Looking Ahead for Lin-Yue's Oath: Eternity

Dear readers,

I hope this letter finds you well.

The initial impulse behind creating this slice-of-life story centered on Tang Wulin and Gu Yue came from an almost "rebellious" romantic notion. We had witnessed too much of their opposition, slaughter, misunderstandings, and sacrifices. They were two utterly opposing forces, rivals on the chessboard of fate who were destined to fight to the death. Yet when I closed the original novel and shut my eyes, what surfaced in my mind was not their earth-shattering clash, but another image.

I wrote Lin-Yue's Oath because I wanted to sow seeds called "everyday life" in the cracks between the hard rocks of those grand narratives, then patiently water them until they blossomed into the sweetest flowers. I wanted to strip away the heavy labels of "Golden Dragon King," "Silver Dragon King," "God of Destruction," and "Goddess of Life," leaving only two people of flesh and blood—people who could hurt, grow tired, feel their hearts race, and get jealous. With my own words, I wanted to portray their entire journey from "unable to stand the sight of each other," to "secret feelings taking root," and finally, "it had to be you." That was the purest original intention I gave this book.

II. The Future: A Sweet Plan From "Heartbeats" to "Growing Old Together"

Though we were only just beginning, I had already sketched out a sweet roadmap for the future, made up of countless little moments of happiness. I did not want this to be merely a collection of sugary scenes. I hoped it could become a warm chronicle recording their love from its first sprout to maturity.

Phase One: "Sweetness" and "Testing the Waters" (Currently Underway)

This was the beginning of our story. Set against the backdrop of Shrek Academy, Xie Xie, Xu Xiaoyan, and the others served as both third wheels and wingmen. At this stage, the focus was on creating charming contrasts and the push-and-pull of an ambiguous relationship. Although I made everyone misunderstand that Xie Xie and Gu Yue were a couple, I would like to apologize to you all for that.

The melting of the "cold goddess": We would see how Gu Yue spoke the most caring words in the most disdainful tone; how, before Tang Wulin, she changed from being rigid and proper into a little girlfriend who blushed without realizing it and secretly took his side.

Wulin's clumsiness and persistence: Tang Wulin would respond to every hint of Gu Yue's emotions in his most straightforward, most awkward way. He would run all over the city because of an offhand remark from her, and he would completely lower his guard before her.

Everyone else's perspective: Through the viewpoints of Xie Xie, Xu Xiaoyan, and the others, we would highlight the sweet atmosphere between them—the kind where "the whole world knows something is off between them, yet they are the only ones still stubbornly denying it."

Phase Two: The "Everyday Warmth" and "Confirmation" of the City Arc

As the story developed, they would enter a broader society. At this stage, the sweetness would shift from subtle hints to something impossible to miss. The core would be the official establishment of their relationship and their first experience of living together.

The chaos of "cohabitation": Perhaps because of an unexpected mission, or perhaps because Gu Yue needed a "base," they would begin living together.

The many forms of "dates": No longer chance encounters at the academy where they silently understood each other, but genuine, carefully planned dates. Watching movies, walking along the shore... Amid the ordinary bustle of daily life, they would learn how to be a normal couple and discover each other's most lovable human sides beyond their divine natures.

A detour involving a "love rival" and a token of affection: Perhaps some fool would show up and try to challenge Tang Wulin's position. What would happen then? Of course, most people knew better. And under what warm circumstances would they exchange that token of affection symbolizing how their hearts understood each other?

Phase Three: The "Glimmer" and "Protection" of the Hidden-Thread Arc

Even amid the sweetest romance, we could not completely avoid the heavy overarching background of the original The Legend of the Dragon King. At this stage, the undertone of this sweet romance would become slightly deeper. Its core would be "standing at the heart of the storm and holding up a patch of clear sky for you."

Phase Four: The "Eternity" and "Lingering Echo" of the Finale

When this book's finale sounded, all stories and destinies would finally settle into place. Our story would also welcome its most perfect conclusion. This chapter would contain only the peace and happiness of "taking your hand and growing old together."

The ringing of "wedding" bells: What kind of wedding would it be? Would holy angels offer their blessings, or would it be a lively gathering of friends and family? In my imagination, it would certainly be simple and pure, concerning only the two of them and those who truly loved them. This would be the destination for all of us, and the most beautiful home for every story.

III. Thanks: It Is You Who Gave This "Sweetness" an Echo

Finally, and most importantly, I wanted to offer my deepest respect and most solemn gratitude to you—my dear readers.

Throughout the creation of this work, I often fell into self-doubt: Would this plot cause misunderstandings? Would this development be too cliché? Was I writing too immaturely? It was your enthusiasm that gave me the greatest affirmation.

Thank you for the heartfelt words you left behind, which nourished my passion for writing. It was you who let me know that this love I portrayed—one that transcended fate and opposing stances—was desired and blessed.

I knew that fanfiction was a road full of unknowns, but because you walked alongside me, that road was filled with sunshine. Your companionship was my greatest motivation to keep writing every day and work hard to bring you sweetness. This little book possessed the power to heal hearts beyond the words themselves only because of your reading and love.

The road ahead was still long. I would continue, with care and stroke by stroke, to weave one dream after another overflowing with sweetness for our beloved Lin-Yue. I also hoped we could always remain like this, sharing the same fluttering hearts and protecting the same beauty in this little world of words.

Thank you once again. May your lives be as sweet as this story.

With love, Author: [Vast Sea Tide]
