Once people had money, they inevitably picked up the spending habits of the newly rich.
They bought new clothes, all kinds of experimental materials, Nimbus 2000s, and assorted magical products, then handed everyone a generous allowance. Ron Weasley even received an extra thousand Galleons in spending money, which left him so excited he nearly cried despite having lost his gold brick.

Harry had no shortage of money, since his parents had left him a small fortune in a vault.
"It feels absolutely brilliant to have money." Fred still had plenty of Galleons in his pocket, and as he walked through Diagon Alley, he wanted to buy everything he saw.
"Fred, remember our dream? Opening a shop of our very own here?" George stepped up and slung an arm around Fred's shoulders.
"Yes, I remember, and you've certainly reminded me, George!" Fred replied.
Ginny slowed down, waiting for Harry to draw level with her, then asked a little shyly, "Harry, my brother told me you're an Elemental Mage with both wind and fire affinities, and that you're really powerful."
Harry smiled at that. "Thank you, but there are plenty of people at school who are better than me."
Ginny looked at Harry with admiration. "My brother also said you're a Battle Mage, and that you defeated lots of enemies in the Small World."
"And he said you teamed up to defeat lots of enemies together. Especially at school, where you worked together to defeat that person."
Harry nodded. "Ron Weasley is very brave, and he's someone you can really count on. We worked perfectly together and defeated plenty of enemies."
