Batman sprang up from the ground, using his cape to conceal the damage to his chest as he looked at the man hovering in midair like a god—the guardian of Metropolis, Superman.
"Uh... need any help?"
Superman smiled kindly. He had just dealt with several robbers who had held up a shop in the neighboring district, and had flown over after hearing the commotion, only to find Batman.
After studying the materials Gordon had given Lois, Superman had concluded that this hero who hid in the darkness and fought with violence and fear stood on the side of justice.
"Why are you here?" Batman asked in a deep voice. The voice modulator at his throat made his voice sound low and rough.
"This? Traveling. Passing through." Superman was not particularly good at lying. His primary area of activity was around Metropolis.
Of course, if someone loudly called for Superman elsewhere and he happened to hear it, he might appear anywhere.
Batman regarded him with some suspicion. Metropolis was not far from Gotham, and everyone knew Superman could fly.
Batman had even taken time to study Superman's Steel Body. Naturally, as a hypothetical enemy, Batman had yet to find a way to defeat Superman—unless Superman could be stripped of all those "superpowers."
Superman slowly descended from the air. Looking at the scorched corpses on the ground, a trace of surprise appeared in his eyes.
Unlike Batman, whose personal creed was not to kill, Superman was a human no-kill absolutist. Yes, aside from humans, when faced with alien invasions, monster rampages, or attacks by mechanical monsters—
Once his Heat Vision swept across them, it did not pause in the slightest. It simply carved them into several pieces, with a kill rate comparable to Ultraman Ace.
Well, Batman was actually much the same.
