The rest was manageable, but the days of roughing it on the mountain had tormented Miao Mu badly. This mountain range was a little too large...
The car had broken down halfway up and could not climb any farther. With no other choice, they set up camp where they were. The rooftop tent had also broken, but fortunately, they had the coffin to use as a bed. They just threw it on the ground.
Then, in the middle of the night... wolves came.
But Miao Mu had a gun. The result was that Jason strung together a necklace of wolf teeth and, whenever he had nothing to do, polished them one by one with a scrap of cloth.
"Move, keep up! Run!"
Miao Mu wore a cloak and carried a shovel and crowbar as he ran at the front. He was light as a swallow, his inner energy surging, far ahead of the others.
Jason was much worse off. He was left far behind. The kid had not yet trained up his speed and agility.
Standing on a protruding rock, Miao Mu raised a hand to shield his eyes from the sun and looked out over a valley below that was filled with rubble. It looked as though it had been formed by an earthquake or floodwaters, but that had happened a very long time ago.
Even now, he had not figured out what kind of treasure might be hidden here, but getting here had not been easy either.
Jason came running up from behind, panting heavily. Miao Mu tossed him the rope, then jumped straight down from above.
The sight nearly made Jason's heart stop. He hurried over and saw Miao Mu moving like an agile mountain monkey, using both hands and feet to leap across the protruding rocks.
