Miao Mu looked at the virtual projection screen outside. The faint black armor on his body vanished, and he could not help baring his teeth.
"Why are you a villain in every universe?"
Miao Mu had already recognized him. This guy was Batman from the Nazi Earth, also known as Leatherwing.
An utterly ruthless racist, a crusher of Jewish fish, an attendee at the Wannsee Conference, a contributor to industrialized slaughter projects, and a pioneer of harmless disposal.
Bat wings extended from the slanted swastika on his chest, but...
After thinking it over carefully, Miao Mu realized this Nazi Bat was not Bruce Wayne, but a descendant of Hans von Hammer.
A German Air Force pilot from World War I.
"Was that something I got to choose?"
Batman gave a helpless snort. Faced with something like this, he was just as bewildered and embarrassed.
Miao Mu pulled the car over and looked at the clean, orderly streets and the upscale buildings that suited an artist's aesthetic.
"The Nazis invaded the United States? Across universes?"
Miao Mu really wanted a cigarette, but he had none left. Batman examined the mechanical officer's head in his hand.
He said nothing. His mind was a mess as well.
"Why couldn't it have been Red Son? At worst, we'd dig potatoes in Siberia. Besides, I like potatoes."
Miao Mu grumbled nonstop as he started the armored police car and continued down the street. Other than some extra cleaning robots on the roads, the city seemed no different from a normal one.
Of course, that was if one ignored the skyscrapers reaching into the clouds. The materials and construction techniques were fucking incredible, with entire clusters of them rising up.
It felt like being in a primeval forest, surrounded by towering trees stretching endlessly beyond sight.
