Nighttime Encounter

Sendou turned at the sound of a familiar voice and saw a graceful figure standing there, her arms wrapped around a stack of books.

"Takako-san! Did you just get back from Cram School?" Sendou asked in surprise.

The newcomer was Senior Takako, an upperclassman who had retired from the Baseball Club. Since she would not graduate until March next year, she could not yet be called an alumna.

"Mm! I came straight back after class today, so I got home a little earlier than usual," Senior Takako said softly, nodding.

Sendou knew Senior Takako was busy. She was completely different from the other upperclassmen; there was no way she could receive an athletic recommendation.

Besides, Senior Takako's goal was an ambitious one... the Tokyo University Faculty of Medicine.

In Japan, it was said that no ordinary foreigner could get in—only aliens could.

Science III had a deviation score of 79, an admission score of roughly 370, and among applicants, only 0.01 percent made the cut.

What did a deviation score of 79 mean? A score of 60 meant a student ranked in the top 15.886 percent of examinees nationwide. A score of 40 meant they were in the bottom 15.886 percent.

A deviation score of 70, or 30, represented 2.275 percent.

Todai's Faculty of Medicine was close to 80.

It only admitted a little over two hundred students every year.

Of course, getting in also meant their future income would be extremely substantial.

Their annual income was around twenty million yen, with even the lowest earning more than sixteen million yen.

Even though Seidou was a college-preparatory school, getting into the Tokyo University Faculty of Medicine would still be hellishly difficult for Senior Takako.

Some people thought Japanese high school material was simple, but the truth was exactly the opposite.
