Summoned by the Clan Head

The sensation Kiba Inuzuka described as "every pore in his body breathing" could be called the initial stage of Embodied Awareness.

Originally,

Ye Fan had expected it would already be impressive if Kiba Inuzuka reached Embodied Awareness within two months. He had not expected that after only a few days, Kiba Inuzuka had already touched upon its threshold.

Ye Fan looked thoughtfully at Kiba Inuzuka. After a brief silence, he said,

"You're one step closer to success. Keep it up!"

After giving him a few simple instructions, Ye Fan left with his ninja hound.

Because of today's unexpected gain, he needed to find somewhere quiet and think things through.

Rather than going home, Ye Fan went deep into the woods and leaned against a large tree.

He looked as though he were resting.

After trying Genjutsu twice today, he was certain that in the future, no matter who used a similar technique on him,

he would be able to use that Memory Channel to read their memories.

What Ye Fan was considering now was how to retrieve useful memories in the shortest possible time.

"Perhaps next time, I can use Soul Suggestion to make specific memories stand out."

As that thought crossed his mind, Ye Fan suddenly frowned.

He abruptly opened his eyes and stared in one direction.

Someone was coming, interrupting his thoughts.

Two figures darted through the treetops before landing in front of Ye Fan.

They were from the Inuzuka Clan.

The man had distinct markings painted on his cheeks, and a huge gray ninja hound stood beside him.

"The clan head wants to see you!"

The man bluntly stated his purpose, his eyes filled with contempt as he looked at Ye Fan.

"For what?"

Ye Fan looked at him impatiently.

"That is not for you to ask. You'll understand once you see the clan head."

The man did not want to say another word to Ye Fan. After leaving those words behind, he turned and walked away.

Ye Fan did not move, maintaining his posture against the tree trunk.

He wondered why Inuzuka Goya had summoned him.

Within the Inuzuka Clan, Ye Fan was an insignificant presence.

Even clan meetings excluded him. Only a handful of people accepted him as completely as Kiba Inuzuka's family did.

Under such circumstances, why had the clan head sent someone to summon him?

Unable to figure it out for the moment, Ye Fan stopped thinking about it.

He returned to the train of thought that had just been interrupted, considering how to use Soul Suggestion to filter memories.

The man who had just left actually returned, his face dark and his eyes glinting coldly.

"Didn't you hear me? The clan head wants you to come."

The man's voice was icy. At that moment, he dearly wanted to step forward and teach Ye Fan a lesson.

This guy had actually made him come back again!

Did he not know that when the clan head summoned someone, they were supposed to go immediately?

"I heard you. Is there anything else you'd like to add?"

It was Inuzuka Goya who wanted to see him, not the other way around. What was the rush?

"Come with me immediately. Don't waste my time."

The man spoke with extreme impatience.

Ye Fan gave it some thought. If he got into a conflict with this man now, Hana Inuzuka would probably be the one put in an awkward position.

He did not want Hana Inuzuka to be reprimanded by Inuzuka Goya because of him.

"If you hadn't said so, I would've thought it was fine to go a little later!" Ye Fan said with a smile as he stood up. Then, in a lazy tone, he added, "Lead the way!"

Led by the man, Ye Fan arrived at an imposing residence. It had covered corridors, ornamental rockeries, and even a beautiful fish pond. It was much more refined than when Ye Fan had last visited.

"Clan Head, I've brought him."

When they arrived outside a room, the man who had led the way reported respectfully.

"Leave."

A deep voice came from inside the room.

"Yes!"

The man answered, then glared at Ye Fan before turning to leave.

Ye Fan stood alone outside the door. After a long while, not a sound came from within the room.

Was he planning to leave him hanging out here?

The corner of Ye Fan's mouth curved upward as he turned and headed down a side path.

He did not care whether Inuzuka Goya was in that room or not.

Since there was no response, he would just assume no one was inside.

It was also a good opportunity to scout out the residence.

Yet Ye Fan had barely walked a few meters when the door opened, revealing Inuzuka Goya.

"Where are you going?"

Inuzuka Goya spoke, but not a trace of emotion could be heard in his voice.

Ye Fan smiled sheepishly. "So the clan head was here. I thought I'd have to look elsewhere."

Inuzuka Goya's face darkened further.

He knew perfectly well that Ye Fan was doing this on purpose, yet he could not criticize him for it. After all, he had deliberately refused to show himself.

"Why did the clan head summon me?"

Ye Fan did not want to beat around the bush and asked directly.

But Inuzuka Goya said nothing. He merely stared sharply at Ye Fan, as though trying to see through him.

Ye Fan curled his lip. He hated it most when people had this bad habit—refusing to say what they wanted while putting on an air of profundity.

"If there's nothing, I'll be leaving."

Ye Fan truly turned to leave, showing Inuzuka Goya no deference at all.

So what if he was the clan head of the Inuzuka Clan?

"Stop!"

Inuzuka Goya finally spoke.

"If you have something to say, Clan Head, say it directly. I don't have that much time to waste here. I'm sure you know that my ninja retest is in two days."

Ye Fan was not intimidated by the other man's presence in the slightest. There was even a hint of disdain in his tone.

That was no surprise.

Ever since Ye Fan had transmigrated into this world, the clan head of the Inuzuka Clan had never left him with a good impression.

Faced with the discrimination and humiliation Ye Fan suffered from his fellow clansmen, this clan head had not only ignored it all, but had even looked at Ye Fan with contempt himself.

Even if Inuzuka Goya acted personally,

he might not necessarily be Ye Fan's match.

"I'm giving you two choices!"

"What choices?"

The smile on Ye Fan's lips grew more pronounced.

"Give up on becoming a ninja!"

"What's the other choice?"

Ye Fan asked calmly.

"Get out of the Inuzuka Clan!"

Inuzuka Goya's voice was low and his gaze contemptuous, as though Ye Fan standing before him were a stain on his life.

"Heh heh!"

Ye Fan laughed aloud.

Since the other party had laid everything bare, there was no need for him to keep playing along.

So Ye Fan asked back disdainfully,

"What if I choose neither?"
