"I hope this book will help you better master the use of Chaos Force."

Suppressing the wild joy in his heart, Chen Xu accepted the book Ancient One handed him, his palm trembling slightly.

Chen Xu thought, Ancient One actually had books like this. Did he have even more powerful books, ones that recorded even more powerful magic? Next time, he had to find a way to get them—find a way into Ancient One's room to read those books.

Chen Xu took the book.

"Master, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving first."

"Mm, go ahead."

Chen Xu pushed open the doors of Ancient One's sanctum and left without looking back.

Ancient One watched Chen Xu's departing back, seemingly lost in thought. Then he sighed and turned his gaze toward the sanctum's dome, as though he wanted to see straight through it.

Overjoyed, Chen Xu carried the book through the magical teleportation array and returned to the New York Sanctum. He first went back to his dormitory and put the book away. He was in no hurry to study it; he planned to check in at the Golden Angle Building first.

Chen Xu used a portal to arrive outside the New York Sanctum. Rather than appearing on a crowded street, he chose a quieter corner to avoid causing an unnecessary commotion. He then walked to a busier street and hailed a taxi.

"Driver, take me to the Golden Angle Building."

On the way there, Chen Xu wondered why the Phoenix Force had erupted because of him. Wasn't the Phoenix Force's host Jean Grey? Could it have been because of his powerful mental strength?

"I remember Jean Grey is a mutant with telepathic abilities, similar to Professor X's psychic control. Her mental strength must be especially powerful, so was that why the Phoenix Force chose her as its host?"

The truth was exactly as Chen Xu had guessed. His mental strength was so powerful that it had pierced directly through the multiverse, and the Phoenix Force had sensed it as well. In fact, the Phoenix Force selected hosts by determining whether their essence could recreate the complete Phoenix Force. Chen Xu's mental strength, powerful enough to pierce the multiverse, had been detected by the Phoenix Force, which was why he had triggered its eruption.

Before long, the taxi came to a stop.

The taxi driver was a stereotypical burly Black man and extremely talkative. Even though Chen Xu had not chatted with him, the man had gone from talking about Captain America to the Fantastic Four.

"Driver, have we reached the Golden Angle Building?"

"No. There are two people fighting up ahead, so we probably can't get through."

"What? Someone's fighting up ahead?"

"Yes, we need to leave quickly. If we get caught up in it and our lives are put at risk, it won't be worth it."

Just as the driver was about to turn around, Chen Xu stopped him.

"What? Are you crazy? You still want to go over there? Aren't you afraid of dying?"

"I am. Of course I am. Just let me off here. You should leave first. Thanks, driver."

The driver hurried off without even looking back, muttering under his breath as he went.

"Damn, there really are people who aren't afraid of death?"

With that, he sped away without the slightest intention of lingering.

After getting out of the taxi, Chen Xu used his Chaos Magic and his understanding of energy fields to create mental control, making the reckless onlookers clear a path for him. That was the advantage of Chaos Magic.

Chen Xu easily passed through the crowd of spectators and police officers, arriving beneath the Golden Angle Building. He saw the people fighting, as well as several police officers trembling nearby, helpless and utterly unable to stop them.

They were the Fantastic Four. Two of them were fighting Doctor Doom, while the buildings behind them had been reduced to ruins.

"Call me Doctor Doom."

Wearing a brown hooded trench coat, Victor seized Mister Fantastic by the throat and roared at him.

In a hoarse voice, he shouted his new name, "My name is Doctor Doom!"

The system's voice rang out.

"Congratulations, Host. You have successfully checked in and completed the system's mission. You have received the system reward: one-thousandth of the Phoenix Force."

The instant the system's voice faded, the cry of a phoenix rang beside Chen Xu's ears. When he opened his eyes, he was no longer on Earth. He had appeared directly in the void. Before him stood a phoenix larger than the multiverse itself, radiating red and gold. Energy flowed slowly around it, exuding a mysterious, ancient aura that rushed toward him. It seemed like the embodiment of all beauty in the world.

Chen Xu was utterly shocked by the phoenix's power and beauty. But in the next instant, an incomparably astonishing sight appeared before him. An attack from nowhere directly shattered the phoenix into countless fragments, scattering them throughout the multiverse. Chen Xu was too stunned for words, unable to describe how he felt. It also made him understand that there was always someone stronger, and that his own strength was still far from enough.

"So this is the Phoenix Force?"

Feeling the powerful force that had fused with him, Chen Xu now possessed both Chaos Force and the Phoenix Force within his body. He worried that the two forces would clash. As they continuously drew closer within him, the system's voice rang out once more.

"The system is helping the Host fuse the Chaos Force, Phoenix Force, and Omega Rays within his body. Please wait patiently."

Chen Xu was startled. They could actually be fused together? The system truly was the essential cheat for a transmigrator.

Within Chen Xu's body, the Chaos Force and Phoenix Force continuously revolved, slowly merging together. In the end, a sacred golden-red phoenix was born. Its eyes were incomparably beautiful, as though they reflected all the stars of the universe. From time to time, a beautiful red-gold gleam flashed within them, as though it could pierce through the entire universe.

The people fighting also noticed Chen Xu's presence. Doctor Doom fired two energy beams directly at him. Chen Xu immediately used Telekinesis and energy control to create an energy field, reflecting Doctor Doom's two energy beams back at him. He then used Ice-Freezing Magic, freezing two members of the Fantastic Four along with Doctor Doom. Like several ice statues, they stood there without moving.

Chen Xu disappeared into the crowd without looking back at them.

Doctor Doom, frozen by Chen Xu, kept staring in the direction Chen Xu had left, his lips moving.

"It's real. What Mother said was real. Magic truly exists, and it's this powerful. Just wait—I'll become a magician too."
