The red Beetle sped along the streets of Metropolis as Miao Mu gripped the steering wheel and accelerated again.
Jimmy, seated in the back, was using his phone to contact Lois and the others, who had already gone out of touch.
"Still no answer?"
Miao Mu asked through the rearview mirror, pressing the accelerator again. The Beetle's exhaust sputtered like it was farting as the car picked up speed.
"No. That's not right—Clark isn't answering either! Wait, I'll try again." Jimmy sounded nervous.
The child disappearance case Lois and the others were investigating was connected to their Daily Planet colleague, Kate Grant.
She was a twenty-six-year-old unmarried woman, cheerful and compassionate.
For three consecutive days, the child disappearance case had occupied the Daily Planet's front page. More children were vanishing, yet the incompetent police had found no leads whatsoever.
Lois, the Daily Planet's chief investigative reporter, had decided to take her loyal little sidekick Clark to investigate.
As a result, they found the missing children at Miss Grant's home. Dressed in toy doll clothes and tied up with ribbons, they had been left at her doorstep like gifts, along with a note.
"Kate, become my mother. Adopt me. From your loving good baby."
And the children had been delivered for two days in a row. After examining them, doctors found that their minds had been manipulated.
When Miao Mu heard what the note said, he had suspected that someone from Gotham had wandered over here. The stench of insanity was too strong—strong enough to earn someone a private room at Arkham Asylum.
After that, Lois had taken the lead in pursuing the matter, because Clark had unexpectedly... found a clue.
At an abandoned toy factory in western Metropolis, they had once manufactured toys that included this style of doll outfit.
