After walking out of the Great Elder's courtyard, Qian saw Uchiha Zhi Ren again and asked in confusion, "You still haven't left?"

"Waiting for you."

Uchiha Zhi Ren replied.

"Waiting for me?"

Confusion showed in Qian's eyes.

"Mm."

Uchiha Zhi Ren nodded, then said solemnly, "Thank you!"

Hearing that thanks only left Qian even more baffled.

Then he heard him explain, "I had a younger brother. He was very talented and awakened the Double Tomoe Sharingan at a young age, but during one mission, he died unexpectedly.

The investigation results the village gave were that he had been too rash, walked into an ambush, and was killed by the enemy working together.

I didn't believe it. I knew my brother's personality. He was naturally very cautious and couldn't possibly have rushed ahead, so I suspected there was something wrong with that investigation report.

So I investigated it myself in private.

In the end, I discovered he hadn't been killed by the enemy at all. He had been ambushed by one of our own.

After that, through some verification, I found that the person who acted was very likely from the Anbu—or more accurately, it was a Root Ninja who did it.

"So that's how it was!"

Qian finally understood why, when the other man had come to bring him to the Great Elder earlier, his gaze had been so complicated.

Presumably, he had always wanted to avenge his younger brother, but lacking the strength himself, he could only endure it.

And now, after suddenly learning from the Great Elder about what Qian might have done, it was only natural that his heart would be filled with mixed feelings.
