Five gray shadows came hurtling in at extreme speed.
They were not physical entities, but highly condensed bodies of spiritual energy, their forms constantly twisting between smoke and light. The trails they left behind radiated cold, greedy waves of intent. The instant they appeared, they locked onto the Phantom Shadow Ship and pounced like hyenas scenting carrion.
No alarm sounded within the ship, yet everyone felt a needle-like chill pierce their minds.
"Anti-interference shields at maximum power! Stoneforce, prepare gravitational anchoring! Flame Calamity, await my command!" Neji's voice was cold and calm, instantly suppressing the discomfort invading their minds.
The Phantom Shadow Ship abruptly rolled to the side, and a layer of pale blue rippling shield light flared across its hull. Almost the instant the shield rose, the two leading gray shadows slammed into it!
There was no thunderous physical impact, only an ear-piercing sound of energy being torn apart. The shield rippled violently, its glow abruptly dimming as the ship shuddered. At the points of impact, two irregular dark patches were actually being corroded into the shield, rapidly spreading as though eaten away by invisible acid.
The Void Spirit Clan's attacks targeted the energy structure itself.
"Now! Flame Calamity, port side, full fire coverage!" Neji barked.
Flame Calamity, who had long been holding back a bellyful of fury, gave a savage grin and slammed both palms onto the firing authorization panel before him. Three concealed pulse cannon ports along the Phantom Shadow Ship's port side sprang open, blazing white light gathering in their muzzles.
"Burn them to ashes!"

Three thick, blazing-white pulse beams tore through the gray mist like roaring lava dragons, precisely engulfing the two gray shadows corroding the shield and the third one following close behind.
