On the way home, Ye Fan glanced at Kiba Inuzuka walking beside him.
"How are you feeling now?" There was a hint of concern in Ye Fan's voice.
"Much better." As Kiba spoke, he stared at Ye Fan with eager eyes. "Brother Ye Fan, do you have any more of that 'recovery potion'?"
Ye Fan's steps paused slightly. He guessed what his little brother was after and said, "Not for the moment. But if you need it, I can make more next time."
Although Ye Fan had begun cultivating the Five Spirits Gold-Seeking Formula and could concoct some ordinary medicines, medicinal herbs were difficult to find. Besides, the bottle of "recovery potion" Kiba had drunk was only a newly formulated test version, which was why Ye Fan did not have any more on hand.
"Yes, I need it!" Kiba said anxiously.
Having experienced it firsthand, he naturally understood how miraculous the "recovery potion" was. Once swallowed, it felt like a sweet spring nourishing every cell in his body. Though it could not restore consumed chakra, it made his body feel much lighter.
"If you're not in a particular hurry, you can wait a while. After all, the newly formulated 'recovery medicine' isn't very good yet." Ye Fan looked thoughtful.
The "recovery potion" might have seemed incredibly miraculous to Kiba, but in Ye Fan's eyes, it was no different from trash. The bare minimum that would satisfy him was a potion capable of restoring chakra. Otherwise, it would defeat the purpose of making such medicine in the first place.
Ye Fan was desperately short of money right now, so he had thought of concocting medicines to sell. The "recovery medicine" was his first test product.
Because the herbs he had found were limited and he could not leave the village, the first batch of "recovery medicine" had turned out so unsatisfactory.
As they talked, the two had already returned home.
Once they got home, Kiba impatiently began asking about the test. He had not figured out how he had been caught off guard that day.
"Do you want to know why I forbade you from using that fighting style?" Ye Fan's expression suddenly turned serious.
Kiba nodded, staring straight at Ye Fan. He actually felt a little nervous. He truly feared that fighting style had some irreparable flaw. If that were the case, not only would he have failed to learn a new taijutsu, he would have lost one as well.
"You can't perfectly control that fighting style in your current state. If you encounter an experienced opponent, the one who suffers in the end will be you," Ye Fan said.
"I can't perfectly control it?" Kiba looked puzzled.
Ye Fan did not want to beat around the bush any longer. "While using chakra to increase your sense of smell by tens of thousands of times, you also increased the dangers associated with that sense of smell."
To help Kiba understand, Ye Fan took out a small wooden box and placed it on the table in front of him.
Kiba's gaze was immediately drawn to the little wooden box.
Before he could ask, Ye Fan said, "The medicinal powder inside is what made you collapse back then."
As he spoke, he opened the small wooden box, revealing pale green powder inside.
"Th-this is poison?" Kiba instinctively pressed down Akamaru's head as it poked out from his collar, afraid that Akamaru might sneeze.
"No, it isn't poison." Ye Fan's lips curved slightly. "More accurately, it's a powder that masks odors. To ordinary people, it has no smell. But to people or animals with especially keen noses, it is intensely irritating. That irritation was what made you lose the ability to move."
The moment the box opened, Akamaru, hidden inside Kiba's collar, immediately became restless. He pulled his head back in at once and kept twisting his body, making distressed noises.
"Akamaru, what's wrong?" Kiba asked, lowering his head.
"I think Akamaru smelled the powder," Ye Fan said as he closed the box again.
Sure enough, once the small wooden box was closed, the agitated Akamaru gradually calmed down.
Kiba looked up at Ye Fan in disbelief. Who could have imagined that such a small box of powder would be the bane of ninja dogs?
Huh?
Why was Shadow beside them unaffected?
At that moment, Kiba noticed that Shadow, the little ninja dog lying by Ye Fan's feet, had not been affected by the powder in the box.
"Brother Ye Fan, why is Shadow okay?" Kiba asked in astonishment.
"That's what I'm about to tell you." Ye Fan looked mysterious. After pausing briefly, he continued, "As long as you master a special technique, you can ignore this kind of irritation caused by odors. Shadow is fine precisely because of that."
"A special technique?"
"That's right. It's also what I intend to focus on teaching you next." Ye Fan's expression became serious. He continued, "Once you master this technique, it will not only enhance your sense of smell, but directly affect all five of your senses, allowing you to grasp the Essence of the Sixth Sense."
Though Kiba still did not completely understand, his curiosity had been thoroughly piqued. His eyes gleamed as he asked, "Brother Ye Fan, what is the 'Essence of the Sixth Sense'? Is it powerful?"
"How should I explain it to you?" Ye Fan struck a thinking pose. After a moment, he suddenly raised his head. "You know about the Hyuga Clan's Bloodline Limit, right?"
Kiba nodded. The Hyuga Clan's Byakugan was famously powerful, and Hinata Hyuga was in the same group as him, so it was impossible for him not to know.
"The 'Essence of the Sixth Sense' I'm talking about can be understood as an ability no weaker than the Byakugan," Ye Fan said thoughtfully.
"What?" Kiba was startled and rose straight from his seat.
After all, Bloodline Limits could only be possessed through a clan's bloodline inheritance.
"The Byakugan's ability is presumably X-ray vision, mostly used for reconnaissance. The Essence of the Sixth Sense is more like a type of perception. In that regard, it will be no weaker than the Byakugan. In fact, it will grow stronger along with your own strength." Ye Fan smiled. This was exactly what he wanted: to make Kiba take it seriously.
"I want to learn it. Teach me quickly!" Kiba could no longer wait.
He had originally only wanted to learn a taijutsu, but Ye Fan had unexpectedly given him something akin to a Bloodline Limit.
Because of his understanding of and trust in Ye Fan, Kiba's heart was filled with anticipation. He felt as though the blood throughout his body had begun to burn.
"You need to be mentally prepared. The Essence of the Sixth Sense isn't so easy to master. Without enough perseverance, you'll only give up halfway through."
Ye Fan narrowed his eyes slightly.
A preliminary training method had already formed in his mind.
