"Can we really pull this off? Why don't we find Yondu, get the location out of him, and just kill our way over there!"

As Star-Lord piloted the ship, nimbly evading attacks from the hundreds of Nova Corps combat craft behind them, he made the suggestion to Jerry, who was lounging calmly in the back.

Jerry smiled and shook his head.

"I know where Ego's Planet is, but we can't go there directly. Otherwise, that father of yours will grow suspicious. Besides, you still need him to awaken your Celestial Power."

When he had left Ravager Planet last time, he had already learned Ego's Planet's exact location from Yondu. But if he simply brought Star-Lord over to meet his dad, even Ego would probably realize something was wrong.

So he had first gone to Xandar and asked the old acquaintance, the commander of the Nova Corps, for a small favor.

It was simple: have Xandar spread two false rumors. First, that a Xandarian exploration team had found the legendary Soul Stone on Vormir several months ago.

Second, that a Ravager named Star-Lord had stolen the Soul Stone and, without using any device, had held it barehanded and injured everyone who tried to pursue him.

The craft chasing their ship now were Nova Corps fighters, except they had all been converted into remotely controlled models.

Ego had always known about Star-Lord's existence. But after killing so many of his own children without finding a single one who had inherited his Celestial Power, he had already given up hope on his plan.

So even when Yondu had ultimately failed to deliver Star-Lord to Ego's Planet, he had not pursued the matter any further.

Otherwise, with his strength, reclaiming Star-Lord would have been easy. Forget Yondu—even everyone on Ravager Planet combined would not
