Chapter Eighty-One
After the cage was opened, Coo Coo cautiously poked her head out first, her mung-bean-sized eyes carefully surveying the large garden. Once she tentatively took her first step, she adapted to the environment and began pecking at the ground.
Li Wenchuan stood not far away, watching the three people ahead of him curiously observe the hen in the garden. A faint warmth drifted through his heart.
He rarely felt this way. In his previous life, he had grown used to being alone at a very young age, because he had discovered that his birth mother was not as he had understood her to be. Even his name seemed like a beautiful hope parents placed in the fruit of their love, a commemoration of the place where they had met.

Perhaps a cat, or a dog, even a potted flower or a tree. Giving it to her child only meant that a child was livelier than those things and better able to draw attention away.
It was not until he met Jiang Yan that he understood what it felt like to have someone by his side. Unlike his birth mother's elaborate love, Jiang Yan had not had so many formalities in the beginning. Their meeting had not involved scheming and intrigue; what mattered was that both of them had been sincere.
The only problem was that the other man had a bit of a sharp tongue.
