Rest Assured, You Are a Human
The door of the black sedan slid open silently, Leng Yaoyu's red hair fluttering like a flame in the morning wind.
She walked slowly toward Guang Long, who had collapsed onto the ground.
That hideous face was twisted into a bizarre arc at the moment, his entire body's bones dislocated while eerily maintaining vital signs, as if forcibly pieced together by some sort of force.
Her red eyes narrowed slightly, a flash of surprise crossing the depths of her gaze: "Healing ability?"
This sort of healing method was unheard of, even given her vast experience.
Her gaze shifted slightly, falling upon Ziyang not far away.
The boy knelt on one knee, his chest heaving violently, fine beads of sweat sliding down his pale cheeks.
His knuckles were still white from excessive force, but those eyes were as cold as frosty stars, showing not a shred of fatigue.
Looking at the strange soul ring glowing behind his head and that refreshing feeling of breaking through a shackle, his heart was filled with excitement.
Leng Yaoyu's lips curved upward slightly, her skirt blooming like a red lotus as she bent down. She extended a slender, jade-like hand, her fingertips glowing with a faint, moist luster in the morning light: "Little fellow, your name is Ziyang, is it not?"
"Be my disciple."
Ziyang raised his head slowly, his pupils reflecting the woman's peerlessly beautiful face.
The boy's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, his voice clear: "Big Sister, before I take you as my master, I should at least know your identity."
Memories surged in his mind; there was only one red-haired high-ranking official in the Spirit Pagoda, but that red-haired official ought to have been at the Spirit Pagoda Headquarters.
Leng Yaoyu chuckled lightly. "What a smart child. I am the vice-pagoda master of the Spirit Pagoda, Sky Phoenix Douluo Leng Yaoyu."
"Are you willing to be my disciple?"
Ziyang's guess was confirmed, and his body trembled involuntarily, driven by excitement. He glanced at Yao Shiyu, who was nodding gently not far away, and then caught sight of Su Haitao's desperately flattering appearance, saying with confidence: "I am willing."
"Come with me." Leng Yaoyu straightened up, then continued: "As for that person over there, Su Haitao will handle him."
"Teacher," Ziyang turned around abruptly, looking at the group behind him: "I need to say goodbye to the dean and the others."
Leng Yaoyu nodded slightly. She had long since investigated clearly that this child's only condition for joining the Spirit Pagoda was to sponsor that dilapidated orphanage.
The corners of her mouth ticked upward slightly; this child, valuing loyalty and affection so deeply, suited her inclinations even more than those geniuses who soared on their very first try.
She watched the boy's back as he ran toward the orphanage crowd, saw the dean pull Ziyang into a warm embrace, and saw the children tugging at the corners of his clothes...
"He looks like a very good child."
When Ziyang finally got into that black sedan, the car window reflected his calm profile.
Leng Yaoyu's red eyes flickered slightly as she looked at the boy beside her. "Very well, you will have opportunities to return in the future."
Ziyang did not answer, instead gazing out the window at the rapidly receding outline of the orphanage, until that mottled building grew smaller and smaller in his field of vision, finally turning into a blurred black dot on the horizon.
"Understood, Teacher." The boy's voice was very soft. "I will return here again."
Arriving at the East Sea Spirit Pagoda once more, Leng Yaoyu led Ziyang as they stepped into the elevator, pressing the button for the bottom floor while her peripheral vision swept over Ziyang, who still appeared somewhat restrained behind her.
The elevator descended in silence, and Ziyang could not help asking: "Teacher, are we going to choose my soul spirit now?"
Leng Yaoyu did not answer immediately, instead bringing Ziyang into a room.
The lighting inside this room was soft, with a wide leather sofa placed in the center.
The red-haired woman walked straight in, her skirt spreading out like water as she sat down gracefully.
"Do you know how your rose-gold first soul ring came to be? And what your soul skill is?"
Her voice was unhurried, her red eyes burning like torches as they nailed themselves directly onto Ziyang's face.
Ziyang's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and he shook his head: "When I saw the dean get beaten today, it just appeared out of nowhere when I got angry. The soul skill is healing, but when I get angry, the direction of the healing seems to become uncontrollable."
He truly did not know; the soul ring had just gone swoosh and appeared.
Yet had he been a hundred-thousand-year soul beast in human form, Leng Yaoyu, this Limit Douluo, should have killed him long ago and harvested his soul ring and soul bone.
Leng Yaoyu's fingertips tapped lightly on the sofa armrest, the rhythm slow and full of oppressive force.
Her gaze swept inch by inch over the boy's face, neck, and wrists, as if she intended to pierce through skin and flesh to see straight through his soul. After a long moment, she narrowed her eyes and her red lips parted slightly: "Is that so?"
Leng Yaoyu was extremely certain that Ziyang was a human, yet she still had not figured out why a human could self-condense a soul ring. Clearly, after making countless checks in the car, she still wanted to ask this question that had no answer.
Yet that soul ring did not seem to be attached to his martial soul; it felt more as though it came from his bloodline. Could it be that his ancestors were not human?
"Rest assured, you are indeed human." Her voice softened by a margin, yet still carried the unique majesty of one in a position of authority. "Do not feel frightened because of this; no matter what, that is still a power belonging to you."
"Do not feel puzzled because of this. You can completely rest assured and boldly use your power."
Leng Yaoyu offered words of comfort, shifting the topic: "Ziyang, what do you think the development direction of your martial soul is? Go ahead and speak your mind boldly; Teacher will not be angry."
Ziyang raised his head and said with confidence: "Multiple elements. I feel that Austin Griffin can master multiple elemental breaths."
Leng Yaoyu smiled faintly, her gaze shifting toward the small black beast in the distance: "Austin Griffin—is this the name you gave him? Very good. The direction of development is about the same as what I anticipated. However, my idea is Destruction Breath."
"Although we do not possess a soul spirit with the destruction attribute, we still have soul spirits with the annihilation attribute, such as the Rouge Dragon. Of course, you may also proceed according to your own ideas."
While speaking, a tablet computer was pushed across to Ziyang: "Choose carefully; you only need to swipe the screen. If there is anything you don't recognize, boldly ask me."
"Understood, Teacher." Ziyang nodded, picked up the tablet, and tried it out slightly; it was much like the ones from his previous life.
Leng Yaoyu leaned more toward letting Ziyang make his own decisions. If he truly made a mediocre choice, she, his teacher, would be there to correct it in time.
The depths of Ziyang's eyes were likewise filled with anticipation for the world of soul masters; Innate Full Soul Power in this era was merely an admission ticket to enter the soul master world.
In this era, no matter what one wished to do, it required an astonishing amount of money.
Do you have any idea how much a soul spirit costs in the Spirit Pagoda?! A soul guide carriage wouldn't even be enough to haul the money away.
A ten-year soul spirit cost tens of thousands of Federation Credits, while a century-old soul spirit started at a million Federation Credits.
A millennium-old soul spirit cost tens of millions.
Ten-thousand-year soul spirits could simply not be measured with money.
Not to mention things like the children of great families growing up eating heavenly treasures every single day—how could ordinary people possibly surpass them?
Especially when there was also something like battle armor, which burned money on an even more extraordinary scale.
There was spirit battle armor, alongside harsh restrictive conditions.
He temporarily cast these distracting thoughts aside, turning his gaze toward the tablet in his hand, knowing that this first soul spirit was of paramount importance and had to be chosen with the utmost care.
This was his future natal soul spirit, and he absolutely could not choose carelessly.
