokes about playing mahjong, while a serious clone scolds it. Qingchuan orders them to guard him seriously before beginning the upgrade.
  • His relationship with his Sternritter subordinates is indirectly highlighted through their kill rewards, showing mutual benefit: they gain abilities from him, and he gains Energy Crystals from their actions.

Ch. 314Refusal to Answer the Summons

Summary

1. Key Plot Points and Events

  • A sensational battle report claims that Hyuga Qingchuan led over 200 Konoha ninja against the Mist Village’s main army and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen.
  • The report states that Qingchuan’s forces killed six of the Seven Swordsmen, including Munashi Jinpachi and Kushimaru Kuriarare, fatally wounded Suikazan Fuguki, and devastated a 2,000-man Mist army by using a technique that supposedly “boiled the sea.”
  • Konoha’s casualties are listed as only seventeen, with roughly 200 Mist ninja escaping.
  • Danzo and Utatane Koharu dismiss the report as obvious exaggeration and accuse Qingchuan of falsifying military achievements. They argue that such claims would damage Konoha’s credibility.
  • Hiruzen is initially skeptical but recalls witnessing Qingchuan create an enormous crater and expose underground magma, making the impossible-sounding report seem potentially credible.
  • Hiruzen orders Qingchuan to appear so the matter can be verified directly.
  • An ANBU reports that Qingchuan has refused the summons, claiming to be ill. The ANBU also reveals that three Shadow Clones are guarding the entrance to Qingchuan’s residence.
  • Danzo interprets the refusal as open defiance and contempt for Konoha’s leadership. Furious, he decides to confront Qingchuan personally, intending to force him into compliance or possibly bring him under Root’s control.
  • Hiruzen realizes the confrontation could escalate into a destructive clash within Konoha and rushes after Danzo.
  • Danzo arrives at the Hyuga compound and threatens Qingchuan, but the three identical clones remain completely unmoved. One calmly states that the original is unavailable and reminds Danzo that he is standing on private property.

2. Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan: Becomes established as an extraordinarily powerful but highly unconventional young ninja. His refusal to answer the Hokage and use of clones to block Danzo demonstrate confidence, independence, and disregard for traditional authority.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen: Shows a cautious and pragmatic side. Although he recognizes Qingchuan’s disruptive personality, he also acknowledges the possibility that the unbelievable battle report is accurate because of Qingchuan’s overwhelming power. He attempts to prevent conflict rather than immediately punish him.
  • Shimura Danzo: His distrust and hostility toward Qingchuan intensify. He views Qingchuan’s refusal as insubordination and a threat to Konoha’s hierarchy, using the incident as justification to assert control.
  • Utatane Koharu: Acts as a strict defender of official procedures and military credibility, condemning the battle report as fabricated.
  • The ANBU messenger: Appears frightened and intimidated, reflecting the pressure created by the confrontation between Qingchuan and Konoha’s leadership.

3. Significant Themes

  • Power versus authority: Qingchuan’s immense strength allows him to challenge conventional chains of command, while Danzo insists that even powerful individuals must obey the Hokage.
  • Truth and credibility: The report sounds absurd, but Qingchuan’s demonstrated abilities make it difficult for the elders to dismiss. The chapter explores how extraordinary power can blur the line between fact and exaggeration.
  • Political control and institutional fear: Danzo sees an independent, overwhelmingly strong ninja as dangerous because he cannot easily be controlled by Root or village leadership.
  • Generational and ideological conflict: Qingchuan’s casual defiance contrasts with the elders’ rigid belief in hierarchy, discipline, and obedience.
  • Potential internal destruction: Hiruzen fears that Konoha could be damaged more by conflict among its own powerful ninja than by an external enemy.

4. Character Interactions

  • Danzo and Koharu jointly challenge Hiruzen over the credibility of Qingchuan’s report, portraying him as an indulged and reckless newcomer.
  • Hiruzen defends neither the report nor Qingchuan outright, instead choosing to summon him for verification.
  • Danzo reacts violently when Qingchuan refuses to appear, interpreting the act as a direct insult to the Hokage and the village.
  • Hiruzen tries to restrain Danzo and prevent a confrontation, understanding both Danzo’s authoritarian nature and Qingchuan’s unwillingness to submit.
  • At Qingchuan’s residence, Danzo attempts to intimidate him through threats and overwhelming presence, but Qingchuan’s Shadow Clones answer with calm, almost mocking politeness, emphasizing that Danzo has entered private property.

Ch. 315I'll Teach You a Lesson Today!

Shimura Danzo slowly climbed out from the rubble, his body covered in dust, his robes torn. The cane had long since been abandoned somewhere in the chaos. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth, and his right arm—the one wrapped in bandages—hung limp at his side, trembling slightly.
Deep inside, something snapped.
"You... you really are courting death!"
A terrifying aura erupted from his body. The next second, Danzo bit his thumb, smeared blood across his palm, and slammed his hand onto the ground.
"Summoning Jutsu!"

Puff!

A massive cloud of smoke exploded outward. When it cleared, a gigantic one-horned rhinoceros stood in the courtyard, its enormous body nearly half the size of the compound. It let out a thunderous roar that shook the foundations of the buildings.
Danzo leaped onto its back, cold killing intent radiating from his eyes as he glared down at the three clones below. The rhino pawed the ground with its huge hooves, sending cracks spreading across the stone pavement.
"Old man," the clone tilted his head monotonously with an almost scripted gesture of exaggerated sarcasm—"Are you the kind of person who feels safe only after trampling others?"
"You talk too much," Danzo growled, raising his hand.
But just as he was about to give the command to charge—

Puff! Puff! Puff! Puff! Puff!

A series of figures landed silently on the surrounding rooftops. Ten Root shinobi in animal masks, each radiating killing intent, had surrounded the entire compound. One of them stepped forward and called out, "Danzo-sama, we're here to support you!"
Danzo's expression flickered. For him, needing a squad of Root to take down a single fledgling was already humiliating enough. But before he could issue a retreat order, the clone in the center suddenly laughed.
"Even calling in the reinforcements, hmm?"
The clone slowly unclasped the Hyuga Clan's high-collared jacket, tossing it aside to reveal a black inner shirt. His white eyes remained calm, almost lazily indifferent, as he scanned the Root shinobi around him.
"All of you. Are you sure you want to remember this scene?"
The words were spoken lightly, but carried a bone-deep chill. A ninja's memory could be altered, but the fear embedded in their muscles was far harder to erase.
The Root shinobi's movements halted.
They exchanged glances. As elites who had faced countless battlefields, they could sense something deeply wrong about this brat. There was no panic in his eyes, no hint of readiness for a desperate final fight. Only... an unconditional confidence.
As if the entire Root organization were nothing but a swarm of ants in front of him.
The silence dragged on.
It was Danzo who finally spoke, gritting his teeth, "Why aren't you moving?! Take him down!"
"Danzo-sama..."
A Root shinobi hesitated, then said in a low voice, "Didn't you notice? There's been a fluctuation of chakra near the Hokage's office just now. The Third Hokage's subordinates are already aware of what's happening here."
The third-generation Hokage.
The words hit Danzo like a basin of ice water.
He snapped back to his senses. This was the heart of Konoha, not the battlefield outside. If Sarutobi Hiruzen arrived and caught this scene—him, Danzo, leading Root to surround and attack a clan heir within the village itself—even their decades-old friendship would not be enough to smooth things over. At minimum, he would be forced to step down from his position.
No. He couldn't afford to lose that.
Danzo gritted his teeth, a vein pulsing in his forehead. The killing intent in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by a dark, suppressed venom.
"Hyuga Qingchuan." He forced each word out through clenched teeth, his voice low and hoarse. "You are very good. Very good indeed. I, Danzo, shall remember you today."
"Appreciate the favor." The clone smiled faintly, palms raised in a traditional greeting. "I hope next time, the old man remembers to bring more adults with him."
The words were courteous, the meaning as sharp as a knife.
Danzo's face turned purple with anger. He pulled back his remaining strength and waved a hand at the Root shinobi.
In moments, the masked squad vanished into the shadows, and Danzo, with the Summoning Jutsu released, retreated into the darkness after shooting one final, grudge-filled glare at the compound.
Silence returned to the courtyard.
The third clone—who had been silently guarding the rear this whole time—walked up beside the first. "The wind-up's done."
"Yeah. Let's go back and tell the original."
There was a double puff and the two superfluous clones dispersed into white smoke, leaving no trace.
What remained was only the desolate garden, shattered stone tablets, huge claw marks gouged into the ground, and half a collapsed wall—evidence of the battle that had just taken place.
One floor below the main house.
The real Qingchuan sat in a dimly lit room, his eyes closed as if in meditation. On the desk beside him, a cold cup of tea had long since lost its heat.
After a long moment, he slowly opened his pale white eyes.
A corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
"Shimura Danzo... ho." He picked up the cold tea cup and swirled it lightly. "Your right arm is still wrapped in that bandage. I wonder when you'll finally let this village see what's hidden inside."
He downed the dregs of tea in one gulp and set the cup down.
The night was just beginning.

Ch. 316Hiruzen, This Kid Doesn't Respect You at All

Summary

Key Plot Points / Events

  • Danzo arrives at Hyuga Qingchuan’s residence and is brutally overpowered by three Shadow Clones; he is slammed into a wall, breaking his arm (Hashirama cells begin healing it).
  • Hiruzen intervenes, using Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique to separate the combatants.
  • Hiruzen is shocked to discover that the clones are unharmed while Danzo, a shadow-level shinobi, was losing badly. The battle report about “Boiling the Sea” is apparently literal, not exaggeration.
  • Danzo, humiliated, tries to claim he was only “testing” the junior and says Qingchuan is fit for the Hidden Rock front lines. He then retreats via Body Flicker, leaving his cane behind.
  • Hiruzen questions the clones about Qingchuan’s true condition.
  • The clones claim the original is not sick but “evolving”: an ancestral bloodline awakening / second growth spurt, similar to Sharingan evolution. They say Qingchuan locked himself away to stabilize his unstable, dangerous bloodline for the village’s safety.

Character Developments

  • Danzo: Shown as aggressive but overconfident; suffers a humiliating defeat, forcing him into a face-saving retreat rather than escalation.
  • Hiruzen: Assertive when ordering Danzo to stand down, but internally re-evaluates Qingchuan’s strength; wary and intrigued by the power behind the closed door.
  • Qingchuan’s Shadow Clones: Display flawless coordination, casual arrogance, and a talent for spinning dubious explanations; they serve as cheeky stand-ins for the offscreen original.

Significant Themes

  • Respect vs. raw power: Danzo demands respect but is physically overpowered, undermining his authority.
  • Political face-saving: Danzo reframes a beating as a “test” to preserve his reputation.
  • Bloodline evolution: Clones compare Qingchuan’s transformation to Uchiha Sharingan stages, hinting at a new power tier.

Character Interactions

  • Danzo and the clones: outright combat, ending with Danzo beaten and furious.
  • Danzo and Hiruzen: tense; Danzo expects support but is publicly overruled by the Hokage.
  • Hiruzen and the clones: guarded but revealing dialogue, with the clones feeding a semi-believable story about Qingchuan’s transformation.

Ch. 317Lord Danzo, Have You Shown Any Respect for the Hokage?

Chapter Summary: “Lord Danzo, Have You Shown Any Respect for the Hokage?”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Hiruzen considers the possibility that Hyuga Qingchuan’s unusual blue-light techniques represent a mutation or advanced awakening of the Hyuga clan’s Byakugan. He recognizes Qingchuan as an extraordinary asset to Konoha but worries that such immense power may become difficult to control.
  • To protect and monitor Qingchuan during his seclusion, Hiruzen proposes sending ANBU teams to guard the damaged courtyard and maintain a barrier around it.
  • Qingchuan’s three shadow clones firmly reject the offer. They explain that unfamiliar chakra near the main body could trigger a dangerous reaction and potentially cause the ANBU to be destroyed. Their refusal reveals Qingchuan’s deep distrust of even the Hokage.
  • Hiruzen accepts the decision but orders Qingchuan to report to the Hokage Building after emerging from seclusion so his recent battle achievements can be officially verified.
  • Danzo suddenly returns, revealing that his earlier retreat was only a deception. Humiliated by the shadow clones and suspicious of what is happening inside the sealed building, he decides to force his way in.
  • Hiruzen attempts to stop Danzo, but Danzo ignores him and attacks the door with a powerful Wind Release-enhanced strike.
  • A crimson defensive barrier unexpectedly manifests around the building. Danzo’s hand is instantly incinerated and decomposed upon contact, causing him severe pain.
  • Danzo considers releasing the forbidden power sealed within his arm, likely Wood Release connected to his stolen abilities, in order to destroy the barrier.
  • Hiruzen intervenes before Danzo can do so, using the Adamantine Staff to knock him away. This prevents Danzo from escalating the confrontation and unleashing dangerous power within Konoha.
  • The chapter ends with Hiruzen condemning Danzo for acting recklessly and violating the Hokage’s authority.

Character Developments

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi: Shows both admiration and apprehension toward Qingchuan’s potential. He tries to balance protecting Qingchuan with monitoring him, but ultimately respects his wishes. His attitude toward Danzo becomes openly severe when Danzo threatens to create a disaster inside the village.
  • Hyuga Qingchuan: Although he never appears directly, his influence dominates the chapter. His extraordinary power, unusual techniques, and distrust of authority are emphasized. His preparations also prove strong enough to defend his secluded state without conscious intervention.
  • Qingchuan’s Shadow Clones: Act as his representatives and demonstrate confidence, sarcasm, and absolute loyalty to the main body. Their refusal of ANBU protection shows that Qingchuan has established his own defensive system and does not depend on Konoha.
  • Danzo Shimura: Becomes increasingly reckless and obsessive. Humiliated by the clones, he abandons caution and directly challenges both Qingchuan’s defenses and Hiruzen’s authority. His willingness to use dangerous sealed powers highlights his extremism.

Significant Themes

  • Power and control: Qingchuan’s possible evolution represents a major opportunity for Konoha, but his growing strength also makes him a potential threat that cannot be easily controlled.
  • Distrust of authority: Qingchuan’s refusal to accept ANBU protection shows that he views even Hiruzen with suspicion, creating tension between individual power and village authority.
  • Political conflict within Konoha: Hiruzen attempts to preserve order and restraint, while Danzo embodies coercion, secrecy, and forceful intervention.
  • Consequences of humiliation: Danzo’s wounded pride drives him to make irrational decisions, turning a political dispute into a direct physical confrontation.
  • Hidden strength and preparedness: Qingchuan’s barrier activates automatically and overwhelms Danzo, demonstrating that his secluded cultivation has produced defenses far beyond what others expect.

Character Interactions

  • Hiruzen and Qingchuan’s clones: Hiruzen offers protection, but the clones politely yet bluntly refuse, exposing the distance between Qingchuan and the Hokage.
  • Hiruzen and Danzo: Hiruzen initially tries to stop Danzo without violence, but intervenes decisively once Danzo threatens to use dangerous abilities. Their conflict reflects the larger divide between Hiruzen’s restraint and Danzo’s ruthless methods.
  • Danzo and the clones: The clones’ sarcastic dismissal of Danzo’s abilities intensifies his humiliation and motivates his reckless return.
  • Danzo and Qingchuan: Although Qingchuan remains in seclusion, Danzo directly attacks his defenses and is severely punished by the crimson barrier.
  • Hiruzen versus Danzo’s recklessness: By knocking Danzo away before he can release his sealed power, Hiruzen prevents the situation from becoming an uncontrollable crisis within Konoha.

Ch. 318He Really Didn't Hold Back

Summary

1. Key Plot Points & Events

  • Danzo, disregarding Hokage orders, breaks into Hyuga Qingchuan’s civilian home and attacks.
  • A crimson barrier (a variant of the Four Crimson Yang Formation) activates automatically, severely burning/melting Danzo’s left hand and severing it.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi arrives, furious, and accuses Danzo of rebellion.
  • Danzo is forced to retreat, humiliated and nursing a grudge.
  • The Shadow Clones reveal that the barrier is only one part of a much larger, autonomous defensive formation covering the entire house — including roof, foundation, and even the toilet.
  • The original Hyuga Qingchuan is said to be offstage, at a critical point in his “evolution.”

2. Character Developments

  • Danzo: Loses his left hand; his plans to capture/control Qingchuan fail. He suppresses his rage but swears vengeance, becoming more bitter and resentful.
  • Hiruzen: Shocked by the scale and sophistication of Qingchuan’s barrier; realizes Qingchuan’s power exceeds normal ninja understanding. He is forced to confront Danzo’s insubordination.
  • Hyuga Qingchuan’s Shadow Clones: Confident, mocking, and strategic. They calmly exploit Danzo’s aggression to humiliate him while protecting their original.

3. Significant Themes

  • Power vs. Authority: Danzo’s rogue actions are checked not by political power but by overwhelming defensive strength.
  • Restraint and Consequences: The barrier only harms those with hostile intent — a warning that aggression invites self-destruction.
  • Fear of the Uncontrolled: Danzo views Qingchuan’s uncontrollable power as an existential threat to Root and Konoha, driving his obsession.

4. Character Interactions

  • Danzo vs. Shadow Clones: He tries to dominate them verbally and physically; they counter with logical taunts, cripple his hand, and mirror his own language back at him.
  • Hiruzen vs. Danzo: Hiruzen publicly rebukes Danzo and forces him to back down; Danzo leaves with a dark look but no direct defiance.
  • Hiruzen vs. Shadow Clones: They explain the barrier’s scope, leaving Hiruzen both relieved and deeply unsettled by how little he truly knows about Qingchuan.

Ch. 319Fusion Complete

Fusion Complete

Hyuga Qingchuan tapped the window again, a lazy smile on his face when the Hokage turned around.
Sarutobi Hiruzen sighed, opening the window with a creak. "The door exists for a reason, you know."
"Windows are more dramatic." Qingchuan stepped inside, his eyes briefly scanning the room before settling on the Hokage's weary face. "You look like death warmed over, Lord Hokage."
"Three hours of sleep, one international incident, and a missing arm to explain. Wouldn't you look radiant too?" Hiruzen sat back down, producing a pipe from his desk drawer and lighting it with practiced ease. "Do you know what time it is?"
"Roughly the time I got my beauty sleep interrupted by a walking corpse and two tag-alongs." Qingchuan took a seat across from the Hokage without being invited, crossing his legs. "Let's talk about compensation."
Hiruzen choked on his tobacco smoke.
"I'm sorry," he coughed, patting his chest. "Did you just say compensation? You boiled the sea, killed the entire Seven Ninja Swordsmen, then turned the night into a light show that half of Konoha witnessed. And you want compensation?"
"Danzo tried to kill me during my critical evolution window," Qingchuan said flatly. "That's an attack on a Konoha ninja by a Konoha operative. I'm keeping the arm as proof. The question is what the village is willing to pay to make this go away quietly."
Hiruzen stared at the young man before him for a long, uncomfortable moment.
He had known Hyuga Qingchuan was dangerous.
He was only now realizing how dangerous.
"You know Danzo acted without my approval," Hiruzen finally said, choosing his words carefully. "Root is technically disbanded, but he still runs his little operation. I've tolerated it for years because he handles the village's dirtiest laundry. But this—" He set his pipe down, his expression hardening. "This was too far."
"So you're saying you'll punish him?"
"I'm saying I'll accept your compensation demands if they're reasonable."
Qingchuan's smile didn't reach his eyes. "Reasonable is such a subjective word, Lord Hokage. How about we start with the Hyuga clan's budget for the next five years being doubled, funded by the Hokage's discretionary spending?"
"That's extortion."
"I prefer 'creative negotiation.'"
Hiruzen puffed on his pipe, considering. Truthfully, he needed Qingchuan on his side. The war with Iwa was straining Konoha's resources. Suna was rattling sabers along the borders. Kumo agents had been spotted near the Land of Fire's northern coast.
A young, extremely lethal weapon like Qingchuan wasn't just an asset.
He was the asset.
"Two years," Hiruzen countered. "Doubled budget for two years, paid from a special operations fund rather than discretionary. In exchange, you take on a new position."
"What position?"
"Special Jonin Commander, attached directly to the Hokage's office. You'll have authority to move between any squads as an independent operator, and more importantly—" Hiruzen leaned forward, "—you'll have legitimate grounds to refuse orders from anyone other than me."
Qingchuan processed that.
It was a good offer, actually.
One would think that being a Hyuga, he was used to the clan's chain of command. But his relationship with the elders had always been tense. They saw him as a valuable tool. The Hokage was offering him a way to be unquestionably independent.
"One more thing," Qingchuan added. "The moment Danzo shows signs of stepping out of line again, I get to kill him. With full legal immunity."
Hiruzen's fingers twitched over his pipe.
"That's..."
"Non-negotiable."
The Hokage studied Qingchuan for an entire minute before heaving a sigh. "You realize you're asking me to sign off on assassinating a former advisor to the Hokage."
"I'm asking you to acknowledge that if that man moves against me again, you won't stand in my way. There's a difference."
Hiruzen reached for a blank sheet of paper, uncapped his fountain pen, and wrote out a single line:
The bearer of this order is authorized to neutralize threats to Konoha's security by any means necessary, at their own discretion.
He stamped it with the Hokage's seal, then pushed it across the desk.
"Danzo has been a thorn in my side for forty years," Hiruzen admitted in a low voice. "I don't have the spine to put him down myself. But you might be the only person in this village who can."
"First sensible thing you've said all morning," Qingchuan said, tucking the paper into his robe.
Twenty minutes later.
The Hyuga compound.
Qingchuan had barely crossed the main gate before an old man's voice rang out from the largest building.
"Qingchuan! My office, now!"
Hiashi Hyuga's tone was sharp, but Qingchuan caught the undercurrent of anxiety running through it.
Was this about Danzo's attack?
He walked to the clan head's office, pushing aside the sliding door and stepping into the room.
Hiashi sat behind his desk, a teacup trembling in his hand.
Behind him stood two elders Hao Qian and Bao Dun, their expressions unreadable.
"Close the door."
Qingchuan complied.
Then, before Hiashi could speak, Qingchuan leaned against the wall and cut straight to the chase.
"Let me save you the trouble, clan head. Yes, I fought Danzo. Yes, I cut off his arm. Yes, I'm still alive, and yes, I turned the entire estate into a fortress without having my chakra signature detected." He tilted his head. "What parts of that news concern you most?"
"All of it," Hiashi ground out, his teacup rattling harder. "Do you have any idea—do you have any concept—of what you've done? Danzo Shimura is one of the most dangerous men in Konoha! He has network. He has resources. And you've turned him into an enemy!"
"He was already an enemy," Qingchuan said calmly. "I simply changed the status quo from 'occasional nuisance' to 'openly hostile.' And also, I'm much scarier than he is, so it's fine."
Elder Hao Qian coughed, covering a laugh.
But Elder Bao Dun was less amused.
"Arrogance will be your downfall, boy. You're strong, but Danzo has survived for decades by being impossible to kill. The moment you let your guard down, he'll..."
"He'll what?" Qingchuan cut in, his gaze turning cold. "Hit me with a Wind Style attack and hope my defensive blood armor doesn't turn him into a pincushion? I've survived stronger attacks than Danzo's pocket knife. Let him come."
"Qingchuan!" Hiashi slammed his hand on the desk. "I'm ordering you to—"
"You're ordering me to what?" Qingchuan's voice dropped, and for a split second, the temperature in the room seemed to plummet. "Hide? Apologize? Beg for mercy?"
Hiashi froze.
In that moment, he felt it clearly: an enormous pressure emanating from Qingchuan's body. It wasn't killing intent. It wasn't chakra suppression.
It was something darker.
A presence that made his instincts scream that his life might be in danger. And Hiashi Hyuga, clan head and strongest Hyuga alive, was afraid.
"Forgive me, clan head," Qingchuan said, his tone softening but losing none of its edge. "I've come to terms with a simple truth: if I want to protect myself and my assets from the people who see me as a tool, I can't rely on anyone else's protection. I'll handle Danzo myself."
He pulled the folded paper from his robe, holding it up briefly.
"Lord Hokage has given me a free hand. And as for the clan—" he met Hiashi's eyes meaningfully, "—well, I suppose it's up to him whether that freedom includes the Hyuga name."
The room fell into tense silence. Hiashi's teacup stopped rattling.
"...You have a deal with the Hokage?"
"He's giving me a position, and I'm giving him results. Simple as that. The question is: do you still want a Hyuga in that position? Or should I make it clear to him that I'm transferring to a new lineage entirely?"
Hiashi knew Qingchuan wasn't bluffing.
A man who could cut off Danzo's arm and blank the Hokage's authority was entirely capable of renouncing his clan membership.
And if Qingchuan left, everything he became would belong to someone else.
"...What kind of assurance are you asking for?"
Qingchuan smiled gently.
"Nothing much, clan head. Just this—in any conflict between the clan and my own judgment, my judgment wins. I'll still fight for the Hyuga if the Hyuga fights for me. But I'm not your attack dog anymore."
The room held its breath for another long moment.
To his credit, Hiashi was many things, but a fool was not one of them.
"...So be it."
The old man's shoulders slumped slightly, all fight leaving him. "I'll update the family records today. As of tomorrow, you'll be officially recognized as an independent operative under the Hokage's direct command."
"Thank you, clan head. I knew you'd understand."
Qingchuan bowed—shallow, perfunctory, but a bow nonetheless—then turned to leave.
"Before I go—" he paused at the door, "—should I expect retaliation from the Caged Bird side of the clan anytime soon?"
Hiashi's lips thinned. "The Council of Elders meets tonight. There will be... discussion."
"Tell them to send their complaints in writing," Qingchuan said over his shoulder, a hint of amusement in his voice. "I'll add them to my reading pile."

Ch. 320Where Is That Mist Village Army I Didn't Kill?

Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • In the Hokage’s office, Hiruzen Sarutobi reviews a controversial battle report claiming that Hyuga Qingchuan single-handedly defeated roughly two thousand Mist Village soldiers and killed six of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen.
  • Advisors Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu accuse the report of exaggeration, arguing that such a victory is impossible even for a powerful shinobi.
  • Qingchuan unexpectedly enters through the Hokage’s window without triggering the ANBU security or producing any detectable chakra signature. His infiltration shocks the three veterans.
  • His appearance and demeanor have changed dramatically after undergoing what Hiruzen identifies as a “Bloodline Reversion.” Qingchuan now seems calm, emotionless, and almost impossible to sense, in contrast to his former sharp and conspicuous presence.
  • Homura interrogates Qingchuan about the battle report, suggesting he fabricated his accomplishments for military credit.
  • Qingchuan responds that if his report is false, the missing two thousand Mist troops should still be attacking Konoha’s Eastern Front. Their absence proves that the army was defeated or forced to retreat.
  • When Homura suggests the Mist forces may have withdrawn for unrelated reasons, Qingchuan ridicules the explanation and points out that elite troops under orders to capture the defensive line would not simply abandon the attack.
  • Koharu shifts the argument away from the existence of the victory and challenges the distribution of credit, claiming it is unbelievable that Qingchuan killed five of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen while Might Guy, still a Genin, killed another.

Character Developments

  • Hyuga Qingchuan: Demonstrates overwhelming confidence, composure, and a complete lack of concern for political authority or formal etiquette. His ability to conceal his chakra and presence has apparently improved dramatically. He also shows sharp reasoning and refuses to be intimidated by the advisors’ accusations.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen: Notices Qingchuan’s transformation and quietly assesses the implications of his new aura. He remains protective of Qingchuan and attempts to moderate the confrontation.
  • Mitokado Homura: Acts suspiciously and aggressively, accusing Qingchuan of fraud. However, he is unable to answer Qingchuan’s logical challenge about the vanished Mist army and becomes embarrassed when his argument fails.
  • Utatane Koharu: More politically astute than Homura, she abandons the weaker claim that the battle did not occur and instead questions Qingchuan’s specific achievements and the credibility of the casualty report.
  • Might Guy: Though not present, he is revealed to have killed one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen despite being a Genin, marking him as an unexpectedly important figure in the battle.

Significant Themes

  • Proof versus disbelief: Qingchuan’s victory is so extraordinary that even its witnesses struggle to accept it, creating tension between factual evidence and conventional expectations.
  • Recognition and military credit: The chapter examines how achievements are recorded and who receives credit, especially when young or unconventional shinobi accomplish impossible feats.
  • Transformation and hidden power: Qingchuan’s altered presence suggests that his Bloodline Reversion has fundamentally changed his abilities and personality.
  • Political suspicion: The elders prioritize questioning and controlling Qingchuan rather than celebrating a victory that benefited Konoha.
  • Logic as a weapon: Qingchuan defeats the advisors’ accusations not through force, but by exposing the contradiction between their doubts and the undeniable disappearance of the Mist army.

Character Interactions

  • Hiruzen attempts to balance the hostile elders with Qingchuan, presenting the confrontation as an opportunity to meet the supposed “hero.”
  • Homura treats Qingchuan as a potential fraud and demands an explanation, while Qingchuan responds with calm sarcasm and turns the accusation back on him.
