At night, aside from the streetlights and the skyscrapers that stood out against the city skyline, every building in Star City had gone dark. Only the billboards atop their rooftop terraces gave off a faint white glow.
The entire city seemed shrouded in darkness.
Only in certain narrow alleys hidden behind towering buildings did the glittering lights of nightlife remain.
Happy Valley Bar.
Miao Mu had a slim cigar between his lips and wore a beige plaid suit. He looked somewhat like a male escort, except for his pursed lips, furrowed brow, and expression that warned strangers to stay away.
It immediately drove off the ladies looking to strike up a conversation and seek an exciting one-night stand.
"What kind of expression is that supposed to be?"
Nygma approached in a dark green suit, impeccably dressed, his hair slicked back to a shine. He snapped his fingers and called toward the bar, "An Emerald Dragon!"
"Thinking about going back to Gotham has me feeling a little irritated." Miao Mu shook his head with the cigarette still in his mouth and tapped the ash into a shell-casing ashtray.
Miao Mu asked, "The lawsuit's over?"
"Yeah." Nygma nodded, taking the Emerald Dragon cocktail handed over by the bartender. It was honeydew-flavored, with a little stick topped by a yellow question mark.
It was precisely because of that question mark that Nygma had chosen this drink. It made it stand out.
"Otis got back the justice and compensation he wanted. Those old bastards were only willing to pay one million. If I hadn't used a few tricks, two million would've been impossible."
Nygma raised his eyebrows as he spoke. Miao Mu did not need to guess to know those "few tricks" had been anything but minor. Still, that was fine.
"You've worked hard."
