Background / History
Disappearance in Great Black Mountain
Zhao Feng is the son of Zhao Hualiang, a resident of Zhao Village. Before entering Great Black Mountain, he frequently visits Xie Jinghan’s courtyard and knows him well 41 59.
His father discovers a fragrant cave protected by an invisible barrier. After the barrier disappears, Hualiang takes Zhao Feng inside to seek a fortuitous opportunity. A gigantic White Tiger carries the boy away; Hualiang is subsequently wounded by wolves while pursuing it. His return without Zhao Feng prompts the villagers to organize a search 41 42.
Li Muyang’s Inheritance
Zhao Feng reappears on a distant peak during the battle against the Ink Jiao. Bearing an aged gaze and a glowing sun mark, he fires a radiant arrow into the creature’s skull. He then rises into the air and draws the fallen jiao into his longbow 50 51.
The extraordinary aura fades when Li Muyang’s remnant soul manifests beside him. Li explains that Zhao Feng awakened him by chance and possesses the temperament and aptitude suited to his legacy. He accepts the boy as his disciple and heir 51.
Li arranges a Blood Pact between Zhao Feng and the White Tiger, obtains Earthcore Fire Lotus materials for his cultivation, and receives a Vermilion Bird Fire Seed from Li Niannian. Before his assembled followers, he formally declares Zhao Feng his successor and charges him with reclaiming what their lineage lost 52 54.
Foundation Establishment and Departure
Three months later, Zhao Feng undergoes his Foundation Establishment tribulation on Little Azure Mountain. He meets all nine lightning bolts head-on with his fire-path powers and divine bow. The final bolt shatters his Fire Armor and leaves him charred in a crater, but he survives and reaches the True Essence Realm 56 57.
Seven days afterward, he visits Xie Jinghan to explain ancient qi refinement and invite him to Heaven Beyond Heaven. Xie declines until he has settled his mortal obligations; Zhao Feng respects the decision and promises to await him at the Blazing Sun Sect 59 60.
Before leaving, Zhao Feng arranges protection for Zhao Village and entrusts his relatives to Xie Jinghan. He later departs aboard Jin Qianbao’s flying boat with Zhao Xin’er and other young villagers, saluting Xie from the vessel 61 62 63.
Appearance
- Initial clothing: Plain attire when he appears as the mysterious archer 50.
- Inheritance-associated manifestation: A luminous sun mark between his brows and a world-worn gaze inconsistent with his youth accompany his rescue of Xie Jinghan 50.
- Tribulation attire: Scarlet flame armor, with fire swirling around his airborne figure 56.
- After Foundation Establishment: His aura becomes fully restrained, leaving an apparently unremarkable exterior with an underlying presence that Xie Jinghan cannot fathom 59.
Personality
Li Muyang describes Zhao Feng as kind, pure-hearted, and innocent. He is visibly moved upon learning that the villagers entered the mountains to find him, and he joyfully greets the companions who reach him afterward 51 52.
His rise in cultivation does not diminish his affection for Xie Jinghan. He insists that he will always regard Xie as an elder brother, freely shares cultivation insights, and gives him a suitable fire-attribute technique. His concern for his home remains equally strong: he calls Zhao Village his roots and makes arrangements for its safety before departing 59 60 61.
He also shows resolve under danger, refusing to dodge or retreat before his Foundation Establishment lightning tribulation 57.
Abilities & Skills
Ancient Qi Refinement
Zhao Feng practices a secret tradition of the ancient qi refiners rather than relying solely on the Great Yan Dynasty’s martial path 59.
- His supreme-grade fire spiritual root meets the qi-refiner path’s spiritual-root requirement 59.
- Uses the Hundred-Day Foundation Establishment Method to establish his foundation in three months 59.
- After advancement, his power takes the form of true essence rather than Innate True Qi 57.
Fire-Path Inheritance
Li Muyang’s inheritance supplies the fire-based powers central to Zhao Feng’s tribulation defense 57.
- Combines Fire Armor, Vermilion Bird fire, the Fire Lotus Seed, and his divine bow against heavenly lightning 57.
- Remains unharmed by the first bolt, but the final strike breaks his armor and severely burns him 57.
- Demonstrates unaided flight by the time tribulation clouds gather over Little Azure Mountain 56.
Bow Combat
The Red Sun Heaven-Burning Bow produces powerful attacks without conventional ammunition 50 56.
- Forms an arrow by gathering the spiritual energy of heaven and earth 50.
- Its debut arrow pierces the Ink Jiao’s scales and enters its skull; this display precedes Li Muyang’s emergence and should not be treated as Zhao Feng’s independent Postnatal-level strength 50 51.
- Serves alongside his flames as a defense against Foundation Establishment lightning 57.
Blood Pact
Li Muyang binds Zhao Feng and the White Tiger through their essence blood and golden runes 52.
- Links the pair in mind and spirit 52.
- The tiger willingly agrees to remain at Zhao Feng’s side 52.
- Zhao Feng calls his companion Little White and worries when it collapses into an advancement sleep 52.
