Thirty standard hours.
In the current environment, that was an almost luxuriously long amount of time. The tremors within the remains echoed dully through the observation station's silver bulkheads. Though greatly weakened, they constantly reminded them that the danger outside was brewing.
"We can't wait." Flame Calamity was the first to speak. He swept his gaze irritably over the cramped cabin. "Who knows if this damned place will suddenly collapse? Or if those damned things will rush in?"
Stoneforce nodded silently, his massive body leaning against the bulkhead as he vigilantly sensed the direction from which the tremors came. Night Owl said in a low voice, "The energy rampage within the remains is intensifying, and the concentration of spiritual contamination is rising as well. The observation station's shielding is not absolute."
Xuan quickly checked the console data. "There's enough energy for a short-range random jump. But the destination can't be predicted. We could appear in any starfield, or even... a dangerous zone of chaotic void currents."
Everyone looked at Neji.
Neji's gaze fell upon the intermittent trail of light on the star map. The route left behind by the Poolkeeper Civilization was undoubtedly the safest option, and the one most likely to lead them to a known region. But thirty hours of waiting left too many variables.
"Activate the random jump," Neji decided. "Staying here is too risky. We'll leave the remains, enter a relatively normal starfield, and figure things out from there."
Xuan hesitated no longer, his fingers moving rapidly across the console. Ancient characters flowed over the crystal panel as a simplified star map emerged, marking the observation station's current coordinates and the preset jump-energy threshold.
"Energy injection confirmed... Random coordinates generating... Jump engine warming up..."
Within the energy well at the center of the console, the remaining
