On the outskirts of the Gamma-7 Nebula, the Nova Corps' unexpected intervention instantly turned the tide of battle.
The Nova fleet was well trained, its energy weapons precise and efficient. Blue-and-gold beams sliced through and destroyed the Observers' overwhelming tide of silver drones like surgical scalpels. Their tight formation and seamless coordination marked them as an elite, battle-hardened force.
The pressure on the Benatar dropped sharply. Star-Lord seized the opportunity, sending the ship into a deft, sharply banking dive. It narrowly evaded a massive, distorting force-field beam fired from the planetary base and rendezvoused with the Nova flagship, the Nova Supreme.
"Thanks for the help, friends from Nova!" Star-Lord immediately connected to the Nova Corps' encrypted communications channel, his gratitude sincere.
"The Guardians of the Galaxy? I've heard of you. I'm Centurion Rhomann Dey." The flagship commander's voice was steady and strong. "Report your situation. Which faction do these mechanical units attacking you belong to? And what is that base?"
"We're not entirely sure ourselves!" Gamora replied quickly, leaving out some details. "They call themselves the Observers. Their technology is strange, and they're extremely aggressive! That base is their forward outpost!"
"The Observers?" A trace of doubt and gravity entered Commander Dey's voice. "No civilization or organization by that name is on record... but their technology is highly advanced. All units, stay alert. Prioritize destroying hostile units. Hold off on attacking the base itself!"
With the Nova Corps joining the fight, the battle shifted from a one-sided encirclement to a fierce struggle. Despite their vast numbers and bizarre technology, the Observers' drones could no longer maintain absolute dominance against the Nova Corps' standardized fleet firepower. The planetary base also seemed wary. Its enormous energy weapons were not firing at full strength, serving more as a deterrent.
