Background / History

The Ancient Clan has endured for ten thousand years and possesses a deeply rooted inheritance, including powerful Dou Shengs, an ancient bloodline system, and a vast internal population within the Ancient Realm. Its elders regard the preservation and strengthening of the Battle God Bloodline as a central clan priority. 76 106 107

When Xun’er left the Xiao Family to follow Xiao Yan toward the Black-Corner Region, the clan council reacted with alarm. Several elders considered the region unworthy of her and feared that her relationship with an outsider could affect her bloodline, while Patriarch Gu Yuan remained restrained and ordered Ling Ying to continue accompanying her. 17

After Xun’er reached the Dou Wang realm, the elders argued that she should return for bloodline baptism and that the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade should be recovered from Xiao Yan. Gu Yuan ultimately permitted any elder willing to travel to the Black-Corner Region to retrieve both Xun’er and the jade. 76

The resulting mission failed when Gu Yao, the Black Annihilation Army, and a concealed clan elder confronted Han Feng in Sacred City. Han Feng forced the army from the sky, suppressed the elder, and sent the delegation back in disgrace. 77

Years later, the clan invited Falling Star Pavilion to its coming-of-age ceremony and opened the Ancient Realm to qualified guests. Xiao Yan’s arrival intensified existing hostility among many Ancient Clan youths because of his relationship with Xun’er. 99 102 103

Patriarch and Elders

• Gu Yuan — Patriarch of the Ancient Clan. He exercises decisive authority over the elders, personally intervenes when his subordinates mistreat invited guests, and prioritizes the clan’s public dignity. 17 76 102
• Elder Gu Xun — Oversees the opening of the Ancient Realm and issues its rules to visitors. 106
• Elder Tong Xuan — A highly respected elder who personally presides over Xun’er’s bloodline examination. 109
• Elder Gu Nanhai — Mediates after several hidden clan members attempt to pressure Xiao Yan, apologizing to Han Feng on the clan’s behalf. 108

Ancient Clan Descendants

The clan maintains a vast population of descendants within the Ancient Realm. These descendants possess extremely diluted Battle God Bloodlines and occupy the clan’s lowest social rank, but exceptional mutations can elevate an individual into a true Ancient Clan member. 106

The clan strictly prevents outsiders from remaining in the Ancient Realm or marrying descendants, fearing that marriage with outsiders could overwrite the descendants’ weak bloodline and reduce the clan’s future pool of talent. 107

Coming-of-Age Ceremony

The coming-of-age ceremony is held once every twenty years for the clan’s outstanding younger members. Completing it is required to be recognized as an adult within the Ancient Clan; afterward, members may enter the clan’s core ranks and become eligible for marriage. 99 109

Bloodline quality is measured through an ancient star chart and determines the clan mark awarded to a participant.

Eastern Region

The Ancient Clan controls the Central Plains’ Eastern Region. Many local forces are subordinate branches of the clan, and its name functions as a powerful deterrent throughout the region. 100

Ancient Sacred City

Ancient Sacred City is the sole entrance to the Ancient Realm. It is normally closed to outsiders and heavily guarded by the Black Annihilation Army; even a Peak Dou Venerable would struggle to force entry without an invitation. 100 101

The city is protected by a barrier containing a trace of an Ancient Clan Dou Di’s Battle God Power. Visitors must descend and proceed on foot within one thousand zhang of the city out of reverence for that ancestor. 101

Ancient Realm

The Ancient Realm is an immense artificial world created by a legendary Dou Di. Its heaven-and-earth energy is several times denser than that of the outside world, providing an exceptional cultivation environment. 106

Visitors enter through a thousand-foot spatial gate opened above the lake at Ancient Sacred City. They are forbidden from wandering into unknown spatial rifts or disturbing the Ancient Clan Descendants. 106

Void Shuttle Boats

The clan possesses ancient Void Shuttle Boats capable of traveling through space faster than even Peak Dou Venerable experts. These vessels transport guests from the Ancient Realm’s entrance toward the Ancient Sacred Mountains. 106 107

Heavenly Tomb

The Heavenly Tomb is the principal objective for many guests attending the Ancient Clan gathering. It contains energy imprints of ancient experts, including Xiao Xuan, and defeating these imprints grants pure energy for cultivation. 107
