S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters.
Director Nick Fury stood by the window, patiently listening to the report from his capable assistant, Agent Maria Hill.
"So, General Ross's capture team was utterly defeated at Culver University in Virginia by Hulk, Dr. Bruce Banner's transformed form?"
"Yes. Dr. Banner has already fled Culver University with General Ross's daughter, Dr. Betty Ross, and they've vanished without a trace."
Hill nodded.
"Have we found out where he's going next?"
Nick Fury turned around and asked.
Hill handed the report in her hand to Fury.
"Based on Dr. Banner's email records retrieved from the system by our technical staff in Logistics, we can confirm that he has been in constant contact with someone called Mr. Blue. He seems to be trying to find a way to restore his body to normal through him.
Therefore, we believe that he will most likely take Dr. Betty Ross to find Mr. Blue next."
"Mr. Blue? Dr. Samuel Sterns from the Biological Cell Department at Grayburn College in New York? So they're heading to New York?"
Nick Fury frowned as he looked over the information on Mr. Blue in his hand.
"Yes. After receiving intelligence from us, General Ross has already led people to lie in ambush near Grayburn College. He intends to capture Dr. Banner in one stroke and bring him back for research. What about us?"
Hill looked at him questioningly.
Nick Fury thought for a moment before replying.
"General Ross belongs to the military, so it wouldn't be appropriate for us to interfere too much with his operation. But given the current situation, I don't think they have much chance of succeeding.
Do this: go to New York yourself. If Dr. Banner escapes their capture, do everything you can to track his location, but don't alert him again."
"Yes, Director!"
Hill nodded and prepared to leave.
At that moment, Nick Fury seemed to remember something and called Agent Hill back.
"While you're in New York, find an opportunity to make contact with this child. Look into him while you're at it, and find out his true identity."
Hill took the file Nick Fury handed her. It contained several photos of Jerry wearing a Wizard Suit and riding a flying broom into the fire, as well as information about his recent acts of heroism.
Not long after Hill left, a female agent with a stunning figure, dressed in a black combat bodysuit and sporting reddish-brown curls, pushed open the door and entered.
"Natasha, how are things on your end?"
Fury asked without surprise upon seeing her.
The newcomer was none other than Black Widow Natasha Romanoff, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s all-purpose agent skilled in disguise, infiltration, hacking, combat, and much more.
"I've successfully infiltrated Stark Industries and am currently Tony Stark's secretary. However, from what I've observed, Tony seems to have developed serious health problems, and his mental state is far from stable."
Black Widow truthfully summarized her mission's progress and the intelligence she had gathered over this period for Fury.
"Palladium poisoning? I understand. Continue undercover surveillance of Tony Stark's physical and mental condition. Report to me immediately if anything happens."
Fury showed no surprise at Black Widow's report.
One week later, Queens, New York.
"What do you think about the Wizard who recently appeared?"
"The Wizard? I watched the livestream of him saving people from that fire. Whether he can really use magic or not, I like him. I think he's a hero. Yes, that's exactly what he is!"
"I don't think he's a child at all. He might be a dwarf, or perhaps a short old man, or maybe he was cursed and his body shrank. Look, Wizards in stories are always like that!"
"I think he really is a child, perhaps attending some school that specializes in teaching magic. In fact, I've always believed magic exists, and I even made a website for it.
Wizard, if you can see this report, please visit my website. The address is xxxx."
"Oh, what Wizard? He's just a freak, a magic-performing Joker. I don't believe in magic. Science—we should believe in science!"
"You mean that elegant Mr. Wizard? He saved my life. I like him—or rather, I love him. He's a child? That's fine. I can accept an older woman-younger man relationship!
By the way, Little Wizard, I have plenty of money. I can support you. Call me when you have time. My number is xxxx."
"All right, that concludes today's street interviews. It seems that most citizens still like the Wizard who rescued more than twenty people from the fire. I'm your beloved Lucy. See you tomorrow!"
Sitting on the sofa and watching the television report about himself, Jerry was fairly satisfied.
Although some interviewees expressed dislike and distrust toward him, most people approved of him, especially those he had rescued.
No matter how perfect someone was, they could never make everyone like them. Jerry understood that very clearly.
His goal was not to make every citizen like him. As long as most people approved of him and his image remained positive, that was enough.
After all, he had saved people for the Little Red Star.
"Jerry, why do I feel like I've seen that broom the Wizard rides somewhere before?"
At that moment, Elsa's words from beside him suddenly made Jerry's heart tighten.
He had forgotten. When he had first returned two weeks ago, Elsa had happened to see the flying broom in his hand. At the time, he had explained that he had bought it to sweep the house.
Although flying brooms resembled ordinary brooms, after years of improvements by Wizards, there were still slight differences in their appearance.
Over the past few days, the magic-using Wizard had taken the major television networks by storm. Elsa, who was obsessed with magic, naturally would not miss it.
Now, her number one idol was the Wizard Jerry had played.
"Cough, cough. I think that as the Ice Queen, you need a new magic robe, just like the Wizard's, and an identical broom. I saw Annie and Susan buy matching sets the day before yesterday!"
"What? Annie and the others bought new gear behind my back? Hmph, that's awful!"
The moment Elsa heard that Annie and Susan had bought Wizard-style equipment, she immediately pushed the flying broom matter aside.
"Exactly. I think they must have lost to you in your last battle, so they secretly bought stronger equipment!"
Jerry hurriedly nodded and continued.
"How about this? Since we have nothing to do right now, I'll take you to Lina's Magic Cottage and buy you a set even better than theirs!"
"Really? Jerry, you're the best! A thousand times, ten thousand times better than Dad!"
The moment Elsa heard that Jerry would take her to buy a matching Wizard set, she happily jumped up and down on the sofa, completely forgetting about the flying broom.
