Hearing a knock at the door, Kiba Inuzuka went to answer it, only to find Hinata Hyuga and her younger sister, Hanabi Hyuga, standing outside.
"Hinata?"
Kiba froze. He had not expected Hinata to come looking for him, much less bring her younger sister along.
"Kiba, is Brother Ye Fan home?" Hinata lowered her head, her voice soft.
"You came to see my brother?" Kiba asked in surprise.
"It's actually my younger sister!" Hinata said.
At that moment, Hanabi said from beside her, "Sorry to disturb you. I'd like to see Senior Ye Fan!"
Kiba invited the two of them inside.
For both Hinata and Hanabi, this was their first time here.
Hinata looked somewhat uneasy, her eyes not knowing where to rest. Hanabi, on the other hand, appeared perfectly natural, without the slightest sign of nervousness. Perhaps it had something to do with her father often taking her to visit friends from all walks of life.
"Brother Ye Fan, someone's here to see you!" Kiba shouted toward the room inside.
As Kiba's words fell, Ye Fan walked out of the room with a faint smile on his face.
"Aren't these Hinata and Hanabi? Did you come here specifically to see me?" Ye Fan asked the two girls sitting in the living room.
"Brother Ye Fan, my sister said she has something to ask you!" Hinata's face began to redden again. She did not dare look at Ye Fan, and her voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz.
"Oh?" Ye Fan turned his gaze toward Hanabi and asked, "Did you run into another problem with your training?"
"Senior Ye Fan, I heard from my sister that you no longer have Chakra in your body. Is that true?" Hanabi stared at Ye Fan with a serious expression.
"That's right. I don't have a single bit of Chakra left now. I can use neither ninjutsu nor Genjutsu." Ye Fan answered casually.
"I don't believe it! I clearly saw an enormous amount of energy inside you, Senior Ye Fan. That should have been Chakra." Hanabi wore a stubborn expression.
She could not accept that Senior Ye Fan, whom she had begun to admire, actually had no Chakra.
Ye Fan smiled and walked up to Hanabi. With a serious expression, he said, "Hanabi, this world is vast, and there are many things you don't know about. Chakra is merely one form of energy. There are many other types of energy you know nothing about, such as the Spirit Power between heaven and earth, the demonic power within demon beasts, the mental power of those with special abilities, the ghost power controlled by ghosts, the witch power used by shamans... You've never even heard of these, have you?"
Hanabi stared blankly at Ye Fan. She had never heard of such things, much less seen them.
"The energies I mentioned may not all exist, but I believe this world definitely has more than just 'Chakra.' Broaden your horizons. Don't limit yourself to the little inheritance of your clan. Only by constantly surpassing yourself and surpassing the past can you avoid being cast aside by the times!"
Ye Fan thought highly of Hanabi and did not want her to cling stubbornly to the Hyuga Clan's secret techniques and waste her considerable talent.
That Gentle Fist taijutsu, which other ninjas considered extremely formidable, was nothing more than the most basic martial arts technique in Ye Fan's eyes.
If they merely clung to such a low-level technique, the entire Hyuga Clan would sooner or later be cast aside by the times.
The rise and fall of a clan was like the rise and fall of a sect. Blindly adhering to old rules and rejecting the development of the times would only leave them like frogs at the bottom of a well, eventually swallowed by other sects.
Ye Fan had only understood this after the Beast-Taming Sect was annexed by other sects.
Only then did he realize that those so-called great sects developed in every aspect: formations, artifact refinement, pill refinement, sword arts, cultivation arts, spell techniques, talismans... They had it all. Their disciples each excelled in their own fields. How could such sects fail to grow stronger?
After the Beast-Taming Sect was annexed, Ye Fan traveled across the lands and studied all kinds of skills. He had even dabbled in the techniques of the demon race and the ghost path. Later generations called him the "Omnipotent Demon Lord." He had only hoped that one day he could rebuild the Beast-Taming Sect. Unfortunately, he ultimately died beneath the combined assault of the righteous sects, which was how he came to this world.
Hanabi looked as though she understood, yet did not fully understand. She stared blankly at Ye Fan. At that moment, Ye Fan seemed even more knowledgeable than her well-read father.
"You're still young, so let's not discuss this topic anymore. I do have a question for you and your sister." As Ye Fan spoke, he turned to glance at Hinata beside him.
Hinata froze and turned to look at him. Her gaze happened to meet Ye Fan's, and she hurriedly looked away in panic.
"Senior Ye Fan, what do you want to ask?" Hanabi lifted her head and stared fearlessly at Ye Fan.
"Is your Byakugan ability common elsewhere too?" Ye Fan asked curiously.
"Our Byakugan is a Bloodline Limit. Only members of the Hyuga Clan possess the ability of the Byakugan!" Hanabi said proudly.
Ye Fan fell silent for a moment, then asked again, "What exactly is this Bloodline Limit?"
There were too many things he wanted to understand. Unfortunately, the Ninja Academy's library had limited books, and he was not qualified to enter the library reserved for ninjas. Many things could only be learned through his own inquiries and deductions.
"A Bloodline Limit is a technique that, under normal circumstances, can only be inherited through blood relations and genes. Usually, aside from those of the same bloodline, no one else can learn it." Hanabi gave a simple explanation. She had heard these things from her father as well.
"So it's somewhat similar to the inherited abilities of demon beasts. If that's the case, then the Beast-Taming Sect's special methods for strengthening demon beasts should work on it too!" Ye Fan thought to himself, unable to help feeling anticipation.
Unfortunately, he was only at the First Layer of the Beast-Taming Stage and could not yet use his sensory abilities, unless he reached the Beast-Taming Stage, Second Layer.
"Does your Byakugan also have different stages? Does it evolve as your strength increases? For example, would different stages allow different abilities and levels of power?" Ye Fan asked again, once more drawing a connection to the abilities of demon beasts.
This question stumped Hanabi. She hurriedly cast an inquiring look toward her sister.
At that moment, Hinata also looked bewildered. Since awakening her Byakugan, she had never heard that it could undergo a second evolution.
"All right, perhaps this question involves your clan's secrets. You don't have to answer."
Seeing that the two girls had not answered for quite some time, Ye Fan did not press them further. There would be plenty of opportunities and time in the future. Rather than being told by others, he trusted conclusions gained through his own research more.
